He also developed in-deep knowledge in many aspects of gynaecological endocrinology, such as pathophysiology of reproduction, contraception and, in a certain extent, infertility. Since his clinical fellowship at Unit of Minimally Invasive Therapy & Endoscopy Training Centre at Royal Free Hospital in London Dr. Di Spiezio Sardo’s main interest has become Endoscopy. He is currently the Chief of the Hysteroscopy Unit at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Naples “Federico II”, where he has performed more than 10000 operative hysteroscopies, mostly in outpatient setting, applying the newest technical and methodological approaches. The high level of his surgical skills is testified by many national and international meetings where he has been personally invited to perform live hysteroscopic surgery. Research experience: Dr. Di Spiezio Sardo’s field of interest is the research in gynaecological endocrinology and endoscopic techniques. At the very beginning of his scientific career, paralleling his clinical interests on postmenopausal issues, he participated to ongoing researches focused on the endocrinology of the menopause and bone metabolism, also ideating an original line of research on the effects of menopause on different organs of sense. Since 2003, his scientific interests have been focusing mainly on the development and implementation of new hysteroscopic techniques. The high quality level of both research and clinical projects developed by his team is testified by his intensive scientific production as well as the many national and international meetings where he is personally invited as a speaker. Teaching experience: Dr Di Spiezio Sardo has and continues to contribute extensively in teaching endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is currently in charge with the training and professional development in gynaecological endoscopy at University “Federico II” of Naples So far he has taught well over 80 national and international endoscopy courses and seminars and he himself has actively organized several symposia and practical courses in his department and in other institutions. He has been member of the Teaching Faculty at Unit of Minimally Invasive Therapy & Endoscopy Training Centre while at the Royal Free Hospital, London. He has been nominated Professor of Instituto Europeo de Tecnologia y Ciencias Endoscopicas (I.E.C.E.) for teaching endoscopic techniques in South America Scientific experience: Dr Di Spiezio Sardo has authored more than 90 articles (including original investigations, case reports, reviews and editorials) published in international peer-review journals (overall impact factor 226.484 calculated according to “Key figures from the journal rankings”.
