Benito and Giannola Nonino mark a new turning point, they distil the whole
grape and create ÙE®, Grape Distillate, distilling in a single operation the skin,
the pulp and the juice of grapes. The Grape Distillate contains the elegance of
wine distillate and the character of Grappa.
1ST DECEMBER 1984 To highlight the preciousness of this new Distillate, the
Noninos ask Venini, Master Glassmaker in Murano, to flying-hand blow a bottle
with the image of a bunch grapes contained within the glass.
This was the beginning of the precious Nonino Collection ÙE® Grape Distillate
Cru Monovitigno® Picolit, which from year to year will be protected in dated
bottles flying-hand made by Venini, Baccarat and Riedel.
NOVEMBER 1997 To celebrate One Hundred years of distillation, the Noninos
draw from their aging cellars ÙE® Cru Monovitigno® Picolit harvest 1986
preserved in Nevers barriques; 400 flying hand blown dated decanters made in
crystal by Riedel, design Luca Cendali.
22ND JUNE 2000 At Christie’s in London, during the most important auction of
Italian wines and distillates ever held until that moment, some pieces of the Nonino
Collection are up for auction and realize from £ 1,595 equal to € 2,531.00 / harvest
1990 to £ 1,595 equal to € 2,664.00 / harvest 1989.
29TH OCTOBER 2000 At the Salone del Gusto in Turin Alain Senderens, chef
at “Lucas Carton” in Paris, and Alfonso Iaccarino, chef at “don Alfonso 1890”
in Sant’Agata sui due golfi, are the godfathers of ÙE® Nonino La Riserva dei
Cent’anni.
14TH DECEMBER 2000 Jewels and jewels. The Nonino Collection is exhibited in
Rome in the world’s temple of jewels: Bulgari, via dei Condotti.
4TH APRIL 2001 At Finarte in Milan ÙE® Cru Monovitigno® Picolit/harvest 1884/
La Murrina is up for auction and realizes € 2,169.00.
4TH DECEMBER 2003 The President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio
Ciampi, awards Giannola and Benito Nonino the prestigious Leonardo Prize for

GIOIELLO®
It is the most ancient and traditional distillate of
Northern Italy; it is obtained distilling the solid
part of grapes: pomace.
The grape Distillate created by Giannola and
Benito Nonino on November 27th 1984; it is
obtained distilling the skin, the pulp and the juice
of the grapes in a single operation. ÙE® contains
the elegance of wine distillates and the character
of grappa.

Benito and Giannola Nonino,
respectful of tradition,
revolutionize the way of producing
and introducing Grappa in Italy
and in the world. They create single
varietal grappa, Monovitigno®
Nonino, distilling the pomace of
Picolit grapes separated from the
other. Their success is so great to
induce Italian and foreign distillers
to follow the Nonino model.
27th NOVEMBER 1984
The Noninos mark a new
turning point, they distil the
whole grape and create ÙE®: the
Grape Distillate. The Ministerial
authorization for the production of
Grape Distillate (D.M. 20.10.84) is
granted following a specific request
by the Noninos. Once again, the
success is so great to induce Italian
and foreign distillers to follow the
Nonino model.
3rd APRIL 2000
Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta
Nonino, after years of research,
create GIOIELLO®, the distillate
of ‘Purity’, the aquavitae obtained
from the distillation of pure honey.
4th DECEMBER 2003
The President of the Italian
Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi,
awards Giannola and Benito
Nonino the prestigious Leonardo
Prize for Italian Quality for “the
absolute Quality level, Research
and Innovation… The Noninos
are acknowledged as the true
Ambassadors of Italian Grappa
throughout the world”.
THE NONINO DISTILLERIES
Unique in the world, they consist
of five Artisanal Distilleries, each
with 12 exclusive batch steam stills
for the production of the inimitable
Nonino Distillates, respecting the
Tradition and the rhythms of true
craftsmanship.
The pomace and the grapes are
de-stalked and fermented under
vacuum at controlled temperature
in stainless steel tanks and
they are distilled immediately
after fermentation, at the same
time of the harvest. The batch
distillation takes place very slowly,
with head and tail cutting, to
allow the volatile components,
responsible for the fragrances,
a proper evaporation and
consequent condensation keeping
intact the precious organoleptic
characteristics of the vine variety
chosen.

AGEING CELLARS
Since 1952 the Aging Cellars
of the Nonino Distilleries have
accommodated small barrels
made of different kinds of wood.
Today they boast 1855 in Nevers,
Limousin and Grésigne and
ex-Sherry oak, Acacia, wild Cherry
and Pear wood, which preserve the
precious Nonino distillates: Grappa
and ÙE®. Aged Grappa and
Distillates are bottled after natural
ageing in barriques without the
addition of coloring agents.

purchase of the primary products
and follows the various phases
of distillation to guarantee the
maximum quality of the distillate.

Picolit Cru grapes - Nonino Vineyard,
Buttrio, Friuli. Unique for character and
elegance. Admired all over the world for
its uniqueness it is preserved in bottles
made year by year by the glass masters
Baccarat, Riedel or Venini.
Picolit is the noblest vine of Friuli, it
is white ‘spargola’ grapes that suffer of
floral abortion, 48% vol
The Nonino Collection today consists
of 27 pieces for a nominal value of over
30,000.00 €. Some pieces, today almost
unobtainable, were up for auction at
Christie’s in London in 2000:
