La storia di SEM ha inizio nel 1972 quando due delle maggiori fabbriche di strumenti musicali di Castelfidardo, Elka e Orla, decidono di
creare una fabbrica di fisarmoniche completamente nuova.
Tra le persone coinvolte in questo progetto troviamo: Piero
Crucianelli, un diretto discendente di una delle famiglie fondatrici
dell’industria della fisarmonica italiana, Romolo Breccia, la cui
industria di voci ha già una reputazione mondiale e Nazzareno
Piermaria, un costruttore di fisarmoniche francese, la cui famiglia
è originaria di Castelfidardo.
I partners decidono che SEM sarebbe stata capace di emulare
il successo e la qualità delle originarie fabbriche di fisarmoniche
di Castelfidardo.
Nel 1973 la nuova fabbrica di fisarmoniche apre. Misura quasi
3000 mq ed è la più grande in Italia. SEM produce per Elka,
Hohner, Piermaria e molte altre, le quali si avvalgono tutte della
ricerca, lo sviluppo e le facilitazioni nella produzione che la nuova
compagnia ha da offrire. Per molti anni i prodotti SEM sono presentati a tutte le maggiori esposizioni e fiere mondiali.
Nel 2002 il marchio SEM è lanciato e presentato per la prima
volta. Poi, all’inizio del 2003, con una mossa strategica SEM si
fonde con un altro costruttore di fisarmoniche, Menghini, produttore dei marchi Scandalli e Paolo Soprani.
La fusione è un risultato naturale di collaborazioni precedenti tra
le due compagnie che evidenziavano già sfaccettature complementari in termini di produzione e prodotti.
L’aspirazione principale di SEM rimane quella di produrre strumenti musicali innovativi, di qualità e competitivi nel prezzo che
soddisfino le necessità e i desideri dei clienti.

In 1973 the new accordion factory opened. Measuring nearly 3000 sq.meters it was the
largest in Italy. SEM produced for Elka, Hohner, Piermaria and many others, all of whom
used the research, development and production facilities that the new company had to
offer. For many years, SEM products were presented at all the worlds’ major music
exhibitions and festivals.
In 2002 the SEM brand was launched and presented for
the first time.
Then, at the start of 2003, in a strategic move SEM
merged with another accordion manufacturer, Menghini,
producers of the Scandalli and Paolo Soprani brands.
The merger was a natural result of previous manufacturing
collaborations between the two companies which evidenced
that they had many complementary facets in terms of
production and products.

The SEM story began in 1972 when two of the most prominent musical instrument
factories in Castelfidardo, Elka and Orla, decided to create a brand new accordion factory.
The people involved in this decision included: Piero Crucianelli, a direct descendant of one
the founding families of the Italian accordion industry, Romolo Breccia, whose Salpa reed
factory already had a world wide reputation and Nazzareno Piermaria, a french accordion builder whose family were originally from Castelfidardo.
The partners decided that SEM had to be capable of emulating the success and quality
of the original accordion factories of Castelfidardo.
The continued aim of SEM remains that of producing
innovative, competitively priced, quality instruments that
satisfy customer needs and desires.
