Fr Taemoon left last week to do mission work in China and Fr Salty leaves in about ten days to return to the Philippines to be chaplain at a very large hospital. Please join me in thanking these great priests for their service to our parish and praying for their new assignments. Fathers, we came to know and love you. Thank you for who you are and what you did for our parish!! I am happy to announce that, as of this week, we have a new priest living with us and serving the parish part-time. His name is Fr Livinus Anweting. He is from Nigeria and is here in New York studying his doctorate in religious education at Fordham. I have come to appreciate Livinus greatly as a man and as a priest in the short time I have known him and I have no doubt he will become a beloved member of our family very soon! When you see Fr Livinus, please go up to him and introduce yourselves. Fr Livinus' English is excellent and he has told me he is looking forward to studying Spanish. Let's teach him Italian while he is at it!! Finally, I must say that I'm looking forward to celebrating with all of you the Feast of St Anthony. The feast begins Wednesday of this week. I am very appreciative of Frank Franz who has been our point person for the many aspects of the preparation. And he has done all of this work pro-bono. Fr. In some ways, every Sunday is a feast of the Eucharist. In the last century attention to Eucharistic devotions declined, while more people received frequent Communion. Recent efforts to revitalize adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist through Perpetual Adoration, Corpus Christi celebrations, and Eucharistic Congresses have brought us back into balance. At Mass, when we receive Communion we are honoring and celebrating the precious gift of the Lord’s own Body and Blood. Communion is a fulfillment of Christ’s promise to be always with us. And Jesus in the Eucharist always requires a response from us. At the end of every Mass we are sent forth to love and serve the Lord. He gives us his very self—the greatest gift of all—so that we can go into the world and give in return. Living Stewardship Now “Lord Jesus Christ, we worship you living among us in the sacrament of your body and blood. May we offer to our Father in heaven a solemn pledge of undivided love. May we offer to our brothers and sisters a life poured out in loving service of that kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever” HOLY NAME SOCIETY All men of the parish are invited to join the members of the Holy Name Society at their monthly Corporate Communion Mass next Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting after Mass, in the Monsignor Ruvo Meeting Room, 2410 Hughes Avenue. There will be a review from My Catholic Faith on Our Lord Jesus Christ; The Incarnation and The Nativity, followed by a brief meeting. Coffee and buns will be served. There will be no meetings in July and August. Members will attend the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Corporate Communion Masses on July 12, 2015 and August 9, 2015.
