The Third Sunday of Advent is here. So, how have we done in preparing for the birth of Christ? Have you taken seriously the theme of preparation this season leading up to Christmas is all about? Let’s take a brief survey to see how we are doing. . . Have I been to Confession yet? Have I taken time to pray a little each day? Have I read a passage of two from the Bible? Have I gone to the Advent Stations? Have I corrected the “politically correct” who say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas? Have I shown greater care and love in what I do? CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE Thursday, December 24th Confessions ~ noon to 1:00 p.m. Mass at 4:00 p.m. (English) Friday, December 25th Midnight Mass (English & Italian) 8:00 a.m. Mass (English & Italian) 10:00 a.m. Mass (English) 11:30 a.m. Mass (Vietnamese) If you answered no to many of the above, then use the remaining days to make a good Advent. There is always time for the preparation. We want Christ to feel welcomed when He comes on Christmas day. So forget the last minute gift (unless it’s for me!) and give that time to Christ. Show Him that He is worth our time and energy. Congratulations to the newly installed members of the Parish Pastoral Council: Presentation of the Live Nativity Lucy Barnello Robert Celona Mark Medeiros Theresa Melionek Kim Pelosi Ryan Sherman Next Saturday, December 19th The members of our school’s Eighth Grade Class will present the Nativity at the 4:00 p.m. Mass. Sacred Heart Parish Family The following members will be installed soon: Jane Page Eaves Cyndi Forina Thom DePaulo Cristy Monge Signs of a Priestly Vocation How do I know God is calling me? These qualities may be clues to a priestly vocation: 1. God has given you a desire to be a priest. 2. You have a deep love for Christ and His Church. 3. Other people have mentioned that you would be a good priest. 4. You desire to live a life of virtue and prayer. 5. You want to help others grow closer to Christ. 3 303 Paris Street, East Boston, MA 02128 SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 6, 2015 SECONDA DOMENICA DELL’AVVENTO Those needing assistance for Holy Communion. Recognizing that it may be difficult for some to make their way down to aisle for Holy Communion, I would like to remind you that those who sit in the front pews on either side of the center aisle could remain there and Holy Communion will be brought to you. Also, those who sit in the first rows, again on either side of the center aisle at the mid-break in the Church, could remain there and Holy Communion will be brought to you. If you want to sit with family members anywhere else in the Church but cannot get out for Holy Communion, please speak with either Fr. Chris, Deacon A.J., or Fr. Wayne prior to Mass and Holy Communion will be taken to you wherever you are. Thank you. Each Wednesday during the Advent Season, Confession is available from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Also, Confessions are held every Saturday after the 8:00 a.m. Community Mass (during the Holy Hour) and again Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Before Christmas, please make a good confession. Perhaps that can be your gift to Jesus the season. ADVENT STATIONS OF THE CROSS Each Friday of Advent at 6:30 p.m. come and celebrate the Advent Way of the Cross. This beautiful devotion is a great way to enter into the Advent Season with a look forward to the Christmas celebration of the Birth of Christ. The Stations will be celebrated in the Church. We are most grateful to the Coro Dante for a beautiful pre-Christmas Concert last Sunday. The Italian Christmas Carols were wonderful and the musical rendition of the battle between John the Baptist and satan was spectacular. We were blessed with such quality voices and respectable Christmas wishes. A special thank you to Theresa Melionek for organizing the event and the refreshments from Tony DiCenso and others were delicious. Please remember to bring back your gift item from the Advent Giving Tree no later than Monday, December 21st. All gifts are to be unwrapped. Thank you for your Christmas love and generosity. ITALIAN CLASSES Italian Classes take place each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the rectory. Please join us for language lessons and some Italian Christmas Traditions. The new book for discussion is written by André Frossard: Forget Not Love: The Passion of Maximilian Kolbe Sacred Heart Parish Family 4 303 Paris Street, East Boston, MA 02128 SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 6, 2015 SALMO RESPONSORIALE RALLEGRATEVI: IL SIGNORE È VICINO Canta ed esulta, perché grande in mezzo a te è il Santo d'Israele. Egli vi battezzerà in Spirito Santo e fuoco. Rit. FINALE Noi cerchiamo te, O Signor Noi preghiamo te, O Signor Noi cantiamo a te, O Signor Tu ci ascolti, O Signor L’Angelus V. L’Angelo del Signore portò l’annunzio a Maria; R. Ed ella concepì per opera dello Spirito Santo. Ave Maria V. Eccomi, sono la serva del Signore. R. Si compia in me la tua parola. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
