MOZZARELLA E PIZZA: LA SCIENZA CONFERMA
C’è da chiedersi se una ricerca scientifica fosse del tutto necessaria,
ma arrivano conferme dai camici bianchi: la mozzarella è il formaggio perfetto da mettere sulla pizza.
Lo studio, condotto da un team di ricercatori neozelandesi e pubblicato sul Journal of Food Science ha comparato i diversi tipi di formaggio tramite un software
da loro ideato. La mozzarella, rispetto al groviera o al
leerdammer, ha dimostrato di possedere ottimi parametri filamentosi e di rispondere perfettamente alla cottura,
gonfiandosi e scurendosi al punto giusto. Lo studio ha alzato un
polverone tra i fanatici della quattro formaggi.

It is to question whether a scientific research was really necessary, but lab tests can now confirm it: mozzarella is the perfect
cheese to put on pizza. The study, conducted by a team of New
Zealand researchers and published in the Journal of Food Science, compared the different types of cheese using a software
developed solely for this purpose. Mozzarella, compared with
gruyere or Leerdammer, has been proved to have excellent
stringing fibers and a flawless response to cooking, swelling and
browning at the right point. The study has raised a fuss among
the fanatics of the Four Cheeses.

In pochissimi possono raccontare di aver giocato e vinto
una finale mondiale. E c’è chi, pur avendola giocata e vinta,
proprio non riesce a ricordarselo: Christoph Kramer, 23enne
centrocampista della Germania campione del mondo, è
come se la partita non l’avesse mai giocata. Kramer è stato
infatti costretto ad abbandonare il campo dopo un colpo alla
testa. L’impatto, seppur non violento, ha avuto lo sfortunato
effetto di far perdere la memoria al calciatore, che non riesce
a ricordare nulla dei minuti giocati al mondiale. Per Kramer,
la vittoria del mondiale è stata un sogno. Letteralmente.

Q
uando gli Spagnoli arrivarono nel Nuovo Mondo si
disinteressarono completamente dello Yucatán. A
parte alcune guide e interpreti – fra cui la famosa
Malinche di Cortez che, per aver aiutato i conquistadores a sconfiggere gli Aztechi, gode di odio così profondo che ancora oggi viene ricordata in un intercalare da
turpiloquio – di questo paese senza miniere d'argento, poco
popolato, dal clima impossibile e che si poteva raggiungere
solo via mare non sapevano che farsene. Quando il Messico
si affranca dalla corona di Spagna il nuovo governo pensa che
sia giunta l'ora di occuparsi di quel territorio dimenticato.
Una pessima idea. Il risultato fu una guerra lunga e sanguinosa, la cosiddetta "Guerra delle Caste", che si è protratta fino
a inizio del Novecento. Della penisola, il Campeche, stretto
fra lo Yucatán propriamente detto e il Chiapas, occupa la

zona centrale affacciata sul Golfo. Mérida è probabilmente il primo contatto che si ha con questa terra, se non altro
perché è qui che si arriva in aereo – l'altro aeroporto è a
Campeche o più sud, a Ciudad del Carmen – e perché è da
qui che si possono impostare tutti gli itinerari per l'interno. La cittadina, dalla sonnacchiosa architettura coloniale, è
però piacevole, vivace, e ha il più vasto e interessante mercato del Messico meridionale insieme a quelli di Oaxaca e San
Cristóbal. L'interno della regione è sicuramente qualcosa che
vale la pena visitare. Per farlo si può percorrere la "via corta",
più breve ma anche meno interessante, o la Ruta Federal 261,
la "via ruinas": entrambe portano a Campeche ma la seconda attraversa autentiche meraviglie. Il primo incontro è con
Uxmal, una visione quasi irreale che si materializza in piena

Probabilmente lo si conosce più col nome di Panama, ma
è proprio lui: il cappello più straordinario che sia mai stato
inventato. Il segreto è in una pianta, la carludovica palmata, una palma dalle cui foglie si ricava una fibra sottilissima,
l'jipi appunto, che tessuta da mani abilissime si trasforma
nel copricapo più famoso al mondo. Per riconoscere un
vero sombrero jipi bisogna controllare la quantità e la
qualità della fibra impiegata. Un Panama degno di questo
nome è leggero, sottile, elastico, flessibile e chiuso delicatamente in pugno deve tornare riprendere immediatamente la forma. Il colore poi non è paglia ma è quello della
fibra naturale, fra il bianco e l'avorio.

L'Arrecife de los Alacranes,

sogno e l'acqua così trasparente
che le centinaia di relitti delle
battaglie fra galeoni si possono
vedere anche dalla barca
dedicato a Chac, il dio della pioggia, come testimoniano le
grandiose facciate del Quadrangulo de las Monjas, della Piramide del Adivino, della Casa de las Tortugas e del Palacio.
Proseguendo a sud si incontrano le rovine di Kabah, Sayil,
X-La'Pak, Labná, Hochob e Edzná: il paesaggio ha la ruvida
bellezza della natura incontaminata. Al termine c'è Campeche. Di qui si può proseguire lungo la costa verso Ciudad del
Carmen ma le spiagge più belle sono quelle fra Champotón
e Sabancuy: sabbia bianchissima, acque turchesi, palme da
cocco che quasi sfiorano la battigia. Un paradiso. Ma un paradiso ancora più stupefacente è però a nord, vicino a Mérida. Bisogna arrivare a Sisal e chiedere a qualche pescatore
un passaggio per l'Arrecife de los Alacranes, la Barriera degli
Scorpioni. Sono un paio di giorni di navigazione e ci si deve
procurare un permesso, ma ne vale la pena: l'arcipelago è un
sogno e l'acqua così trasparente che le centinaia di relitti delle battaglie fra galeoni – qualcuno dice oltre 250 – si possono
vedere anche dalla barca. Se poi si è anche appassionati di
immersioni, be' è facile perdere completamente la testa.

THE JIPI SOMBRERO
It is probably more known by the name of Panama, but
it is it: the most extraordinary hat that has ever been
invented. The secret is in a plant, the Carludovica palmata, a palm tree from which the leaves are used to
make a thin fiber, the jipi in fact, which woven by skilled
hands is then transformed into the world's most popular headgear. To recognise a real jipi sombrero you
need to check the amount and quality of fibers used. A
Panama worthy of the name is lightweight, thin, elastic,
flexible and if gently closed it must return immediately
to its shape. The color is not straw but that of natural
fiber, between white and ivory.
MEXICO
hen the Spanish arrived in the New World they were
not at all interested in the Yucatán. Apart from some
guides and interpreters – one of them being the famous Malinche of Cortez, who for having helped the conquistadores to defeat the Aztecs, gained such deep hatred that still
today she is remembered through foul language – of this country without silver mines, hardly populated, with a difficult climate
and which one could reach only by sea, they did not know what
to do. When Mexico freed itself from the crown of Spain's new
government it was believed that the time had come to take care
of that forgotten territory. A terrible idea. The result was a long
and bloody war, the so-called "War of the Castes", which lasted
"via corta", the "short route", less lengthy but also less interesting, or the Ruta Federal 261, the "via ruinas": both lead to
Campeche but the second goes through real wonders. The first
meeting is with Uxmal, an almost unreal vision that materialises
in the middle of the forest. Uxmal was a major Puuc ceremonial center dedicated to Chac, the god of rain, as testimony the
great facades of the Quadrangulo de las Monjas, the Adivino
Pyramid, the Casa de las Tortugas and the Palacio. Continuing
to the south we meet the ruins of Kabah, Sayil, X-La'Pak, Labná,
Hochob and Edzná: the landscape has that rough beauty of
untouched nature. At the end there is Campeche. From here
one can continue along the coast to Ciudad del Carmen but
the best beaches are those among Champotón and Sabancuy:
white sand, turquoise waters, coconut palms that almost touch
the water's edge. A paradise. But an even more astonishing par-

ask some fisherman for a lift to the Arrecife de los Alacranes, the
barrier of Scorpions. It is a couple of days at sea and you have to
get a permit, but it's worth it: the archipelago is a dream and the
water is so clear that the hundreds of wrecks of galleons from
battles - some say more than 250 - can be seen from the boat.

Matthew David McConaughey (born in
Uvalde, on November 4, 1969) is an actor from
Texas. Since 2000 he has been known as the
star of numerous comedies, to then devote
himself to more engaging roles. He won the
Golden Globe for Best Actor, an Oscar in
the same category and several international
awards for his role as Ron Woodroof in the
biographical film Dallas Buyers Club. He is
the co-star of True Detective, an American
television series acclaimed by critics and
audiences, with 9 Emmy nominations and 12
million viewers per episode.
Considered a sex symbol, blond with a
statuesque body, he has been included many
times in the rankings of the most handsome
men in the world.

for years Matthew McConaughey
has ridden the wave of success by exploiting his charms in an exaggerated
way remaining trapped in the role of the
hot one in romantic comedies full of clichés (The Wedding Planner, with Jennifer
Lopez, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, with
Kate Hudson, and Failure to Launch, with
Sarah Jessica Parker, are just a few titles).
Then something unusual happens: McConaughey begins to turn down several
films, he stops working, waiting for the
right script to come along to question
his role as an actor. The first to bet – with

e maglietta. Non è da tutte inciampare su uno dei
red carpet più blasonati dello schermo – quello del Festival
di Sanremo – e riavvitarsi su se stesse con l’eleganza di una
farfalla in volo. Sarà per questo che Bianca Balti, splendida lodigiana dallo sguardo di ghiaccio, fa storcere il naso
a molte nel suo ambiente, ma anche fuori, al riparo dalle
luci dei set. Perché diciamocelo: l’avvenenza, da sola, non
basta a ingraziarsi tanto successo. Dal primo contratto in
esclusiva come volto per D&G, fino all’ultima campagna
pubblicitaria OVS che l’ha consacrata a super testimonial
in abiti casual, passando per le copertine fashion di Vogue
e bucando il grande schermo con il film Go Go Tales, sono
trascorsi solo 10 anni. «Un’eternità» – dice lei – che ha vissuto attimo per attimo ogni sfida, ogni traguardo e tutte le
insidie di un mondo che facile non è. «Un soffio», direbbero
altre, a giudicare dalla naturalezza con cui questa dea dalle
movenze leggiadre si è fatta ambasciatrice del fascino made

Bianca Balti nasce a Lodi sotto il
segno dei Pesci il 19 marzo 1984.
Arriva direttamente dai banchi del
liceo classico quando Domenico Dolce
le appunta uno spillino sulla gonna
prima del défilé, scoprendo la musa
che ispirerà le campagne di Missoni,
Dior, Guess, Bluemarine, Armani e
Guerlain. Nel 2007 mette al mondo
Matilde, e insieme all’attuale ex marito
Christian Lucidi fa i bagagli per New
York. Ma le mancano il sole e la privacy,
così si stabilisce a Marbella. Proprio

Bianca Balti was born in Lodi under
the sign of Pisces on the 19th of March
1984. She comes directly from the desks
of grammar school when Domenico
Dolce, added a pin on a skirt before her
défilé, revealing the muse that inspired
campaigns for Missoni, Dior, Guess,
Bluemarine, Armani and Guerlain. In
2007 she gives birth to Matilda, and
with her then current ex husband
Christian Lucidi packs her bags for New
York. But she misses sun and privacy,
so she settled in Marbella. It was with
Matilda, in 2013, that she recorded the
spot for Dolce & Gabbana Watches,
which played on the ‘genetic’ charm of
beauty. In winter, she will be the star of
the collection Angelozzi Couture.

egal in an evening dress, mesmerizing in a swimsuit, simply divine even barefoot and in jeans and a T-shirt. Not everyone is
able to trip over one of the more famous red carpets of the
screen – the one of the Sanremo Festival - and get back up on with
the elegance of a butterfly in flight. This must be why Bianca Balti, the
beautiful Lodigiana with the ice stare, makes many in her environment
turn up their nose, but also outside, away from the lights of the set.
Because, let's face it: beauty alone is not enough to gain so much success. From her first exclusive contract as the face of D&G, to her last
advertising campaign for OVS that consecrated her to a super testimonial in casual clothes, going from
the fashion covers of Vogue and hitting the big screen with the movie Go

aniel Libeskind, polacco di nascita, americano
d'adozione, cittadino del mondo per vocazione,
è un artista sui generis. Forse però lo consideriamo tale perché l'eclettismo ai nostri tempi è visto con
diffidenza: oggi che vige l'imperativo della specializzazione
non siamo più in grado di apprezzare una mente che esercita la propria curiosità un po' su tutto. Poi però dobbiamo
fare i conti con le sue opere e allora tutto cambia. Daniel
nasce come musicista ma oggi è considerato uno dei maggiori esponenti della corrente decostruttivista dell'architettura contemporanea. Libeskind, tuttavia, non vi aderisce
in maniera radicale e la definizione stessa di architettura
decostruttivista gli va un po' stretta. «La pratica – dice in
un'intervista – direi la materia stessa dell’architettura, non ha

1946. Si laurea in Architettura alla Cooper Union for the
Advancement of Science and Art di New York nel 1970.
A Londra perfeziona gli studi, ottiene cattedre in Europa,
Giappone e Stati Uniti e comincia a mettersi in evidenza per
progetti che si collocano sulla linea di confine fra la geometria
euclidea e le teorie di Lobacevskij. Il City Edge di Berlino è del
1987, nel 1989 si aggiudica il concorso internazionale per il
Museo Ebraico di Berlino, mentre nel 2004 gli viene affidata la
riqualificazione di Ground Zero.

sono modificate. Lui, Daniel Libeskind, non si scompone,
risponde sorridendo a chi sostiene che CityLife non verrà
mai costruito se non sulla carta: «Il progetto non è cambiato,
si è sviluppato. Quando disegni un edificio per un concorso, disegni un'idea di edificio. Se le strutture rimangono le stesse dal primo
schizzo alla fine non sono buone architetture». Ecco, questo è

graduated in architecture at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of
Science and Art in New York in 1970. In London he enriches his studies,
obtaining professorships in Europe, Japan and the United States and
begins to be distinguished by projects that are placed on the boundary
line between Euclidean geometry and the theories of Lobacevskij.
The City Edge Berlin in 1987, in 1989 he wins the international
competition for the Jewish Museum in Berlin, while in 2004 he won the
redevelopment of Ground Zero.

dell’Oman è un italiano: Luca Blasio.
Cosa porta un violinista italiano
in un paese così lontano, geograficamente e culturalmente?
Fin dall’inizio della mia carriera ho
amato viaggiare confrontandomi con
realtà e culture diverse da quelle che
hanno determinato la mia formazione, toccando spesso luoghi decisamente inusuali per la nostra musica.
Perché la scelta di vivere in Oman?
Il sultano è un sovrano sensibile e illuminato, amante della musica classica.
Pur volendo tutelare tradizione, cultura e territorio dell’Oman, è interessato a tutto ciò che possa arricchire la

What brings an Italian violinist in a country so far away, geographically and culturally speaking?

the creation of the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and a campus for students at the Muscat Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since the beginning of my career I loved to travel, facing new realities and cultures different from the one I was trained in, often
touching upon places considerably unusual for our music.
Is there a return to Italy in your future projects?
Why choose to live in Oman?
I won an international competition which led me to Muscat
where I came across a stimulating and ambitious project, which
I instantly shared with enthusiasm: the formation of a symphonic
orchestra made of Omanis eager to play and to deepen their
knowledge of Western music.
Where does this interest in western music come from?
The Sultan is a sensitive and enlightened ruler, a lover of classical music. Although wanting to protect the tradition, culture and

affectionate and professional relationships, and where I hope

è l’anno della racchetta. Gli
amanti del tennis cercano
nuovi stimoli e rinunciano a qualche
set sulla terra rossa a favore del cemento, con il paddle, e del parquet,
con lo squash, entrambe nuove declinazioni dello storico sport dell’aristocrazia britannica.
“Il paddle sta al tennis come il calcetto sta al calcio. E’ facile e lo possono
praticare tutti. Non si soffre la fisicità,
è un gioco di testa” dice Gianfranco
Nirdaci, coordinatore del comitato
nazionale Paddle FIT.
Sorprendono i numeri del paddle: in

Italia lo scorso anno -2013- si contavano 190 tesserati, mentre nel 2014 la
cifra è salita a 700, contestualmente
è stata istituita la squadra nazionale
di Paddle Tennis. Tutti vogliono praticare il paddle e i campi da gioco si
moltiplicano: la moda del paddle è
contagiosa. A Roma in particolare: la
maggior parte dei circoli tennis storici
si sono dotati di campi da gioco, dove
quelli che per primi hanno subito il fascino di questo sport sono i tennisti, a
loro vanno ad aggiungersi i nostalgici
del racchettone da spiaggia e infine
anche tanti neofiti della racchetta alla
ricerca di un gioco sportivo che diver-
ta e faccia rilasciare endorfine e scaricare lo stress a fine giornata.
Il campo è di dimensioni inferiori rispetto a quello da tennis, ha una
rete centrale che ha all’incirca la stessa altezza, ma si differenzia in modo
sostanziale dalla “gabbia”: alte pareti
trasparenti tutto intorno al perimetro
vanno esse stesse a costituire parte
del campo da gioco. Le pareti sono il
leit motiv che unisce il paddle con lo
squash e queste sono il distinguo più

«Paddle is to tennis what five'a'side is to football. It's
easy and anyone can play it. It is not physically straining, but it is a mind game. You do not suffer the physical, is a head game», says Gianfranco Nirdaci, coordinator of Tfit, the national Paddle Commitee.
The numbers in paddle are surprising: last year, 2013, in
Italy there were 190 members, whilst in 2014 numbers
increased to 700, as a result a national Paddle team
has been set up. Everybody wants to play paddle and
playing fields are multiplicating: the paddle trend is
contagious. Particularly in Rome: the majority of tennis storical clubs have set up playing fields, in these
places the ones to first have been fascinated by this
sports have been the tennis players, then those nostalgic of beach tennis and finally newbies who want to
take on a raquet sport to help reliese endorphins and
help stress.
The field is of bigger dimension to that of tennis, it has
a central net of the same height, but it differs substantially from the “cage”: tall, transparent walls all around
the court are part of the playing ground. The walls are

britannica ha annunciato la produzione dei sei modelli mancanti. E, per rispettare le premesse del progetto e rimanere fedeli all’originale, la costruzione
avverrà senza l’utilizzo di tecniche d’assemblaggio
moderne.
A sixty years long
production
In 1963, Jaguar made plans to build 18 unique models of the E Type with a reduced weight, the Jaguar Lightweight E Type. Of those 18, only 12 were
built. Today, 52 years later, following a passionate
reevaluation of her history, the British manufacturer
announced the production of the six missing units.
And, following the initial project and keeping faithful
to the original, the production will take place without
the help of modern assembly techniques.

dell’isola, l’ammiraglio intravide «la
più bella terra che abbiano mai visto
occhi umani, piena di fiumi profondi,
dove l’erba della spiaggia giunge quasi
al mare», come annotò nei suoi diari. Si
trattava di Holguin, adagiata sull’Atlantico e dirimpettaia delle Bahamas,
con le sue pennellate di spiagge bianche a sfumare nel verde intenso della
costa, le sue acque turchine e i suoi
fondali di fiaba. Un abbraccio schiuso
a sorpresa sull’oceano, svelato – ancor prima di essere visto – dagli scherzi delle onde e dall’aroma afrodisiaco della
criolla, la cucina locale a base di origano e cumino, mista
all’odore penetrante delle brezze saline. A distanza di 500
anni, l’effetto dirompente di questa striscia di tierra cubana
resta immutato: le distese sabbiose a grana fine e le pianure
screziate di vette altere tolgono il fiato. Ma non è tutto. V’è
un incredibile mondo sommerso di colonie spugnose a disegno asimmetrico che s’indispettiscono al passaggio delle
razze, di alghe marine protese a solleticare i granchi e ostriche perlifere asserragliate in un’eleganza collettiva, nobile e
nascosta. Non a caso, questa gemma nord-orientale dell’isola è una delle mete elette dagli appassionati di snorkeling,
affascinati dalle creature misteriose che abitano la barriera e dalle oltre 50 specie di coralli, in special modo quello
nero, incastonato nei rari e preziosi monili della gioielleria
cubana. Dalle acque di Holguin sprigiona una maestosità
selvaggia, una fierezza indomita che si fa strada sulle playas esplodendo nei tramonti di Guardalavaca e inebriandosi
nei mercatini di spezie alle spalle di Esmeralda e Don Lino.
Sono le spiagge color oro e crocevia dell’indipendentismo
e della revolucion, quelle di Doña Victoriana de Ávila, la
benefattrice, e dell’eroico Generale Calixto García, che
hanno impresso in queste zone una traccia importante
dell’orgoglio cubano.

You can only understand a holguinero by breathing in the life
of Parque Calixto García, carefree heart of the city. This colonial

t’s a land rich in gold, spices and
easy landings», said the Guanahanì Indios to Columbus when
he decided to sail to Cuba. And at dawn
of the 28th of October 1492, he spotted
the bay of Baryai on eastern side of the
island, the admiral saw «the most beautiful land that human eyes have ever seen,
full of deep rivers, where the grass of
the beach almost reaches the sea» as he
wrote in his diary. It was about Holguin,
floating on the Atlantic and neighbor
to the Bahamas, with its brush strokes
of white sandy beaches fading in the

intense green of the coast, its turquoise
waters and amazing seabeds. An open
embrace on the ocean, revealed – even
before being seen – by the crashes of
the waves and aphrodisiac aroma of the
criolla, the local dish made with oregano
and cumin, mixed with the penetrating
smells of the saline breezes. 500 years
later, the breaking effect of this stripe
of Cuban tierra remains unchanged: the

isalendo il Nilo lì da dove sboccia nel Mediterraneo, lasciandosi alle spalle
le piramidi e il caos del Cairo, c’è Luxor. Cercando le rovine della Tebe dalle
cento porte – «nella quale le case rigurgitavano di tesori», così nell’Iliade – ci si
immerge in un eccentrico contrasto, dove le spoglie della capitale del mondo antico
ancora torreggiano sul ronzio delle strade di una cittadina di provincia. Un museo
a cielo aperto: basta costeggiare il lato est del Nilo passeggiando per la Corniche –
«Kalesh, kalesh! Miss!», «Felucca, monsieur?», risuonano continue e insistenti le offerte
di cocchieri, marinai e rigattieri che sciamano tra i turisti inermi, armati solo di
pazienza e di un «no, grazie». Basta passeggiare, dicevamo, tra le carovane e i
ristoranti galleggianti della Corniche per imbattersi nei resti del tempio di
Luxor. Custodito da sfingi e colossi di Ramsess II, mostra con orgoglio le
cicatrici del tempo e delle conquiste: il naos dedicato al regno di Alessandro Magno; gli affreschi dei romani che ne fecero un santuario per
i legionari; la moschea di Abū al-Hajjāj, eretta sul tetto del cortile
interno; il vuoto lasciato dall’obelisco di Luxor, che dall’800 dimora sul suolo parigino di place de la Concorde. Poco più a nord,
il complesso di Karnak, un agglomerato templare plasmato e
riplasmato nell’arco di duemila anni dalle volontà di più di
trenta faraoni. Questi templi e cortili del deserto, seppure
spenti e grigi senza i colori di cui erano rivestiti un tempo, sono la città dei vivi, la sponda orientale di quella
che era Tebe. Sì, perché il Nilo, uno strappo verde
nel cuore deserto dell’Africa Sahariana, il Nilo
non è solo culla di civiltà, è anche confine: tra la
vita, l’Est, dove il sole rinasce ogni mattina, e
la morte, l’Ovest, dove ogni giorno va a morire. Proprio a occidente del fiume è dove
re e regine riposano nelle loro Valli – o
riposavano, per quelli trasferiti nella
teca di un qualche museo. Entrare

cosa possa aver provato chi per primo ha messo
piede in queste tombe scavate nella roccia, ferme nel tempo da quasi quattromila anni.
Risalendo ancora il corso del fiume sacro si
arriva ad Assuan, città che, in un certo senso,
è sparsa per tutta l’Egitto: le statue, gli obelischi e le piramidi sono state costruite con il
granito scavato da queste terre. Sconosciuta
ai ritmi turistici del Cairo – lontanissimi, felicemente, gli asfissianti venditori di Luxor
–, amichevole e sonnecchiante all’ombra
dell’omonima diga. Anche qui il passato è
ovunque, ma meno impellente, ed il tempo di farsi un giro in uno dei più brulicanti
mercati del paese e di godersi il sole tramontare tra le palme dell’isola Elefantina non manca. O perché no, assaporare
la genuinità di una tazza di carcadè nel
vicino villaggio nubiano, spontaneo e
accogliente. Insomma, se l’antico Egitto è imponente e misterioso, l’Egitto
moderno è colorato e fiabesco. Simbolo di questa modernità, la prodigiosa
diga di Assuan, eretta per irrigare e
alimentare l’intero paese. Grazie,
sempre, allo scorrere eterno e generoso del Nilo.

of the Kings is entering history: one can only imagine what it might have felt like for
those who first set foot in these tombs carved in rock, immune from the flow of time for
almost four thousand years.
Continuing along the course of the sacred river we arrive in Aswan, a city that, in a
certain sense, is spread through the whole of Egypt: the statues, the obelisks and pyramids were built with granite excavated from these lands. Unknown to the hustle of the
touristic Cairo – far away, finally, the obnoxious vendors of Luxor –, friendly and sleepy in
the shade of the homonymous dam. Here, too, the past is everywhere, but less urgent,
and the time to take a stroll in one of the most bustling markets in the country and enjoy
the sun set among palm trees on the Elephantine Island is not missing. Or why not taste
the genuineness of a cup of carcadè tea in the nearby Nubian village, spontaneous
and welcoming. In short, if ancient Egypt is imposing and mysterious, modern Egypt is
colorful and fairytale like. Symbol of this modernity, the prodigious Aswan Dam, built to
irrigate and power the whole country. With thanks, always, to the generous flow of the
eternal Nile.

ravelling up the Nile there where it meets the Mediterranean, leaving behind the pyramids and the chaos of
Cairo, there is Luxor. Searching of the ruins of Thebes of
the Hundred Gates - «in which the houses were overflowing with
treasures», like in the Iliad - you are immersed in an eccentric
contrast, where the remains of the capital of the ancient world
still tower above the hum of the streets of a town of province. An
open-air museum: you just need
to be along the east side of the
Nile walking around the Corniche
– «Kalesh, kalesh! Miss! », «Felucca, monsieur?», the continuous
and insistent sounds of the offers
of coachmen, sailors, and junk
shop sellers which swarm round
the defenseless tourists, armed

we were saying, between the caravans and floating restaurants of
the Corniche to come across the remains of the temple of Luxor.
Guarded by sphinxes and the colossi of Ramsess II, it proudly
shows the scars of time and achievements: the naos dedicated
to the reign of Alexander the Great; the frescos of the Romans
who turned it into a sanctuary for the legionaries; the Abu alHajjaj mosque, erected on the roof of the inner courtyard; the
emptiness left by the Luxor obelisk, which from the 800s stands
on Paris soil in Place de la Concorde. Further north, the complex of Karnak, a cluster of temples shaped and reshaped over
two thousand years from the will of more than thirty pharaohs.

venditori dall’ottimismo contagioso cercano di arpionare ogni
singolo passante nei suk, i bazar egiziani all’aria aperta. Quello di
Assuan si allunga per 3 chilometri in linea retta, paralleli al fiume,
delimitati da centinaia di multicolori cesti di spezie. Si trova di tutto: fiori essiccati e profumi, prodotti tibici nibiani come tappeti e
zuccotti, ma anche animali impagliati, coccodrilli compresi. Tirare
sul prezzo, ovviamente, è la specialità locale: ogni acquisto è l’inevitabile conclusione di un’estenuante trattativa.

«I don’t know what you're looking for, but I sell it». The noisy merchants with contagious optimism try to spear each passerby in to
the souks, Egyptian outdoor bazaars. The Aswan one stretches
for three kilometers in a straight line, parallel to the river, bordered by hundreds of multicolored baskets of spices. You can find
everything: dried flowers and perfumes, typical Nubian products
such as carpets and pasties, but also stuffed animals, including
crocodiles. Bartering, of course, is the local specialty: every purchase is the inevitable conclusion of an exhausting negotiation.

a un lunga storia
l’edificio di un
bell’azzurro luminoso che si affaccia sul
Lungarno meridionale di Pisa, a pochi passi da Ponte di Mezzo e
da Palazzo Gambacorti, sede del Comune. Le fortune del Palazzo sono legate a doppio filo alle vicende della città toscana, dalla
decadenza nel Rinascimento alla rinascita nei secoli XVI e XVII,
quando grazie ai Medici Pisa tornò ad essere città illustre. Negli
anni passò dalla proprietà dei Sancasciano ai Del Testa, dai Bracci
Cambini agli Archinto. Fu proprio in quell’epoca che assunse il
peculiare colore esterno, così insolito nel Lungarno di oggi.
Il particolare azzurro, trovato sulla facciata sotto gli
strati più recenti di pittura, fu dovuto probabilmente al gusto dei nobili di San
Pietroburgo che furono ospitati nel palazzo in quel
periodo.
L’incredibile potenziale di Palazzo Blu
forse sarebbe andato perduto senza
l’intervento della Fondazione Pisa, che
ha curato il recupero anche dell’aree limitrofe dell’edificio, dando vita ad un
polo culturale. Dopo il restauro, conclusosi nel 2007, sono stati creati ampi
spazi per esposizioni temporanee, un
moderno auditorium e sale dedicate
all’esposizione permanente delle opere
d'arte, articolata in tre sezioni: le collezioni d'arte della Fondazione Pisa,
la dimora aristocratica e la Collezione
Simoneschi. Inoltre il complesso è dotato di un bookshop, una libreria d’arte
e una caffetteria. Visite guidate, audioguide e laboratori didattici offrono
l’occasione per approfondire la visita a
Palazzo Blu.

hat building of a fine light blue
that overlooks the riverside south
of Pisa, just a few steps from the
Ponte di Mezzo and the Gambacorta
Palace, place of the council, has a long
story. The fortunes of the Palace are intertwined with the happenings of the Tuscan
city, from the decline of the Renaissance
to the rebirth in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, when with thanks to the
Medici, Pisa returned to be an illustrious
city. During the years it passed from the
ownership of the Sancascianos to that of
the Del Testas, from the Bracci Cambini to
spaces for temporary exhibitions were
created, a modern auditorium and rooms
dedicated to the permanent exhibition of
works of art, divided into three sections:
the art collections of the Pisa Foundation,
the aristocratic mansion and the Simoneschi Collection. In addition, the complex
has a Bookshop, an art library and a café.
Guided tours, audio guides and workshops provide an opportunity to deepen
the visit to Palazzo Blu.

Modigliani, saranno mostrati al pubblico anche grandi capolavori di artisti dell’epoca, suoi contemporanei e compagni di avventure a
Montparnasse tra i quali Chaim Soutine, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger. Al secondo piano, fino all’inizio del 2015, è
allestita la mostra storica Pisa bombardata Pisa liberata. Circa 50
opere tra disegni, oli e acquarelli, in buona parte provenienti da

Il sabir è un idioma che fino a inizio secolo scorso accomunava
i pescatori di tutti i porti del Mediterraneo, una lingua franca per unire italiani, arabi, spagnoli, francesi. Quale nome più
adatto per il primo festival diffuso delle culture mediterranee,
e quale palcoscenico più dovuto di Lampedusa, terra d’Africa
e isola del Mediterraneo, crocevia di storia e civiltà. Ma, come
ricorda il sindaco Giusi Nicolini, «per il resto del mondo, Lampedusa è una notizia del telegiornale». Per questo motivo è
nato Sabir, il festival che racconta l’identità dell’isola con le parole di chi ci vive: dall’1 al 5 ottobre, cinque giornate di spettacoli, incontri, laboratori e dibattiti tra le vie dell’isola sul ruolo
di Lampedusa come ponte tra i popoli del Mediterraneo. Per
mostrare al mondo che Lampedusa non è solo flussi migratori e tragedie sul mare – nonostante abbia sempre risposto
con solidarietà e umanità a queste emergenze. Per restituire
all’isola un’identità che le è stata strappata. Per esaltarne il va-

Lampedusa tells
her story
to the Mediteranean
Sabir is a language which until the beginning of the last century brought together
fishermen from all ports of the Mediterranean, a vehicular languagethat combined
Italian, Arabic, Spanish and French. And
what better name for the first festival of
the Mediterranean cultures, and what better stage than that of Lampedusa, African
land and island of the Mediterranean,
a crossroads of history and civilization.
But, as remembered by the mayor Giusy
Nicolini, «To the rest of the world, Lampedusa is a city from the news». It is for this
reason that Sabir has been conceived, a
festival that tells the identity of the island
using the words of those who live there:
from the 1st to 5th of October, five days of
shows, meetings, workshops and debates
through the streets of the island with the
role Lampedusa as a bridge between the
people of the Mediterranean. To show the
world that Lampedusa is not only a flow
for migrants and tragedies of the sea, although it has always responded with solidarity and humanity to these emergencies.
To help Lampedusa’s torn identity return
to the island. To enhance its social, cultural
and economic value. To make it an open
and supportive place where all countries
and cultures that surround it can meet. The
Festival Sabir, in its first edition, is a direct
dialogue spoken through theater and music, with the artistic direction entrusted to
Ascanio Celestini and Fiorella Mannoia.

of “Cantieri Meticci”, a Bolognese theater
company formed as an intercultural project
and now an important reference point for
migrants and refugees, took to the streets
to collect stories and thoughts from the
residents – temporary and permanent –
which were then screened in video through
the streets of the island. In conjunction
with the anniversary of the wreck, the Festival wanted to remember the victims of October the 3rd 2013 with a day intended for
commemoration: Lampedusa dedicated
to their memory a long procession up to
the Gate of Europe, a wreath dropped on
the water’s surface and a stone placed on
the bottom of the sea.

pensieri degli abitanti – temporanei e permanenti –, che sono
poi stati proiettati in video tra le vie dell’isola. In concomitanza
con l’anniversario del naufragio, il Festival ha voluto ricordare
le vittime del 3 ottobre 2013 con una giornata destinata alla
memoria e alla commemorazione: Lampedusa ha dedicato al
ricordo un lungo corteo fino alla Porta d'Europa, una corona di
fiori a pelo dell’acqua e una lapide posta sul fondo del mare.

a New York a Milano, passando per Parigi, la parola d’ordine è il mixage. Sdrammatizzare lo chic
e impreziosire il casual, essere femminili con un
pizzico di virilità, sentirsi cittadine del mondo grazie a
un dettaglio etnico che spunta d’improvviso su una mise
metropolitana. Sono questi gli ingredienti che la stagione
fredda ci consiglia di combinare allo scopo di mettere in

pieghe a coste di maglioni over size, meglio se maschili, e lo
stile navy preso in prestito dal mare si copre di lana grezza
traghettando il sogno lontano di un’improbabile crociera

rom New York to Milan, passing though Paris, the watchword is mixage. Defuse chic and embellish casual, to be feminine with a hint of virility, to feel
citizens of the world thanks to an ethnic detail that suddenly stands out on a
mise subway. These are the ingredients that the cold season advises us to combine
in order to emphasise, as the only brand, led by inspiration from the trends of the
moment of course, but above all characterised by taste and personal choices. What
we will be seeing is winter wearing nature and exoticism printed on skin, triumphant
in the pochettes animalier of Scervino and Jimmy Choo, or in clusters of orchids

that bloom on the motorcycle and suede jackets London Hide style. Flowers and
leaves in vivid colors are in fact the real novelty of the season. Far from being “the
winter o our discontents”, they echo a famous Shakespearean verse, snow disguises
as a lotus and mocks the exotic paintings of Gauguin. It is contrast to dominate the
scene, in a marriage of opposites in which stretchy mini-dresses peep out through
the folds of oversized sweaters, preferably male like, and the navy style borrowed
from the sea is covered with raw wool ferrying the distant dream of an improbable
cruise to the ice. Must-haves of the season, the sheath dress. Revisited, of course,
with eclecticism ranging from finely embroidered silk in geisha style proposed by
Blumarine to printed ethinic patterns and liberty by Missoni. The fact remains that
the “simple dress” is the emblem of the oxymoron between sophistication and nonchalance that epitomizes the new trend. What makes the cold season cool in 2015,
in short, is making the impossible possible and practical irrationality, forgetting the
cold chasing the sun even if only in the short line of clothing designed to be worn
in the tropics, but cut in softer and welcoming textures of Angora and cashmere.
Finally, giving welcome to the ethnic traits of modern glam on public sidewalks, in
an idealistic embrace to the whole world.

certamente, e con picchi di eclettismo che vanno dalla seta
finemente ricamata in stile geisha proposta da Blumarine
agli stampati etnici e liberty di Missoni. Resta il fatto che
“l’abitino semplice” è l’emblema dell’ossimoro tra ricercatezza e noncuranza che incarna i nuovi trend. Ciò che fa
cool la stagione fredda 2015, insomma, è rendere possibile
l’impossibile e concreto l’irrazionale, dimenticarsi del gelo
rincorrendo il calore anche se solo nelle linee brevi di indumenti studiati per esibirsi ai tropici, ma ritagliati nei tessuti
più morbidi e accoglienti dell’angora e del cachemire. Dare,
infine, il benvenuto ai tratti etnici del glam sui modernissimi marciapiedi cittadini, in un abbraccio idealistico al
mondo intero.

Denso, puntuale, ricercato fino
alla perfezione, un ricamatore
delle parole, un giocoliere della lingua, un abile burattinaio in
grado di condurre il lettore a suo
piacimento, rendendolo molle
come un innamorato, facendogli
provare il piacere di chi si abbandona tra braccia sicure. Questo
è Nicola Lagioia. I suoi libri sono
come un perfetto giro di valzer,
i capitoli sono circolari e ritmati
come i passi del ballo. L’autore è
il cavaliere che accompagna con fermezza, armonia e incanto.
Incantevole è la sua scrittura, talmente perfetta da far provare il
piacere quasi euforico che si incontra di fronte al Bello. Alcune
frasi incantano per la scelta raffinata di ogni loro singolo vocabolo, la puntualità della sua scrittura lascia sbalorditi e quando
avrete voglia di rileggere qualche passaggio – e accade spesso
– noterete molto altro ancora: la musicalità del ritmo, l’armonia
con il tutto, l’eleganza del suono, la concretezza della materia.
Abbiamo dovuto aspettare ben cinque anni dalla pubblicazione del suo ultimo libro, Riportando tutto a casa, ma l’attesa è
ripagata.
Raccolta di racconti in cui la
struttura narrativa classica è
solo un lontano ricordo: affrontare la lettura di Le persone, soltanto le persone con
in mente gli schemi classici
sarà dunque una delusione
per il lettore. Ma è questo il
momento interessante che gli
scritti di Christian Raimo ci offrono: rimettere in discussione le regole drammaturgiche
canoniche, provare ad affrontare il testo da lettori vergini. Quest’ultima è un’operazione
molto complessa, ma approssimarsi a farlo porta sicuramente
a risultati inaspettati. Quindi interessanti. Quindi meritevoli.
I personaggi di Raimo ci fanno pensare all’autore stesso e
alla sua generazione, agli anni di oggi e a quel precariato dei
sentimenti, dei valori, del semplice vivere quotidiano, quella
sospensione della crescita e che protrae l’adolescenza oltre
ogni misura. Tutto è sospeso e i personaggi fluttuano nelle
loro stesse vite e abbiamo una certa difficoltà nell’afferrarli.
Persone, soltanto persone. Che forse non saprebbero esse
stesse appellarsi con un pizzico di puntualità in più.
La raccolta di racconti di William Faulkner, edita in Italia da
Adelphi, ci porta nell’America
degli stati centrali, quella che ha
patito le guerre civili e la schiavitù
con i suoi razzismi mai estirpati.
Gli stati americani del sud, i neri,
la società divisa in classi, i braccianti e i benestanti, personaggi
ai confini che si srotolano come
biglie sul terreno dell’America più
ruvida. Realtà dure, aspre, da dimenticare e dove non c’è spazio
per il sogno e forse neanche per
un futuro migliore. Uomini e donne prigionieri di un determinismo da cui non riesce a liberarli l’effimera euforia dei balli, del
whisky, del gioco d’azzardo, dei combattimenti dei galli, tutti
sembrano abitati da pensieri imperscrutabili. Eppure proprio in
questo agitarsi impotente Faulkner trova il segreto «del cuore
umano e dei suoi dilemmi»: un segreto esteso a tutto il mondo
animato e inanimato, se persino delle vecchie finestre sfondate
ricordano «occhi colpiti da cateratte». Un segreto che può essere rivelato – e riscattato – solo da una lingua e uno stile attenti
ai battiti più riposti.

sofferenza più grande, non è che il condimento della ferita che
questo padre e questa figlia si portano nel cuore da tanti anni.
Perché c’è un dolore più grande della morte naturale, ed è la
perdita di qualcuno che è ancora vivo.

Dense, detailed, refined to perfection, a weaver of words, a juggler of language, a skilled puppeteer able to lead the reader where
he wants, making the reader malleable as a lover, like feeling the
pleasure of indulging in safe arms. This is Nicola Lagioia. His books
are like a perfect waltz swirl, his chapters are circular and rhythmic
like dance steps. The author is the knight who accompanies firmly,
harmoniously and charmingly.
His writing is enchanting, so perfect it allows to reach that euphoric
pleasure that comes when in front of beauty. Some sentences do
enchant you for the fine selection of their every word, the punctuality of his writing leave you stunned and when you want to re-read
passages - and this happens - you notice even more detail: the musicality of rhythm, harmony, the elegance of sound, the concreteness of matter.
We had to wait five years after the publication of his latest book,
Bringing It Back Home, but the wait has paid off.
A collection of short stories in which the classical narrative structure
is only a distant memory: managing the read of Le persone, soltanto le persone (People, Only People) with in mind classical schemes
will therefore be a disappointment for the reader. But these are
the interesting moments that the writing of Christian Raimo offers:
putting into question the rules of dramatic canons, trying to tackle
the text as virgin readers. The latter is a very complex strategy, but
trying to do so will surely lead to unexpected results. Interesting.
Deserving.
Raimo’s characters make us think of the author himself and his generation, days like today and the insecurities of feelings, of values,
from simple everyday life, like the suspension of growth which takes
adolescence beyond all measures. Everything is suspended, the
characters float in their own lives and we have some difficulty in
grasping them. People, only people. That perhaps they themselves
do not know how to add a bit of punctuality to their lives.
The collection of short stories by William Faulkner published in Italy
by Adelphi, takes us to Central America, the place that has suffered
civil wars and slavery with its racism never eradicated. The American
Southern States, the black people, society divided into classes, the
laborers and the wealthy, characters on the border that unroll like
marbles on the rough ground of America. A harsh and bitter reality
to forget and where there is no space for dreams and maybe even
for a better future. Men and women prisoners of determinism from
which even the short-lived euphoria of dancing, whiskey, gambling,
fighting cocks, is not able to free them, everyone seems to be filled
with inscrutable thoughts. Yet in this bustling helpless Faulkner
finds the secret «of the human heart and its dilemmas» a secret
extended to the whole animate and inanimate world, even the old
broken windows are reminiscent of «eyes affected by cataract». A
secret that can be revealed, and used, only by a language and style
careful of beats.
Margherita is no more than a child when her mother suddenly dies.
Alone in the world, in cold Denmark, she is put on a plane for Italy:
the country where she was born and where her biological father has
lived for many years in a state of forced distance that was imposed
on him by her mother. The mother had taken her daughter from the
father, tearing their hearts with an unnatural break. So unnatural as
to make it more painful.
This relationship which was so abruptly and dramatically interrupted years before has to be re-sawn, slowly, with difficulty and pain,
because the time passed has created bigger and bigger wounds,
it made the gap more and more desperate. The premature death
of a mother, bereavement comes from the loss of a parent, which
to anyone would be the greatest suffering, but here it is just the
re-opening of a wound that this father and daughter carried in their
hearts for so many years. Because there is a pain greater than natural death, it is the loss of someone who is still alive.

Fabi, Silvestri e Gazzè. Ascoltando il primo lavoro dei tre “cantamici” romani c’è da pensare siano nati per fare musica assieme:
il risultato è un artista a tre teste inedito e originale. In Il padrone
della festa voci e parole del trio si allacciano e abbracciano come
i rami dell’albero sulla cover: quella di Max, soffice e sognatrice,
spalla a spalla a un Fabi sempre romantico, è il cuscino perfetto
per le ritmiche e le ironie graffianti di Daniele, senza che nessuno
soffochi l’altro. Partendo dall’atmosfera pacata e rassegnata di
Alzo le Mani, l’opening track che canta la poesia irriproducibile
del quotidiano, e passando per Arsenico, filastrocca recitata dalle trombe, dal clarinetto e dalla rime di Gazzè, è facile cogliere
l’idea di un singolo in un passaggio o in una strofa. Ma il risultato
finale ha un’anima corale dalle mille sfaccettature, nei testi quanto nelle musiche.
Una delle band più innovatrici degli anni ’10, gli alt-J scelgono di
non mettere troppo mano alla formula vincente del primo album.
Mantenendo il loro stile barocco e ricercato, le strette geometrie
musicali di An Awesome Wave lasciano spettro alle melodie più
organiche e melodrammatiche di This is all Yours: un puzzle forse
insolvibile, un concept album a tema libero dove Joe Newman
canta ogni piccolo dettaglio possa riportare a mente, dal lato
freddo di un cuscino ad una scena di Alien. Arrival in Nara, la loro
canzone più nuda fin’ora, lascia presto spazio alle licenze lascive
delle bizzarre metafore di Every Other Freckle, subito seguita da
Left Hand Free, singolo più da etichetta che non da sperimentazione. Ma l’interruzione è breve, e fino all’outro Leaving Nara
l’album è un continuo crescendo/decrescendo di synth e intrecci
vocali.

tracklist di Queen Forever, doppio album che racchiude grandi
classici – da Somebody to Love a Who Wants to Live Forever –,
rivisitazioni e inediti della band inglese che ha scritto la storia. La
raccolta, 36 tracce, è stata curata direttamente da Brian May e
Roger Taylor: «Avevamo un po’ più materiale del previsto chiuso
in un cassetto, dei brani fantastici che non sono mai stati ascoltati

three Roman “singer-friends” there is
to think they were
born to make music
together: the result is a three-headed artist original and unpublished. In Il padrone della festa voices and words from the trio tie
and embrace like the branches of the tree on the cover: the one of
Max, soft and dreamy, shoulder to shoulder with an always romantic Fabi, being the perfect pillow for the beats and the scratching
ironies of Daniele, all without one smothering the other. Starting
from the calm and resigned atmosphere of Alzo le Mani, the opening track which sings the poetry of everyday, passing for Arsenico,
a nursery rhyme recited by trumpets, clarinet and the rhymes of
Gazzè, it is easy to grasp the idea of a single in a step or in a verse.
But the end result has a multi-faceted choral soul, in the lyrics as in
the music.
One of the most innovative bands of the 2010s, alt-J choose not
to touch too much of the winning formula from the first album. By
keeping their style baroque and sophisticated, the narrow musical
geometries of An Awesome Wave leave space to the more organic
and melodramatic melodies of This is All Yours: perhaps an unsolvable puzzle, a concept album with a free theme where Joe Newman sings every little detail that comes to mind, from the cold side
of a pillow to a scene from Alien. Arrival in Nara, their most naked
song so far, leaves room for the lascivious licenses of the bizarre
metaphors in Every Other
Freckle, immediately followed by Left Hand Free,
a single more of label than
of experimentation. But
the break is short, until
Leaving Nara the album is
a continuous up and down
of synth and vocal harmonies.

UNA GUIDA RAPIDA PER AIUTARE
IL PASSEGGERO
Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione Europea ha adottato nuove regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi che possono essere
introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole si applicano nei confronti
tutti i passeggeri in partenza dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il relativo
bagaglio a mano devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi.
Comunque, le nuove regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere
acquistati presso gli esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di viaggio od a bordo di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione
Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali
modifiche.
A SHORT GUIDE TO HELP YOU
To protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives, the European Union (EU)
introduced new security rules to limit the amount of liquids that you can take through
security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all
destinations.
This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However, the
new rules do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond the
checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the EU
and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

airborne, only if the “in-flight mode” has been selected on ground.
Jet Lag
Il vostro “orologio biologico” può a volte non gradire i cambi di fuso
legati al viaggio aereo: senso di affaticamento, difficoltà a prendere
sonno e riduzione dell’appetito sono tra i sintomi più comuni. Per minimizzare l’impatto di tale fenomeno, si consiglia di dormire bene la
notte prima del volo e di mantenere le proprie “lancette biologiche”
sull’orario di casa se la permanenza nel luogo di destinazione non dovesse superare i due giorni. In caso di una permanenza più prolungata, è
opportuno adeguarsi il prima possibile all’orario locale e attenersi a regole di vita
salutari, tenendo presente che il recupero degli effetti “jet lag” è generalmente
più rapido se si viaggia con direzione ovest e più lento con direzione est.
Sometimes you “biological clock” may not welcome the time changes involved
in air travel and it finds ways of letting you know about this. Some of the most
common symptoms are a sense of weariness, difficulty in falling asleep at night
and appetite loss. To minimize jet lag effects, make sure you get a good night
sleep before leaving and, if you plan to stay abroad less than two days, keep you
biological clock set on your home time (i.e. keep your regular eating and sleeping
habits). In the event of a longer trip, it is advisable to get used to local time as
soon as possible and to conduct a regular and healthy life. Remember that getting over jet lag is generally quicker when travelling westwards than eastwards.

Iniziate gli esercizi stando seduti in modo comodo ed eretto.
Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your seat in an upright position.

Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. Ripetete per cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes pointing
upward, then point your toes downward Perform this exercise
five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando nuovamente il piede
sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso con l’altra gamba. Ripetete cinque
volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few seconds and
then release, placing your feet back on the floor. Continue with
the other leg. Repeat five times for each leg.

Mettete le mani sotto una coscia e sollevatele dolcemente verso il busto. Ruotate la caviglia in modo circolare per 5 secondi.
Ripetete con l’altra gamba. Ripetete questo esercizio cinque
volte per gamba.
Place your hands under one thigh, and gently lift toward your
chest. Rotate your ankle in a circular motion for 5 seconds. Repeat with the other leg. Perform this exercise five times with
both legs.
