WHAT IS GENDER BENDER
Gender Bender Festival presents to the public the contemporary and international imagery related to
gender identities, sexual orientations and body representations.
Since 2003 Gender Bender Festival has been a yearly international event focussing on gender
identity and sexual orientation issues as manifestations of a broader concept of human identity, and
as themes for reflection in order to interpret the changes undergone by contemporary society.
Gender Bender offers a series of events from performing arts to film screenings, live concerts,
visual arts exhibitions, conferences and parties.
During the last eight editions, Gender Bender has become a cultural event followed nationally by
press, audience and cultural promoters alike.
The 2010 edition was attended by 15.000 visitors over 8 days.
Gender Bender targets a very well selected audience averaging 30 years of age, curious and
interested in contemporary cultural events.
The festival takes place every year in Bologna, Italy, and it’s produced by Il Cassero, gay lesbian
center.
