l cinema ci porta in luoghi nuovi ed entusiasmanti permettendoci di rimanere seduti
dove siamo. Dato il numero infinito di titoli, è praticamente impossibile esaurire la bellezza
e la diversità che l’Italia offre agli spettatori. Via via che esploravamo le location utilizzate
nei film, ci siamo resi conti che in alcuni posti bisogna andare di persona. Quindi fatevi
ispirare dai seguenti film e scegliete le vostre destinazioni.
Cinema takes us to new and exciting places without ever leaving our seats. With
countless titles among the ranks, it is virtually impossible to exhaust the beauty and
diversity Italy offers audiences. As we explored film locations used in Italy, it became clear
that some places you just need to experience for yourself. So take a cue from the films we
know and love to pick your destination spots from top to bottom.
Adventures in the North
Torino, 1969: siamo in Piazza Castello dove il regista britannico Peter Collinson sta girando un
giallo intitolato ‘Un colpo all’italiana’ con Michael Caine nella parte di un truffatore, Charlie
Croker. La scena dell’inseguimento dove Croker e la sua squadra scappano dalla polizia alla
guida di alcune Mini Cooper inizia all’interno di Palazzo Madama dove le auto percorrono lo
scalone per poi fuggire nelle vie della città. La città fluttuante di Venezia è una delle location
cinematografiche preferite per la sua laguna e per l’atmosfera bizantina. Woody Allen cerca
di incontrare 'casualmente' Julia Roberts facendo jogging tra le sue calli nella commedia
musicale ‘Tutti dicono I Love You’. In Piazza San Marco sono state girate molte scene. Il

filming his crime caper ‘The Italian Job’ starring a young Michael Caine as conman Charlie
Croker. The chase scene where Croker and his team flee police driving Mini Coopers starts
here in Palazzo Madama where the cars drive down the grand staircase into the city streets.
The floating city of Venice is a film favourite for its waterfront location and Byzantine
meets Gothic feel. Woody Allen attempts to ‘accidentally’ bump into Julia Roberts jogging
through its streets in the 1996 musical comedy ‘Everyone Says I Love You’. St. Mark’s
Square has been the backdrop for many a scene. Caffé Florian is where Matt Damon and
Gwyneth Paltrow have a coffee in the psychological thriller ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ while
Ripley’s apartment in the film uses parts of the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel.

The scenic hills and towns of Tuscany have hosted many a film crew. Roberto
Rossellini’s WWII film ‘Paisan’ recreated air raids over the city of Florence, while
Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) worked as a curator at the Capponi Library, took
evening strolls in Piazza della Signoria and enjoyed his cappuccinos at Caffè Gilli in
Piazza della Repubblica. A trip to Florence is not complete without buying a piece from
one of the jewellery shops on Ponte Vecchio – the bridge connecting the city along the
Arno River. The officer on Lecter’s trail buys a bracelet here for fingerprints.

La commedia romantica del 1953 di William Wyler, intitolata ‘Vacanze romane,’
vede una giovane Audrey Hepburn nei panni di una principessa fuggita per esplorare
Roma con Gregory Peck. In una scena la Hepburn mangia un gelato sulla gradinata
di Piazza di Spagna e in un’altra Peck le fa uno scherzo alla La Bocca della Verità. La
straziante scena finale in cui la principessa sceglie il dovere invece che l’amore è stata
girata a Palazzo Colonna. Anita Eckberg e Marcello Mastroianni hanno girato il bacio
più famoso della storia nella Fontana di Trevi, in Piazza di Trevi. Non vi consigliamo
di entrare nella fontana, ma dovete assolutamente vedere questa trionfante opera
d’arte immortalata da Federico Fellini ne ‘La Dolce Vita,’ un film sulla gloriosa vita
dei protagonisti delle cronache mondane italiane degli anni Sessanta. Una passeggiata
in Via Vittorio Veneto vi darà un’idea di com’era la vita ai tempi in cui le celebrità
riempivano locali quali il Café de Paris. Tanti film che abbiamo citato hanno una
cosa in comune: Cinecittà Studios, a 20 minuti d’auto dal centro di Roma. Lì sono
state realizzate oltre 3.000 produzioni tra cui ‘Ben Hur’ (1959) con Charlton Heston,
‘Cleopatra’ (1963) con Elizabeth Taylor e Richard Burton e ‘Gangs of New York’ di
Martin Scorsese.
William Wyler’s 1953 romantic comedy ‘Roman Holiday’ features a young Audrey
Hepburn as a runaway princess exploring Rome with Gregory Peck. It’s at the Spanish
Steps that Hepburn enjoys a gelato while her costar plays a gag on her at La Bocca della
Verità – the mouth of truth. The final heartbreaking scene where the princess chooses
duty over love was filmed in Palazzo Colonna. Anita Eckberg and Marcello Mastroianni
made film history kissing in Rome’s Trevi Fountain in Piazza di Trevi. While we don’t
advise you jump in, definitely visit the triumphant artwork immortalized in Federico
Fellini’s ‘La Dolce Vita’ about the glamorous lives of 1960s Italian glitterati. A stroll
down the posh Via Vittorio Veneto will give you a taste of what it was like back in
its heyday when celebrities would fill patios like the Café de Paris. What many of the
films we mention have in common is Cinecittà Studios, a 20-minute drive outside of
Rome’s centre. Over 3,000 productions have been filmed here including ‘Ben Hur’ (1959)
starring Charlton Heston, ‘Cleopatra’ (1963) with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

Accomodandosi sul sedile di guida, che non ha niente da
invidiare per qualità dei pellami e rifiniture a una poltrona da
salotto, si respira il classico profumo delle auto nuove. Siamo
sul Lago di Garda per un evento dedicato alla nuova Maserati
GranCabrio Sport, risultato di quasi 100 anni d’ingegneria
automobilistica.
I fratelli Maserati iniziarono a lavorare sulle auto da corsa fin
dall’adolescenza e nel 1914 fondarono l’azienda a Bologna. Il
simbolo del Tridente, infatti, deriva dalla statua di Nettuno che
campeggia nella piazza principale della città.
Maserati è da tempo nota nel mondo per i successi nelle corse
automobilistiche e per la sua tecnologia innovativa, che si
ritrova in tutta la gamma di sedan, coupé e cabriolet. All’evento
abbiamo incontrato Giulio Pastore, il Regional Manager Central
South Europe di Maserati e gli abbiamo chiesto cosa distingue il
Tridente nel mondo delle auto di lusso.
S
ettling into the driver’s seat whose comfort rivals that of a
living room armchair, we inhale that unmistakable scent of new
car, pressing gently on the gas. We are on Lake Garda for an
event dedicated to the new Maserati GranCabrio Sport. Nearly
100 years of automobile engineering have led up to this model.
The Maserati brothers began tuning cars for race events in
their teens, starting their own company in 1914 in the city of
Bologna. The Trident symbol was in fact inspired by the statue
of Neptune in the city’s main square.
Maserati has long been known in the world of competitive
racing for its innovative technology, which goes into its range of
models for a ‘road-legal racing’ experience. We caught up with
Maserati’s Regional Manager for Central South Europe, Giulio
Pastore at the event. We asked him what sets the company
apart in the world of luxury vehicles.
