SPONSOR SHOWCASE
11 Catholic grade schools in the communities of Medford, Malden, Everett, Somerville, Arlington, Cambridge, Chelsea, Revere, and East Boston will host an
informational school showcase for interested families
for the 2013-2014 school year. The showcase will be
on Thursday January 10, 2013 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM
in the cafeteria of St. Joseph School in Medford, 132
High Street. Families are invited to learn about
Catholic Education and speak to representatives from
the schools. The schools offer pre-kindergarten
classes to 8th grade and are accredited by New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Catholic
Schools are open to all families and faiths and enrollment begins in February for the following school

This weekend, we celebrate
the Feast of the Holy Family.
As you notice on the cover of
today’s bulletin, the wonder
ful image of the Holy Family
from our Manger Scene in
front of the Altar. The Holy
Family serves as a model for
each and every one of our
families. Yet, in a particularly
special way, it serves as a model for our parish family. We are called to be one in mind and heart. Our
parish family is a blessing from God and we must
each and every day pray for one another and do acts
of charity for one another in order to strengthen the
bonds of love that unite us. In this Christmas Season, remember Christmas is not but one day—it is a
season that lasts until the feast of the Lord’s Baptism.
Let us make an earnest effort to say at least once a
day the Our Father Prayer for the member of our
parish family who most needs it.
Merry Christmas to each and every one of you
and your loved ones.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
CONFESSION SCHEDULE

MASS
Today is Holy Family Sunday. We
can still identify ourselves with the
shepherds of Bethlehem who hastened to the grotto as soon as they
had received the Angel's announcement and found "Mary and Joseph, and the Babe
lying in the manger" (Lk 2: 16). Let us too pause to
contemplate this scene and reflect on its meaning.
The first witnesses of Christ's birth, the shepherds,
found themselves not only before the Infant Jesus
but also a small family: mother, father and newborn
son. God had chosen to reveal himself by being born
into a human family and the human family thus became an icon of God! God is the Trinity, he is a
communion of love; so is the family despite all the
differences that exist between the Mystery of God
and his human creature, an expression that reflects
the unfathomable Mystery of God as Love. In marriage the man and the woman, created in God's image, become "one flesh" (Gen 2: 24), that is a communion of love that generates new life. The human
family, in a certain sense, is an icon of the Trinity
because of its interpersonal love and the fruitfulness
of this love.
I pray that the Lord may bless all Christian families
and assist them in living their daily life in mutual love
and in generosity to others, after the example of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. May Almighty God continue
to bless you all with peace and joy during this Christmas Season! Best wishes to all!

Anna non andò, perché disse al marito: «Non verrò,
finché il bambino non sia svezzato e io possa condurlo a vedere il volto del Signore; poi resterà là per
sempre». Dopo averlo svezzato, lo portò con sé, con
un giovenco di tre anni, un'efa di farina e un otre di
vino, e lo introdusse nel tempio del Signore a Silo:
era ancora un fanciullo. Immolato il giovenco, presentarono il fanciullo a Eli e lei disse: «Perdona, mio
signore. Per la tua vita, mio signore, io sono quella
donna che era stata qui presso di te a pregare il Signore. Per questo fanciullo ho pregato e il Signore
mi ha concesso la grazia che gli ho richiesto. Anch'io
lascio che il Signore lo richieda: per tutti i giorni
della sua vita egli è richiesto per il Signore». E si
prostrarono là davanti al Signore.
SECONDO DELLE SCRITTURE
FAMIGLIA PICCOLA CHIESA
La Chiesa e il mondo contemporaneo s’interrogano,
oggi più che mai, circa il disegno di Dio sulla famiglia.
Mentre da una parte emergono alcuni grandi valori
che manifestano la presenza di Dio, come la crescita
della libertà e della responsabilità nella paternità e
nell’educazione, la legittima aspirazione della donna
all’eguaglianza di diritti e di doveri con l’uomo, l’apertura al dialogo verso tutta la grande famiglia umana, la
stima delle relazioni autenticamente personali...,
dall’altra si constatano crescenti difficoltà, come la
degradazione della sessualità, la visione materialistica
ed edonistica della vita, l’atteggiamento permissivo
dei genitori, l’indebolirsi dei vincoli familiari e della
comunicazione tra generazioni.

Dalla prima lettera di san Giovanni apostolo
Carissimi, vedete quale grande amore ci ha dato il
Padre per essere chiamati figli di Dio, e lo siamo
realmente! Per questo il mondo non ci conosce: perché non ha conosciuto lui.
Carissimi, noi fin d'ora siamo figli di Dio, ma ciò che
saremo non è stato ancora rivelato. Sappiamo però
che quando egli si sarà manifestato, noi saremo
simili a lui, perché lo vedremo così come egli è.
Carissimi, se il nostro cuore non ci rimprovera nulla,
abbiamo fiducia in Dio, e qualunque cosa
chiediamo, la riceviamo da lui, perché osserviamo i
suoi comandamenti e

nel seno della Vergine Maria e si é fatto uomo. Fu
crocifisso per noi sotto Ponzio Pilato, morì e fu
sepolto. Il terzo giorno é risuscitato, secondo le
Scritture; é salito al cielo, siede alla destra del Padre.
E di nuovo verrà, nella gloria, per giudicare i vivi e i
morti, e il suo regno non avrà fine.
Credo nello Spirito Santo, che é Signore e dà la vita,
e procede dal Padre e dal Figlio e con il Padre e il
Figlio é adorato e glorificato e ha parlato per mezzo
dei profeti. Credo la Chiesa, una, santa, cattolica e
apostolica.
Professo un solo battesimo per il perdono dei
peccati. Aspetto la risurrezione dei morti e la vita
del mondo che verrà.

I genitori di Gesù si recavano ogni anno a Gerusalemme per la festa di Pasqua. Quando egli ebbe
dodici anni, vi salirono secondo la consuetudine
della festa. Ma, trascorsi i giorni, mentre
riprendevano la via del ritorno, il fanciullo Gesù rimase a Gerusalemme, senza che i genitori se ne accorgessero. Credendo che egli fosse nella comitiva,
fecero una giornata di viaggio, e poi si misero a cercarlo tra i parenti e i conoscenti; non avendolo
trovato, tornarono in cerca di lui a Gerusalemme.
Dopo tre giorni lo trovarono nel tempio, seduto in
mezzo ai maestri, mentre li ascoltava e li interrogava.
E tutti quelli che l'udivano erano pieni di stupore per
la sua intelligenza e le sue risposte.
Al vederlo restarono stupiti, e sua madre gli disse:
«Figlio, perché ci hai fatto questo? Ecco, tuo padre e
io, angosciati, ti cercavamo». Ed egli rispose loro:
«Perché mi cercavate? Non sapevate che io devo
occuparmi delle cose del Padre mio?». Ma essi non
compresero ciò che aveva detto loro.
Scese dunque con loro e venne a Nazaret e stava
loro sottomesso. Sua madre custodiva tutte queste
cose nel suo cuore. E Gesù cresceva in sapienza, età
e grazia davanti a Dio e agli uomini.
Scendi dal ciel, mistico Re, dal silenzio di
mister. Santa notte sorride d’amor c’è chi
veglia con ansia d’amor Tra Giuseppe e
Maria dorme il Bambino Gesù.
Communione
Il Natale del Signor torna ancora tra noi per
ridarci la vita, la gioia, l’amor. Gesu’ nasce
ancor per rinascere in noi, per condurre piu’
in alto chi crede in lui.
