adeguate, momenti di sosta e di relax indispensabili per

Mentre a casa nostra l’inverno rende fredde e buie le giornate, noi proponiamo il caldo e la luce delle Seychelles, un
arcipelago magico, dove la natura si è sbizzarrita come un
grande artista, creando panorami che sono gioia immensa
per gli occhi. Mahè, Praslin, La Digue, sono davvero incantevoli. Ma la fuga dal nostro inverno può avere come
destinazione anche la Giamaica, bellissima e accogliente,
un’isola che fu un tempo covo di pirati e oggi è meta ricercata di turisti che arrivano da ogni parte del mondo e
trovano ambienti ancora selvaggi, musica travolgente, allegria. Non è finita. Vi parliamo anche del Kenya, per una
vacanza che possa essere nello stesso tempo soggiorno
balneare e avvincente safari fotografico in un paese che è
un autentico santuario degli animali e della natura.

a magical archipelago, where the nature has gone wild
like a great artist, creating scenery that is an immense
joy for the eyes. Mahè, Praslin, La Digue, are really enchanting. Jamaica could also be the destination to escape from winter, beautiful and welcoming, an island
that once was a pirates haven and a popular destination for tourists from all over the world where they can
still experience a natural environment, rousing music,
fun. It does not finish here. We speak also of Kenya, for
a holiday that can be a seaside resort or exciting safari
at the same time, a country that is a true sanctuary for
animals and nature.

n occasione del centoundicesimo anniversario
della morte del celebre
scrittore del Ritratto di Dorian Gray, le autorità francesi hanno deciso di proteggere il sepolcro dell’autore,
situato nel cimitero di Pere
Lachaise di Parigi, con una
speciale teca di vetro. Il motivo che ha spinto il Ministero della Cultura francese a
coprire la lapide di Wilde?
Le eccessive manifestazione d’affetto da parte dei
suoi fan. A quanto pare le
visite sul sepolcro del poeta venivano sempre chiuse con
un particolare rituale: un bacio sulla lapide. Le continue
elargizioni d’amore stavano man mano usurando la tomba,
sottoposta a frequenti pulizie per via delle tracce di rossetto residue, tanto da causare danni irreversibili. La famiglia dello scrittore, con l’appoggio dell’autorità francese e
irlandese, ha così deciso di intervenire per preservare nel
tempo il ricordo di Oscar Wilde, logorato da troppo amore.

Gray, the French authorities
have decided to protect the
grave of the author, situated
in the cemetery of Pere Lachaise in Paris, with a special glass case. The reason
that encouraged the French
Minister of Culture to cover
Wilde’s tombstone? The excessive expression of affection from his fans. It seems
that the visits to the poets grave were always concluded
with a particular ritual: a kiss on the tombstone. The continuous donations of love were gradually wearing out the
gravestone, subject to frequent cleaning due to residual
traces of lipstick, so much to cause irreversible damage.
The writers family, with the help of the French and Irish
authorities, decided to intervene in time to preserve the
memory of Oscar Wilde, worn out from too much love.

non è quel che sembra, in realtà è un coniglio! Recentemente è stata rinvenuta
presso gli archivi della Huntley Film una pellicola prodotta dalla Walt Disney il cui protagonista, un coniglio, ricalca fedelmente i tratti del
celeberrimo Topolino. Il cortometraggio animato, Hungry Hobos, è stato realizzato nel 1928 dalla casa di cartoons di fama mondiale e narra la
storia di Oswald il coniglio che, assistito dal
fedele amico Gambadilegno, ruba a bordo
di un treno delle uova in preda alla fame
e le cucina rocambolescamente sulle rotaie della locomotrice. Film di soli cinque minuti Hungry Hobos risponde a un valore di
25mila sterline: è stato battuto all’asta il 14
dicembre 2011 durante i Bonhams’ Enternainment Memorabilia, eventi dedicati
alla valutazione di film, musica popolare
e televisione da collezione. Il motivo che
ha spinto la Walt Disney a trasformare il
coniglio in un topo resta però un mistero.

which, a rabbit, reproduces the features
of the famous Mickey Mouse. The animated short film, Hungry Hobos, was made in
1928 by a famous world producer of cartoons
and tells the story of Oswald the rabbit that,
assisted by trusted friend Peg-Leg Pete, aboard
a train in prey of hunger, robs some eggs and
incredibly cooks them on the rails of the locomotive. Hungry Hobos, only a five minute film
responds to a value of twenty five thousand
pounds: it has been auctioned the 14th of December 2011 at the Bonhams’ Entertainment
Memorabilia, events dedicated to evaluating films, popular music and TV collections.
The reason that prompted Walt Disney to
replace the rabbit with a mouse, remains a

l Globe Shopper City Index Europe, programma
di ricerca dell’Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU),
ha eletto Londra come città ideale per lo shopping. La classifica ha preso in considerazione 33 città europee valutando i pro e i contro di ognuna secondo 38 criteri (tra cui negozi, convenienza, hotel
e trasporti). Seguono il podio Madrid, Barcellona,
Parigi e Roma. Quest’ultima, secondo i pareri dei
turisti, è tra le mete più amate non solo per la convenienza, categoria in cui ha sbaragliato Londra e

sole d’armonia, le Seychelles. Le onde
lente che smuovono la battigia di frammenti di madrepore e coralli sono la
musica. Gli screzi turchese, blu e verdi
dell’acqua sono i colori sulla tavolozza. Il
vento che fa stormire le fronde delle palme,
i versi dei poeti. Dov’è l’uomo qui? L’uomo,
quando c’è, guarda muto e ascolta. Non potrebbe fare altrimenti, e imparare di nuovo a
accordarsi a un ritmo che pulsa da almeno 2
milioni e mezzo di anni. Certo, c’è l’industria
del turismo, i resort, l’all included, ma con
oltre 115 meravigliose isole è la natura a regnare incontrastata. Cominciare con una delle
tre isole principali, più solide perché fatte di
granito, è forse la cosa migliore per un primo
approccio. Mahé è la più importante, ma solo
perché Victoria è la capitale e ha il solo porto di un certo rilievo dell’arcipelago. Quattro
case, non di più, un paio di musei, il resto è
spiagge e mare. Beau Vallon è una delle più
note, ma le più belle sono a ovest: le calette di
Anse Soleil e Anse Petite sono perle di sabbia

Seychelles sembrano una di quelle spugne
dei fondali che filtrano ogni minuscola
particella organica. Assorbono tutto e tutto
trasformano. E niente è più come prima. Nella
moutia, la cupa danza tradizionale, i lenti e
ripetitivi movimenti dei danzatori replicano
le fatiche incessanti nelle piantagioni di
africani sradicati dalla loro terra. Ma gli
strumenti usati sono i più disparati: banjo,
fisarmonica, violino, tamburi africani insieme
a malakapo, zez e bom. Il cattolicesimo si
innerva sugli antichi riti animisti dei gris, gli
spiriti magici. Ma è a tavola che la cultura
creola dà il meglio di sé. E qui, nel piatto, la
magia si compie con pesci di ogni tipo che
convivono con incredibili salse a base di
frutta, verdura, erbe e spezie come il daube
o la rougaille.

sospiro sulla sabbia candida. La superficie turchese nasconde un mondo
variopinto e incredibile di fauna marina. Fauna che, nelle isole più verdi
come Bird, Cousin, Aride e Frégate, dove svetta la foresta tropicale e radure di piante carnivore, orchidee, buganvillee, ibischi e gardenie, pullula di
migliaia di specie molto rare di uccelli.
C’è anche posto per il mistero. Silhouette è un’isola a 20 chilometri da
Mahé, con pareti scoscese e vette di granito, ma sono le grotte che si

Quest’isola, a 2 km dalla costa sudoccidentale di Praslin, nel 1968 è
stata dichiarata riserva naturale e
accoglie diverse specie a rischio di
estinzione, oltre a ospitare allevamenti di uccelli marini e di tartarughe. Camminando nella fitta foresta si vedono uccelli su ogni ramo,
che sembrano non interessarsi alla
presenza umana; le specie più rare
sono la parulide con la coda folta e
lo shama delle Seychelles. Vedrete
probabilmente il fetone codabianca, simbolo di Mauritius e Réunion.
Sull’Isola Cousin vivono George e
Georgina, due vecchie tartarughe
che seguono i turisti per farsi accarezzare la testa. Per esplorare
l’isola è necessario partecipare a
una visita organizzata.

nessun altro posto al mondo il mare offre
acque così cristalline e una così grande varietà di specie tipiche della barriera corallina. Anche ad Aldabra gli unici residenti
sono degli scienziati, che per altro vivono
qui solamente tre mesi all’anno, ma mettere
piede in questo luogo significa comprendere appieno il pianto disperato di Adamo
ed Eva al momento di lasciare per sempre
l’Eden. Quel paradiso di cui Milton canterà
struggente l’irrimediabile perdita.

Africans: the Seychelles seem like one of
those sponges of the seabed that filter every
little organic particle. Absorb and transform
everything. Nothing is the same as before. In
the moutia, the sullen traditional dance, the
slow and repetitive movement of the dancers
replicate the incessant toil of the plantations
of Africans uprooted from their land. The
instruments used are most varied: banjo,
accordion, violin, African drums together with
malakapo, zez and bom. Catholicism gets
annoyed with the ancient animist rituals of
gris, the magical spirits. But, it is at the table
that the Creole culture gives the best of itself.
It is here, on the plate, that magic happens
with every kind of fish mixed with incredible
sauces made of fruit, vegetables, herbs and
spices such as daube and rougaille.

was nominated by UNESCO a World
Heritage Site. In the North there is
Anse Lazio, perhaps one of the most
beautiful beaches in the Seychelles.
The coral reef protects it from the
fury of the ocean and languid waves
that are like kisses which die with a
sigh on white sands. The turquoise
surface hides a multicolored world
of underwater wildlife. Wildlife
that, in the greener islands like Bird,
Cousin, Aride and Frégate, where
stands a tropical forest and clearing of
carnivorous plants, orchids, bougainvillea,
hibiscus and gardenia, swarmed with thousands of rare species of birds. There is even
room for mystery. Silhouette is an Island 20
kilometers from Mahè, with steep slopes and
granite peaks, but there are the caves that
open up on the hills to free the imagination.
It is here, they say, have been hidden by pirates, huge and fabulous treasures. The Sey-
chelles, however, give the best of themselves
in the most remote islands. Aldabra is one of
the world’s largest coral atolls that encloses
an enormous lagoon subject to the changing of the tides. Asuncion has the most incredible seabed in the world. It is here that
Jacques Cousteau filmed many scenes for
the documentary The Silent World. Here live
steadily only scientists and for limited periods, stating that there is no other place in
the world that has this kind of crystal waters
and such a great variety of species typical
of a coral barrier. Even in Aldabra the only
residents are scientists, that live here for only
three months out of the year, but to set foot
here means to fully understand the desperate cry of Adam and Eve at the moment they
had to leave the Garden of Eden forever.

l’antipatico di Hollywood, quello che ti fuma in faccia e poi ti
manda a quel paese senza troppi problemi, quello che si veste
con magliette bianche aderenti sui muscoli un po’ esagerati, il marito a cui Madonna ha dedicato l’album True Blue e che
ora descrive quel rapporto come “senza
senso”. è Sean Penn, prendere o lasciare. O si ama o si detesta, senza troppe
sfumature. Ma è anche un uomo capace
di interpretazioni difficili con personaggi che ti rimangono dentro, come l’omosessuale di Milk o la rock star decaduta di This
Must Be The Place. è difficile non sentirsi coinvolti in un film quando lui
ne è il protagonista (e due premi Oscar son lì a ricordarlo), ma anche da
regista ha dato prova di estrema sensibilità filmica e di scrittura, come nel
suo film Into the Wild - Nelle terre selvagge.

Sarà, ma in Into the Wild ha raccontato la
storia (vera) di un giovane neolaureato
(interpretato da un bravissimo Emil Hirsh)
che decide di scappare dalla società per
scoprire la natura selvaggia dell’America.
In effetti il genere del road-movie con
tutte le sue sfumature e intrecci sembra
adattarsi bene al personaggio Sean Penn,
anche se ha dichiarato, parlando del suo
film, che l’esperienza più vicina a quella
di Chris McCandless “è stata crescere nei
pressi dell’oceano e fare il surfista: anche
tra le onde si cerca una sorta di solitudine e di libertà interiore”. La libertà (dagli
schemi precostituiti, dalle imposizioni
della società) è un tema che sta molto a
cuore all’attore che non perde occasione
per parlarne: “La società americana, così
come quella occidentale, ha sviluppato
una certa dipendenza al comfort. Sarebbe bene uscire dalla zona di comodità e
seguire in modo pro-attivo un cambiamento. Credo che bisognerebbe spingersi
oltre questo limite”.

Fondo Monetario Internazionale, sostituendo il connazionale Dominique Strauss Kahn accusato di molestie sessuali
nei confronti di una cameriera dalla procura di New York
e per questo costretto a dimettersi. Prima donna della storia a ricoprire un ruolo di tale prestigio, la sua ascesa è

Una delle ultime novità importate dall’Estremo Oriente in fatto di bellezza potrebbe essere presto messa al bando perché
rischiosa. Si tratta del pedicure fatto con
dei pesciolini, un metodo che se da un lato
ha trovato grandi estimatori per la sua piacevolezza, dall’altro porta con sé il rischio
di malattie pericolose come l’Hiv e l’Epatite C.
L’allarme è stato lanciato dalle autorità britanniche in seguito a un’indagine durata
sei mesi sulla nuova moda dei pesci garra
rufa che si cibano di pelle morta. La pratica ha le sue origini in Turchia – dove i pesci nuotano in
piscine termali in cui si immergono pazienti affetti da
psoriasi – e si è diffusa prima in Estremo Oriente e poi
in Europa.
Infezioni e batteri potrebbero infatti essere trasmessi
dai pesci stessi o dall’acqua utilizzata dal cliente precedente. Virus come l’epatite o l’Hiv potrebbero diffondersi se una persona malata sanguina nell’acqua dove
sta facendo la pedicure e se quest’ultima non viene poi
cambiata. Sebbene il rischio sia “estremamente basso – conclude il rapporto della Hpa – non puo’ essere
escluso completamente” e le persone affette da diabete, psoriasi o con un sistema immunitario debole non
dovrebbero sottoporsi al trattamento.

month long investigation into this
new fashion of fish garra rufa that live off dead skin.
Its origins come from Turkey – where fish swim in
thermal pools where patients affected with psoriasis
bath- firstly – it was widespread in the Far East and
then Europe.
In fact, infections and bacteria could be transmitted
from the fish themselves or by the water used by the
previous client. Viruses as Hepatitis or HIV could spread
if an infected person bleeds in the water where they
were having a pedicure and this water is not changed.
Although the risk is “extremely low – the Hpa report
concludes – it cannot be completely excluded” and
persons affected with diabetes or psoriasis or a weak
immune system should not undergo the treatment.

aschere variopinte che nascondono festosamente i volti, costumi lussuosi e tradizionali,
balli in maschera. Venezia si trasforma in un
palcoscenico in cui volteggiano abiti sfarzosi,
costumi provenienti da tutto il mondo con cui si sfidano
i partecipanti alle originali sfilate in maschera. A vincere
sarà la fantasia nella scelta delle maschere che variano
dai costumi della più consolidata tradizione carnevalesca
a quelli più trendy e innovativi.
Teatro della manifestazione che dall’11 al 21 febbraio 2012
ospita tutto questo, ma anche rappresentazioni teatrali, tradizioni e concert,i è il Gran Foyer allestito per il Carnevale
in Piazza San Marco. Il grande palco teatrale è simbolo
della manifestazione carnascialesca più elegante e raffinata del mondo e permette al pubblico di viverla da protagonista. Ambientazione di spettacoli tradizionali come il Volo
dell’Angelo, la Festa delle Marie e la Maschera più bella,
il Gran Foyer ospita rappresentazioni meno legate al folclore come show di compagnie coreografiche e spettacoli
di circo-teatro. Ed è proprio a Piazza San Marco che il 4
febbraio si inaugura la stagione più folle dell’anno con il
Gran brindisi a Venezia, un festoso e raffinato tintinnare

ulticolored masks that festively hide faces,
luxurious and traditional costumes and
masked balls. Venice is transformed into a
stage where glitzy gowns flutter, costumes
from all over the world with which to challenge the original masked participants of the parade. The winner will be
chosen by the fantasy of their masks and costumes that
will range from the most traditional to those trendy and
innovative.
The theater of the manifestation that from the 11th to 21st
of February 2012 will host all this but, also theater presentations, traditions, concerts and the Gran Foyer set up in
Piazza San Marco. The grand theater stage is the symbol
of the most elegant and refined carnival manifestation in
the world and permits the public to be a star in it. Setting of
traditional theater such as Volo dell’Angelo, la Festa delle
Marie and the Best Mask, the Gran Foyer will host performances less tied to folklore as choreography show companies and circus theater. The 4th of February, in Piazza San

the participants into stage characters in motion, through
the streets and into the heart of Venice and its Carnival.
It begins the 4th of February and continues everyday from
Saturday 11th to Tuesday 21st 2012. Every tour will be conducted in Italian, English and French. In other areas, however, you can freely watch theatrical performances and
costume parades, concerts and pageants, entertainment

La tradizionale Festa delle Marie rievoca
l’omaggio che il Doge portava ogni anno
a dodici fanciulle veneziane di umili origini
e scelte tra le più belle e aggraziate, consegnando loro gioielli offerti da altrettante
famiglie patrizie, la dote per il matrimonio.
La tradizione narra di una sfilata che vedeva coinvolte le fanciulle e il Doge e in cui il
popolo acclamava le bellezze venete. Tanto
era l’ardore del pubblico, che per un certo
periodo le Marie vennero sostituite da statue
in legno, che i giovanotti dell’epoca utilizzavano come tiro a bersaglio. Ed è proprio da
questo gioco che nacque il detto Maria de
tola (Maria di legno) per indicare una donna fredda e impettita e da lì probabilmente
anche il termine “marionetta”. La festa, che
rappresenta oramai un momento unico per
ammirare i costumi della tradizione veneziana, è inaugurata con il corteo delle dodici
ragazze veneziane selezionate nelle settimane precedenti e si snoda su più giorni. Il
corteo pedonale, accompagnato dai gruppi
storici in costume del Comitato Europeo Rievocazioni Storiche e dalle associazioni per
il Carnevale, lascia San Pietro in Castello,
percorrendo tutta la Riva degli Schiavoni e
giungendo infine in piazza San Marco in cui,
tra l’entusiasmo popolare, avviene la presentazione delle “Marie” alla cittadinanza.

the young men of the time used for target shooting. It is from
this game that the saying Maria de tola (Maria made of wood) to
indicate a cold and stiff woman and from this also the term “puppet”. The celebration, which now represents a unique occasion to
admire the traditional Venetian costumes, and inaugurated with
the procession of the twelve Venetian girls selected in the previous weeks and runs on for several days. The pedestrian procession, accompanied by costumed groups of the European Historical Committee and associations for the Carnival, leaves San Pietro
in Castello, crossing all of Riva degli Schiavoni and finally arriving
in piazza San Marco where, among the peoples enthusiasm, the
presentation to the citizens of the “Marie” take place.

n evento unico al Palazzo Ducale di Genova che gravita intorno al tema del viaggio visto
da due prospettive differenti: come
esplorazione geografica e come ricerca del proprio io.
Il viaggio che Goldin, curatore dell’esposizione, propone a Palazzo Ducale, trova il centro ideale nell’opera
simbolo degli interrogativi di una vita
d’artista, quel Da dove veniamo? Chi
siamo? Dove andiamo?. Un’opera mastodontica mai vista in Italia e in Europa una sola volta, a Parigi, una decina
di anni fa. Il Museum of Fine Arts di

The driver next door
ernando Alonso è salito sul suo primo kart a soli tre anni. Lo aveva costruito il padre, José Luis, operaio di una fabbrica di esplosivi vicino a Oviedo
(Spagna), per la figlia Lorena, cinque anni più grande del futuro pilota di
Formula 1. Lorena, oggi medico, una volta salita sul rudimentale kart ebbe il
primo scontro, il piccolo Fernando, invece, riuscì a guidarlo. È iniziata così la carriera
del pilota della Ferrari attualmente terzo nella classifica del Mondiale già vinto da Sebastian Vettel, il pilota tedesco che ha infranto parecchi dei suoi record. Una carriera,
quella di Alonso, fatta di molti sacrifici da parte dei suoi cari. Il pilota non l’ha mai
nascosto e ne è sempre stato al corrente, come sottolinea anche il padre: “Fernando
è sempre stato cosciente dello sforzo che tutta la famiglia stava facendo: io andando
a ogni gara come meccanico, sua madre sopportando i lunghi periodi di assenza; e
poi Lorena, che non vedeva suo fratello, e i costi economici. L’unico modo di uscirne
era che Fernando iniziasse a vincere le gare e che qualcuno lo notasse come pilota del
futuro. Fernando sapeva che dipendeva da lui, e non ha sbagliato”.

munitions factory near Oviedo
(Spain), built it for his daughter, five years
older than the future Formula 1 driver. Lorena, today a doctor, had a crash with the
roughly built cart, the first time she got into
it, instead the little Fernando managed to
drive it. This is the way the Ferrari drivers
career began, presently third in the world
championship already won by Sebastian
Vettel, German driver who has broken several of his records. A career such as Alon-

scoppia nella Penisola Iberica la Alonsomania, le sue gare battono in tv lo share
delle partite di calcio, vince il prestigioso
Príncipe de Asturias e la motivazione del
riconoscimento assegnato dall’erede al trono spagnolo, Felipe, è la seguente: “È riuscito ad arrivare al top della sua specialità
sportiva, dopo anni di grandi sacrifici e rinunce, potendo contare all’inizio della sua

contacted by Ferrari, that wanted him as
their third driver, Fernando is “swiped” by
Flavio Briatore who takes him to Renault.
At the time he was a team manager and
sends him to gain experience at Minardi,
Italian stable for young talents. In 2002,
the Asturian returns to race for Renault,
from those first victories we have arrived
into 2005, the year in which he wins the
world championship for the first time, the
first Spaniard in history to obtain a title in
the Formula 1. After his victory (repeated

RAQUEL DEL ROSARIO, MRS. ALONSO
Twenty-nine, Raquel is born in the Canary Islands. At
17 she meets David Feito and starts to sing, in 2000
she moves to Asturias and here she meets Juan Luis
Suárez, the third and last member of the group El
Sueño de Morfeo, a pop band that is working on
their fourth album, last in order of time Buscamos
Sonrisas. Raquel has also starred in the series Los
Serranos, the serie I Cesaroni is inspired by. The
Asturian group has sang with Nek, meanwhile Raquel participated at the last San Remo in a duet with
Luca Barbarossa. Raquel gives fashion advice in her
blog and makes her own clothes. She also designs
clothing for Ewan, a line of Asturian clothing she is
a testimonial to.

Of its ancestors the new Japanese two wheeler has kept only
some characteristics, as the project was designed not as a
simple restyling, but as a new creation destined to penetrate the market.
The basic geometry was inherited from its predecessor,
while the rigidity of the aluminum of the monococque
frame has been completely renovated to meet the increased
power of the new engine. The high aerodynamic performance of ZZR 1400 are the results of a hull shaped by the
wind tunnel, which reduce resistance and contribute to
the stability and protection from weather conditions even
at high speed.
The design of the massive back of the bike and a more balanced approach on impact, ensure that the new Kawasaki
flagship has a majestic appearance from every angle. The
ZZR 1400 offers a sporty and relaxed driving position.
The quadruple flaring fins have remained the same, but
with a more three-dimensional design, thus
creating a more dynamic side to the bike.
The rear pod maintains the aggressive and
massive LED rear tail light and turn signals
integrated in the previous model. A larger
volume of the fairing creates a complete
back view: the rear tail, the tire and the
dual silencers have excellent balance and
spatial vision.
The new motor features a higher performance capacity and a perfect set-up to deliver the highest level of power and acceleration: with new valves and compression
ratio, the power reached is 200 CV (210
with air box pressure) at 10.000 g/min,
while the torque reaches a value of 162,5
Nm at 7.500 g/min. 265 kilos (268 for a
more done up version).
Also, more efficient in fuel consumption:
in fact, despite the higher cylinder capac-
ity, the most advanced ECU programming
gives the ZZR 1400 better fuel efficiency
than its predecessor. Careful adjustment of
the volume of fuel and the ignition timing
improves fuel consumption by about 8%.
Thanks to the KTRC system present on the
new Kawasaki, drivers may choose to use
some of the advanced technology provided
to meet the driving conditions or personal
preference: the bike combines the best elements of the two traction Kawasaki systems, S-KTRC e KTRC.
Three modes cover a wide range of driving
conditions, offering better performance for
racing or the peace of mind to deal with
slippery surfaces safely: Modes 1 and 2 as
a priority have the maximum acceleration
in the front; instead, mode 3 ensures the
safety of the driver facilitating a smooth
ride on slippery surfaces.

l’appuntamento di Fiera Roma

regalarsi un viaggio a 360° nella cultura del

BIG BLU è giunto alla sua sesta edizione,
crescendo costantemente in termini di visitatori e di espositori ed è uno degli eventi
più importanti in Italia per il settore nautico
ma anche la più grande manifestazione italiana dedicata al mare nel senso più ampio.
BIG BLU infatti si è conquistato il proprio
spazio nel panorama dei saloni nautici italiani con la grande attenzione rivolta alla

The 2012 edition will contribute to the development of

2012 Olympic Games in London.

i reietti della terra. Anzi, a pensarci bene, forse è
sempre stato così. Le colonie greche non venivano
fondate da azzimati damerini, ma da duri avventurieri; le legioni di Scipione a Zama erano formate da reparti di
punizione, una sorta di “sporca dozzina”; i crociati di Goffredo di
Buglione, un esercito di rozzi energumeni; nella flotta di Francis
Drake c’erano più tagliagole che altro, ma l’orgogliosa Invincibile
Armada ci ha lasciato comunque le penne. Tuttavia di quanto ac-

cadde nei Caraibi, e più tardi nei Mari del Sud, nessuno all’inizio
ha mai cercato di rivendicarne la paternità. L’Australia, per dire, è
stata considerata per molto tempo poco più di una colonia penale

here was a time when history was written by the
outcasts of the earth. Actually, thinking about
it, perhaps it has always been. The Greek colonies were not founded by dapper dandies, but
by tough adventurers; the legions of Scipio in Zama were
formed by units in punishment, a sort of “dirty dozen”;
crusaders of Godfrey of Bouillon, an army of rough thugs;
in Francis Drakes fleet there were more cut throats than
anything else, but still the Invincible Armada left us writings. However from what happens in the Caribbean, and
later in the Southern Seas, at the beginning no one ever
tried to claim paternity. Australia, to say, for a long time
was considered no more than an open air penal colony,
inhabited by convicts and prostitutes. Something similar,
with less outcry, had happened centuries before in Jamaica. At the end of the 500’s, no one remained of the original
Arawaks on the island, so the Spanish began to import sugar together with African slaves. The trade with the mainland was so intense that the greed of the nations arriving
in the New World, later didn’t find anything better to do but
to only encourage piracy and the war of “Running”. Drift-

Island: the Bob Marley Museum.
Whoever sets foot in Jamaica, for
any reason, cannot withstand a
meeting with the king of reggae.
In fact, Marley’s music is heard on
every corner and it is difficult to
not think about much reggae has
influenced music in every part of
the world. Even acknowledged
by a star like Sting, that with Police, drew in with both hands this
unique blend of musical heritage
of Ska, Mento, Calypso with R&B
and American Soul. But, Bob Marley was much more than an extraordinary musician. In his homeland he is considered a spiritual
guide, a political leader, worldwide

speak of love, peace and fighting
against any kind of injustice that
earned him a United Nations Medal of Peace.

avuto un’evoluzione assolutamente originale. L’incontro-scontro di culture diverse
ha prodotto uno stile in cui si fondono l’eredità Arawak, la cultura europea, il simbolismo africano e la raffinatezza asiatica
e medio-orientale. Un amalgama straordinario che si ritrova anche in cucina, nell’artigianato e nella musica: è qui, per fare
un solo esempio, che si può cenare con
pesce salato e pane di frutta arrostito cullati dalle note della musica reggae. Ma la
Giamaica offre anche lunghe spiagge, un
mare straordinario, insenature fiabesche e
una natura incontaminata fatta di montagne
scoscese, cascate e caverne. Blue Lagoon è
un buon esempio di quanto possa offrire
l’isola definita da Colombo “la più leggiadra
che occhi abbiano mai visto: montagnosa... tutta piena di valli, campi e pianure”.
La laguna si trova nel Portland, sulla costa
nord ovest, e il nome che le è stato dato
è un’approssimazione per difetto. È infatti
una sorta di piscina naturale profonda circa
60 metri, probabilmente il cratere di un vulcano estinto, dove l’acqua a causa di una
sorgente sotterranea sprigiona una gamma
di colori che va dal blu intenso al verde
smeraldo. Una meraviglia. Ma l’azzurro è
in ottima compagnia. A Negril, la “perla
dei Caraibi”, si stendono gli 11 chilometri
di sabbia bianchissima di Long Bay. Ocho
Rios, invece, si affaccia su un’ampia spiaggia a forma di conchiglia –la Turtle Beach
– orlata da colline coperte da una lussureggiante e verdissima vegetazione tropicale.
All’interno fiumi tortuosi e cascate. Ma se
proprio si volesse scegliere un colore, forse
sarebbe il rosso-arancio dei suoi incredibili
tramonti, sarete in buona compagnia: Errol
Flynn e gli attori di Hollywood degli anni
‘30 e ‘40 aleggiano ancora da queste parti.

go from deep blue to emerald green. Marvelous. But the blue is in good company. In

n battito forte e profondo che si esprime con i suoni, i profumi
e soprattutto la brillantezza dei colori che questa terra sprigiona. Dagli oltre 5.000 metri delle vette innevate del Monte
Kenya, si attraversano savane e immense praterie rosso fuoco,
si incontrano baobab giganti dalle verdi cime che sono le case di piccoli
uccelli dalle tinte sfavillanti, laghetti azzurri dove si abbeverano splendidi
animali, mentre in alto volteggiano fenicotteri rosa. Colori forti e intensi,
fra cielo e mare, quell’oceano che circonda le bianche spiagge della barriera corallina che lambiscono le coste ad est.
Ma quando si pensa al Kenya è naturale che venga in mente il safari, una
parola che in lingua swahili significa “viaggio” e in questo luogo leggendario, terra dai grandi spazi, santuario dei big five (elefante, leone, rinoceronte, leopardo e bufalo), oggi vivono in parchi naturali migliaia di specie
animali. Sono i protagonisti delle storie dei libri che hanno popolato la
nostra fanciullezza e i nostri sogni anche attraverso film, cartoni animati
e documentari.
Il safari è un’esperienza che supera ogni aspettativa. Avventurarsi tra le

Kenya-Uganda (1898), due leoni divorarono 135 operai. I leoni che si
possono incontrare oggi nello Tsavo East National Park non sono più così
aggressivi, anche se vanno avvicinati con la dovuta prudenza. Oltre ai

For mountain lovers and climbing, Mount Kenya has among its slopes
a park that runs up to 3000 meters altitude, where black buffalo graze
and the rivers are rich with trout. Meanwhile in Mwaluganje Elephant
Sanctuary it is possible to see entire families of elephants splashing about
in a pool and spraying each other with water.
Kenya, also, has a marvelous sea. The most famous spot is Malindi, famous
for its white sand beaches. Many of the beaches are protected nature areas,
also because the sea turtles that lay their eggs.
The transparency of the ocean waters is breathtaking and the richness of
all the various colored fish that populate the massive surrounding coral
reefs. Outside of the reef, for scuba divers, thrill seekers and lovers of deep
sea fishing, it is possible to encounter a shark and large predatory fish.
There is another aspect that is worth remembering about this marvelous
land: Kenyans.The calm, tranquility and peace with which they repeat:
Pole Pole (slowly slowly, no hurry) or Hakuna Matata (no problem), the
warm way they welcome you, the continuous smiles are the results of their

Tutto il dolce

aroma e colore. Dopo circa un mese di riposo è
il momento di preparare lo sciroppo. Si mettono
l’acqua e lo zucchero in un pentolino e si fanno
scaldare a fuoco lento fin quando lo zucchero non
si sia completamente sciolto. Il liquido ottenuto
va fatto raffreddare e versato nel barattolo.
Sono necessari altri quaranta giorni di riposo al buio e il nostro limoncello è pronto
per essere filtrato. Con un imbuto e una
garza si travasa nelle bottiglie che andranno
poi conservate nel freezer. Il limoncello si
serve generalmente ghiacciato come digestivo a fine pasto. Qualcuno lo preferisce
a temperatura ambiente, magari mescolato
con acqua tonica o champagne, ma è ottimo anche su gelati o macedonia.

si parla di Limoncello. Liquore dalla ricetta sobria e genuina, ha una storia che si snoda attraverso una

le grandi famiglie sorrentine, già agli inizi del ‘900, non
ne facessero mai mancare un assaggio agli ospiti illustri.
Mentre i capresi ne rivendicano la paternità sostenendo
che fu il loro conterraneo Massimo Canale, nel 1988, il
primo a registrare il marchio “Limoncello”. Anche se qualcuno racconta che pescatori e contadini lo bevessero per
combattere il freddo sin dai tempi dell’invasione saracena.
O ancora che la ricetta sia nata all’interno di un convento
monastico per deliziare i frati tra una preghiera e l’altra.
Leggende a parte, questo nettare unico e inconfondibile
può essere realizzato anche in casa, con pochi ingredienti
e limoni di ottima qualità.

production: this time we are speaking about Limoncello. A liquor with a simple and genuine
recipe, it has a history which unfolds through a series of
anecdotes and legends. On the coast, it is said that large
Sorrentine families, already at the beginning of the 1900’s,
never missed offering a taste to their distinguished guests.
Meanwhile, the people of Capri claim their paternity sustaining it was their countryman Massimo Canale, in 1988,
the first to register the trademark “Limoncello”.
Even if someone says that fisherman and peasants drank
it to fight the cold at the time of the Saracen invasion. Or

protetta (Igp). Rugosi, dalla forma simmetrica e il colore giallo citrino, vanno preferiti per la buccia molto

Per la preparazione, dopo aver lavato il frutto
in acqua calda, con un coltello affilato bisogna
ricavare solo la parte gialla della scorza che
va posta in un barattolo a chiusura ermetica

alcool di buona qualità, anche per evitare che
il liquore si trasformi in ghiaccio nel freezer. Il
contenitore va poi sistemato in un luogo buio
e conservato a temperatura ambiente in modo
che le bucce, macerando, rilascino lentamente

unique nectar can also be made at home, with a few ingredients and high
quality lemons. The ones recommended are those from Sorrento that,
thanks to their characteristics, they earned the Protected Geographical Indication (Igp). Course, symmetrically shaped
and bright yellow in color, preferred for their very thick
skin, rich in essential oils that give flavor to the liquor.
To prepare, after washing the fruit in hot water,
with a sharp knife you must extract only the yellow part of the skin and place it in a tightly sealed
jar with alcohol. It is suggested to use good quality
alcohol, also to avoid the liquor from becoming ice
in the freezer. The container should then be placed
in a dark place at room temperature, in this way
the lemon rind slowly releases its aroma and color.
After around one month’s rest, it is time to prepare the
syrup. Put water and sugar in a saucepan and heat until
the sugar has dissolved. The liquid obtained is cooled and
poured into the jar. Another forty days of rest, in the dark, are
needed for our Limoncello and then it is ready to be filtered. With a
funnel and a gauze cloth pour into bottles and then store in the freezer.
Limoncello is usually served as a digestive at the end of a meal. Someone
prefers it at room temperature, maybe mixed with tonic water and champagne, but it is also excellent poured over ice-cream or fruit cocktail.

diventerà bravissimo nel suo lavoro e quando
l’intuizione di un suo geniale e modernissimo amico
(uno splendidamente in forma Rupert Everett) si
tramuterà in uno strumento da usare al posto delle
mani nascerà il primo vibratore della storia.
Commedia romantica “in costume” divertente e

Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione Europea ha adottato nuove
regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi che
possono essere introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole
si applicano nei confronti tutti i passeggeri in partenza
dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il
relativo bagaglio a mano devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi.
Comunque, le nuove regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere
acquistati presso gli esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di
viaggio od a bordo di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti
dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali modifiche.

security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all

This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However, the new rules
do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond the checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the EU
and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch your
arms and legs or carry out some easy exercises* suggested
below.

Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy drinks,
