“Qual è la vera tecnica coreografica? Come si può trasformare in danza
il linguaggio del corpo dando vita a un lavoro che si possa dire ‘nuovo’?
Questo progetto si propone di stimolare il pensiero coreografico e di creare
un ponte tra le idee artistiche più significative del nostro tempo: dalla
performance alla visual art, dall’architettura al linguaggio multimediale.
Come reagisce e risponde lo sguardo di ciascuno alla complessità degli
impulsi? La coreografia deve esplorare e acquisire un nuovo vocabolario
che permetta ai giovani coreografi di sviluppare un linguaggio creativo
autonomo e originale”. (Ismael Ivo)
Il progetto, che vede riuniti Ismael Ivo, Jacopo Godani, Ted Stoffer,
Reinhild Hoffmann, Mi Na Yoo – coreografi diversi per età, formazione,
cultura – si propone di offrire in Italia un’opportunità di crescita e di
sperimentazione per coreografi esordienti attraverso un percorso di
ricerca e di confronto con coreografi di fama internazionale e con gli
altri operatori culturali e tecnici del 5. Festival Internazionale di Danza
Contemporanea, sviluppando in particolare il rapporto corpo/memoria
dallo spazio interno del movimento del corpo verso la percezione della sua
memoria.
“What is true choreographic technique? How can body language be
transformed into dance, bringing to life a work that can be defined as
‘new’? This project aims to stimulate choreographic thought and to create
a bridge between the most significant artistic ideas of our times:
from performance to visual art, from architecture to multimedia language.
How does the view of each idea react and respond to the complexity of
impulse? Choreography has to explore and acquire a new vocabulary that
allows young choreographers to develop an independent and original

The project sees Ismael Ivo, Jacopo Godani, Ted Stoffer, Reinihild
Hoffmann, Mi Na Yoo - different choreographers in terms of age, training
and culture – reunited with the aim to provide debutant choreographers
in Italy the opportunity to develop and experiment their talents through
a training projec designed to promote research and dialogue with
internationally renowned choreographers and the other cultural and
technical operators of the 5. International Festival of Contemporary
Dance, especially developing the body/memory relationship: from the
internal space of the body’s movement towards the perception of its
memory.
Ismael Ivo nato a San Paolo del Brasile, è stato membro dell’Alvin
Ailey Dance Center, prima di lavorare in Europa con Johann Kresnik,
Ushio Amagatsu, Koffi Kokko. Per più di 15 anni è stato direttore artistico
dell’International Tanzwochen Festival di Vienna, oltre che direttore del
settore danza e teatro del Deutsches Nationaltheater di Weimar. Coreografo
e danzatore noto in tutto il mondo, nel 2005 Ismael Ivo ha ricevuto al
Barbican di Londra il prestigioso Time Out Award “for the most outstanding
performance of the year” con The Maids. Dal 2005 è il Direttore del Festival
Internazionale di Danza Contemporanea della Biennale di Venezia.
Born in São Paulo in Brazil, Ismael Ivo was a member of the Alvin Ailey Dance
Center before working in Europe with Johann Kresnik, Ushio Amagatsu and
Koffi Kokko. For over 15 years he was artistic director of the International
Tanzwochen Festival in Vienna, as well as director of the dance and theatre
sector of the Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar. A world-renowned
choreographer and dancer, in 2005 he received the prestigious Time Out
Award at the London Barbican “for the most outstanding performance of the
year” with The Maids.
Lutz Gregor è regista di opere video e produttore indipendente.
Ha collaborato a progetti di film e a performance dal vivo con Tanzfabrik
Berlin, Tanztheater Rubato e con coreografi tra cui Rui Horta, Mark
Tompkins, Dieter Heitkamp, Ka Rustler, Jackie Taffanel, Gonnie Heggen.
Ha diretto numerosi film per Arte/ZDF Channel ed è artista associato nel
programma D.A.N.C.E con la direzione artistica di Fréderíc Flamand, Wayne
McGregor, Angelin Preljocaj e William Forsythe.
Lutz Gregor is an indipendent director and producer. He collaborated in video
projects and performances with Tanzfabrik Berlin, Tanztheater Rubato with
choreographers like Rui Horta, Mark Tompkins, Dieter Heitkamp, Ka Rustler,
Jackie Taffanel, Gonnie Heggen. He directed different films especially for
Arte/ZDF Channel and is associated artist in the D.A.N.C.E. program under
artistic direction of Fréderíc Flamand, Wayne McGregor, Angelin Preljocaj and
William Forsythe.
Jacopo Godani dopo gli studi al Mudra di Béjart e il suo
debutto come professionista in numerose compagnie internazionali, fonda
nel 1990 a Bruxelles la propria compagnia avviando una nuova carriera di
coreografo. Dal 1991 al 2000 è danzatore presso il Balletto di Francoforte di
Forsythe con cui collabora alla creazione di numerose coreografie. Da allora
molte sono le compagnie internazionali che gli commissionano creazioni:
Royal Danish Ballet, Ballets de Montecarlo, Nederlands Dans Theater, Royal
Ballet.
Jacopo Godani danced with Béjart’s Mudra and boasts a variety of
experiences as an interpreter in contemporary international companies.
In 1990 founded his own company in Brussels revealing his talent as a
choreographer. Between 1991 and 2000 he was an important dancer and
cocreator at Forsythe’s Ballett Frankfurt. After this period he was invited
by the major international companies as free-lance choreographer: Royal
Danish Ballet, Ballets de Montecarlo, Nederlands Dans Theater, Royal Ballet.
Ted Stoffer danzatore, coreografo e insegnante, giunge
alla danza contemporanea attraverso la ginnastica, il jazz e la danza
classica. Dal 1995 ha sviluppato un metodo di lavoro personale, fondendo
elementi di yoga, tai chi e improvvisazione.
Ha insegnato presso le compagnie Rosas, Ultima Vez, Charleroi Danses,
Michele Anne De Mey, Sasha Waltz and guests e all’ImpulsTanz di Vienna.
Nel 1997 fonda la Aphasia Dance Company. Ha danzato per Les Ballets C
de la B, Rambert Dance Company, Scapino Ballet di Rotterdam.
Ted Stoffer, dancer, choreographer and teacher, he came into contemporary
dance via gymnastics, jazz and classical ballet. Since 1995 he has
been developing his own work, mixing elements of yoga, tai chi and
improvisation. Since 2000, he has regularly taught for Rosas, Ultima Vez,
Charleroi Danses, Michele Anne De Mey, Sasha Waltz and guests, and
at ImpulsTanz Vienna. In 1997 he founded Aphasia Dance Company. He
danced for Les Ballets C de la B, Rambert Dance Company, Scapino Ballet
Rotterdam.
Reinhild Hoffmann danzatrice e coreografa tedesca
tra le più illustri esponenti della scena internazionale, appartiene
con Pina Bausch, Susanne Linke e Johann Kresnik alla generazione
dei pionieri del Tanztheater tedesco. Si è formata con Kurt Jooss alla
Folkwang Hochschule ad Essen, ha diretto il Tanztheater di Brema (19781986) e lo Schauspielhaus di Bochum (1986-1995).
Reinhild Hoffmann, German dancer and choreographer, is one of the
most illustrious exponents on the international dance scene, a pioneer
of the German Tanztheater together with Pina Bausch, Susanne Linke and
Johann Kresnik. She studied under Kurt Jooss at the Folkwang Hochschule
in Essen, was director of the Tanztheater in Brema (1978-1986) and
subsquently of the Schauspielhaus in Bochum (1986-1995).
Mi Na Yoo ha conseguito il Bachelor of Arts presso la School
of Dance della Kyunghee University e un MFA presso la School of Dance,
l’American Ballet Center, l’Alvin Ailey Dance School e la Martha Graham
School di New York. Ha insegnato presso la Martha Graham School, la
Iwanson School di Monaco e l’Università Nazionale Coreana delle Arti.
È tra i principali coreografi del Laboratory Dance Project, compagnia di
punta della scena coreana.
Mi Na Yoo received a Bachelor of Arts at the School of Dance, Kyunghee
University and a MFA at School of Dance, American Ballet Center, Alvin
Ailey Dance School and Martha Graham Dance School in New York. She
taught at Martha Graham Dance School, Iwanson School in Munich, and at
Korean National University of Arts. He is one of the main choreographers
at the Laboratory Dance Project, a leading company on the Korean dance
scene.
