SPECIALISED TRANSLATION AND CONFERENCE INTERPRETING
2nd Cycle Degree
(2 years – 120 credits)
Faculty of Interpreting, Translation, Linguistic and Cultural Studies
Students have the opportunity to choose between two specialisations:
1) Conference Interpreting
The course aims to provide: - high cultural and linguistic qualification in English and another European Language (French,
Spanish or German) and refinement of Italian; - professional expertise in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting to be used
in contexts where top-level, formal and cultural linguistic mediation is required; - awareness and knowledge of language for
special purposes; - fundamentals of law, contemporary history, sociology of cultural and communication processes, Information
Technology applied to Interpreting.
Career possibilities:
The excellent skills acquired in the techniques of interpreting will allow graduates to work in private enterprises as well as in
public national and international institutions and agencies, such as ONU, UNESCO, FAO and the European Parliament.
2) Specialised Translation
The course aims to provide the students with a specialized competence in order to have an in-depth professional approach on
technical translation. Lectures will focus on theoretical and pratical aspects of transaltion, specialized terminology and styles.
Lessons will also focus on the refinement of Italian and the other languages (English and another language among French,
Spanish or German), on activities of editing and I.T. applied to translation.
Career possibilities:
Graduates will be able to hold prestigious positions in the publishing industry, national and international institutions, boards and
institutions operating in the fields of teaching and research as well as in big corporations and banks.
