CWL DEVELOPMENT DAY The Toronto Archdiocesan CWL Council is hosting a Development Day on Saturday, February 17th at St. Gregory the Great Parish Hall. The theme is "Love One Another In the Heart of the Universe - A Faith Day". The cost for the day is $10.00, coffee, tea & cold drinks are provided, however you are requested to bring a brown bag lunch. CWL JANUARY GENERAL MEETING Our monthly meeting will be held on Monday, January 22nd at 7:30 p.m., room 1 of the Parish Centre. All ladies of the parish are welcome to join us. Yes, 5 Whitby Scouts, founded by Father Leo Austin in this Parish, is celebrating their 50th year of Scouting and we are planning a reunion of past members in February of 2007. Junior/Senior Kindergarten School Registration The Durham Catholic District School Board will be holding registration for Junior and Senior Kindergarten in all Catholic schools in Durham Region during the week of January 15-19, 2007. For specific dates and times to register please call the local Catholic School. All Catholic families are welcome and encouraged to register at this time for programs beginning in September 2007. CRITERIA: 1. Children registering for Junior Kindergarten must be 4 years of age on or before December 31, 2007. 2. Children registering for Senior Kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before December 31, 2007. 3. To register your child, one or both parents/guardians must be Catholic and registered Separate School supporter(s). Please note: Parents must bring proof of age in the form of a Baptismal Certificate and one of the following: Birth Certificate, Birth Registration or Passport. Join us for an evening of entertainment provided by the talented members of the St. John the Evangelist Parish family. We offer the audience performances that will appeal to both young and old. The tickets are available this weekend at family friendly prices. $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for youths 15 and under. The seven-week program will be held in the St. Joseph’s Room on Thursday nights from 7:30 – 10:00 pm. The fee is $150.00 per couple. FIRST EUCHARIST REGISTRATION 2006 - 2007 Grade 2 - All Schools Thursday, January 18, 2007, 7:00 p.m. in the Church A photocopy of your child’s Baptism Certificate is required to register for this sacrament. A $10 fee is requested for each child to cover the cost of a book entitled “We Share in the Eucharist”, and miscellaneous program expenses. Please mark your calendars. SENIORS’ LUNCHEON The Seniors’ Luncheon is a program which has run in the parish for several years. It has been supported by dedicated volunteers and attended by even more participants. Over the past few years, however, we have seen a steady decline in attendance and have decided, after much thought and discussion with the Pastoral Council, that the ministry will end with the New Year. We would like to thank Sharon Ladouceur and her team, and all the teams, who have given their time over the years to service this ministry.
