These characteristics are crucial in
the longer lengths used when stalking
large oceanic fish, where a slim, compact
weapon with a slender “nose” is quick and
intuitive to aim. The ergonomic handle with
flexible inserts offers an excellent grip that
is easy to see from above, thanks to its highly
visible color. In the shorter sizes, Cyrano offers
maximum manageability and speed for hole fishing.
All Cyrano spearguns are provided standard with an
ample carrying bag.
The Cyrano 1100 and 970 models are equipped standard
with a 7 mm double-tip Tahitian shaft, other lengths are
provided with a standard shaft with a threaded head.

The cuttle-bone barrel and integrated shaft guide offer better accuracy. A specific design for every barrel length

The highly-sensitive stainless steel release mechanism is also suitable for use with strong double powerbands.

The footpocket is incredibly comfortable, technical, and effective
thanks to the design developed in collaboration with a leading
Italian podology clinic. Its shapes and the extra thickness on the
instep and the tensioners under the arch have been meticulously
researched to convey the maximum amount of energy produced
to the blade, yet still provide complete comfort. The foot pocket
is manufactured in a single material – one of the lightest –
thus eliminating any bonding problems between the different
materials and offering excellent mechanical properties.
The variable-thickness blade bends during the various phases
of finning action, achieving an ideal flexion curve, thanks in part
to the use of the best technopolymers, the true core of agility
and elasticity. The special design of the channels on the blade
and the lateral stringers on the foot pocket make it possible to
channel and increase the flow of water toward the pronounced
“V” at the tip, increasing thrust and preventing the fin from
slipping laterally.

For many years, the Spanish athlete has
been traveling the seven seas searching for
new amazing preys.
In 2007, during one of his trips to Mexico,
Joseba accomplished every spearfisher’s
dream: he captured a 467.2 lbs black Marlin,
new world’s record for this species.
Apart from World’s Victory title, he also
obtained many important triumphs such as
the Spanish medal in 2007, toghether with
other worldwide victories in Norway and
Austria.
Innate passion for sea and spearfishing
is the foundation of Joseba Kerejeta’s
life, important point of reference for the

acque di Isla de Margarita in Venezuela,
importante risultato raggiunto grazie a un
lungo percorso di crescita comune.
La grande esperienza e le doti atletiche di
Kerejeta, unite all’impegno di Mares nello
sviluppo della nuova linea Pure Instinct,
hanno permesso la nascita di attrezzature
altamente tecniche, un supporto vincente
per ogni utilizzatore.
L’atleta spagnolo da molti anni viaggia per
i mari di tutto il globo alla ricerca di prede
fantastiche.
Nel 2007, in uno dei suoi viaggi in Messico,
Joseba realizza il sogno di tutti i pescatori
subacquei, cattura un Marlin nero di 211,9
kg nuovo record del mondo certificato per
questa specie.
Oltre alla vittoria mondiale, nella sua lunga
carriera agonistica, sono presenti molti
importanti successi tra cui il titolo spagnolo
nel 2007 e svariate vittorie internazionali
ottenute anche in Norvegia e Australia.
Un’innata passione per il mare e la pesca

Gianluca Genoni
For over 10 years, Gianluca Genoni has been
actively dedicated to deep freediving: he set
12 world records in the different disciplines of
variable ballast.
On August 17, 1996 in Siracusa he set his first
world record in limited variable ballast at -106
mt. Gianluca became the undisputed king of this
discipline, besting his own records a good 10 times.
He set his latest world record in the waters of
Sharm El Sheikh on October 5, 2006 at -141m.
And not only limited variable ballast: Gianluca has
also set two records in absolute variable balance:
- 1998 -135m
- 1999 -138m
In his book “Emozioni... profonde” (“Deep...
emotions”),
he
recounts
his
sporting
achievements through an introspective look at
his life.
Since 2002, Gianluca has participated in scientific
medical studies related to freediving with the
University of Varese and the CNR (Italian National
Research Council):
Freediving below ice at extremely high altitudes
(3000m);
Dives at sea level in a pool, achieving an apnea of
15 minutes 10 seconds;
Dive at 5200m in Upper Pyramid Lake, at the foot
of Mount Everest. This deeply-felt passion has
propelled Gianluca into teaching. He has created
his own materials and helps spread the practice
of safe freediving with courses and internships
around the world.
On November 26th 2008 Gianluca Genoni put
himself though a scientific-medical test in
cooperation with DAN, obtaining the world’s
record in static apnea with oxygen of 18’03’’.
This record is the result of a set of medicalscientific tests related with the physiological
research of vital parameters after an extended
apnea. The reason why Genoni is going through
these tests is to help DAN Europe researchers to
identify some mechanisms from the human body
not yet known. For 13 years, Gianluca Genoni has been a Mares
Testimonial and an incredibly important figure for
consulting and testing in developing equipment
dedicated to freediving at the highest levels.

profonda:
12 primati mondiali nelle diverse discipline
dell’assetto variabile. Il 17 agosto 1996 a Siracusa
il suo primo record mondiale di apnea in assetto
variabile regolamentato a -106 mt. Gianluca
diviene il re incontrastato di questa disciplina
superandosi per ben 10 volte conquistando
l’ultimo record mondiale nelle acque di Sharm El
Sheikh, il 5 ottobre 2006 a -141 mt.
Non solo l’assetto variabile regolamentato, ma
anche due record in variabile assoluto:
- 1998 -135 mt
- 1999 -138 mt
Nel suo libro “Emozioni... profonde”, racconta
i suoi successi sportivi attraverso una lettura
introspettiva della sua vita.
Dal 2002 Gianluca sviluppa studi medico scientifici
legati all’apnea con l’Università di Varese e il CNR:
immersione in apnea sotto i ghiacci in altissima
quota (3000 mt); immersioni in ossigeno a quota 0
SLM in piscina raggiungendo un’apnea di 15’10’’;
immersione a 5200 mt nel Lago Superiore della
Piramide, ai piedi dell’Everest.
Questa profonda passione spinge Gianluca
nell’insegnamento, crea una sua didattica e
diffonde la pratica dell’apnea in sicurezza con
corsi e stage in tutto il mondo.
Il 26 novembre 2008 Gianluca Genoni si sottopone
ad un test medico scientifico in collaborazione
con il DAN ottenendo il record del mondo in
apnea statica con ossigeno con un tempo di
18’03’’. Questo record è maturato all’interno di
una serie di test medico scientifici inerenti lo
studio fisiologico dei parametri vitali successivi
all’apnea prolungata, a cui Genoni si sta
sottoponendo per aiutare i ricercatori del DAN
Europe a individuare alcuni meccanismi ancora
sconosciuti del corpo umano.
Gianluca Genoni da 13 anni è Testimonial Mares,
un’importantissima figura di consulenza e test
per lo sviluppo delle attrezzature Mares dedicate
all’apnea sempre al massimo livello.
