Background
Trained in Contamporary Dance in Italy, France, Holland and the United States, in particular
with the dancers of Trisha Brown Dance Company in New York, by W. Forsythe, Emio Greco,
Julyen Hamilton, Martin Sonderkamp, Steve Paxton, W. Vandekeybus / Ultima Vez and
Andonis Foniadakis to name a few.
She has collaborated with choreographers such as Hisako Horikawa, Katie Duck, Weijke
Koopmans, Virgilio Sieni, Gabriella Maiorino and with composers such as Yuval Avital, Mario
Pagliarani (Composer and Director of Teatro del Tempo), Claudio Jacomucci (musician and
composer), Tristan Honsinger (musician and composer), Giorgio Correggiari (designer), Sonia
Biacchi Centro di Ricerca Teatrale di Venezia; etc.
In 2010 she founded her own company - Kathleen Delaney Dance Company - in which is
predominant in the blend composition of dancing and music. Among the musicians who
collaborate with the company stand out: Claudio Jacomucci, accordionist and composer of
international importance; Francesco Dillon (awarded with the Silver Lion at the Venice
Biennale in 2012), Daniele Roccato (double bass player and professor of the Academy of Santa
Cecilia); Simone Spinaci and the Choir of Urbania, Italy.
Kathleen Delaney has been dancing, teaching and lecturing in Italy, Switzerland, France,
Holland, Belgium, UK, Germany, Finland, Poland, Denmark, Lithuania, and Russia for festival
and institutions such as:

With "Cool Memories, homage to Jean Baudrillard" was among the finalists at the Palio Ermo
Colle di Parma in 2009 and Performance Art Award Present / Future at Teatro Libero, Palermo
in 2013.
Since 2012 she organizes “Il Fiore delle Mille e Una Nota”, contemporary music and dance
festival in Amsterdam and in Urbino.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE TEACHER
In 2009 she graduated as a teacher of the Alexander Technique at ATCA, Amsterdam. She
developed an interest in Anatomy and Physiology of Movement following the Masterclasses of
the Outreach program of Dimon Institute in New York. In the same year is invited by IADMS
International Association for Dance Medicine and Sciences (New York) to present a poster
titled: ‘The Alexander Technique in relation to dancers'pain and injuries’ to the World
Conference held in The Hague, Netherlands. She is also invited to give masterclasses at the
Academy of Music and Theatre in Herentals, Belgium. She teaches regularly at Dansdrift, Den
Haag, the Netherlands.
In March 2010, she is invited to give a lecture entitled: ‘Rhytmical Structures and Expressive
Performance’ at Middlesex University in London for students in the Master of Music and
Choreography. The same year, in November, she is invited to give a Masterclass at the
National Academy of Dance in Vilnius, Lithuania.
In 2010-2011 she teaches Physiology / Techniques of Awareness and Expression Codd / 07 at
the Conservatory of Music "Nino Rota" of Monopoli.
In 2012-2013 she teaches Physiology / Techniques of Awareness and Expression Codd / 07 at
the Conservatory "V. Bellini "of Catania and is invited to give a Masterclass at the
Conservatory L. D'Annunzio in Pescara, counting a special participation of 90 students.
In 2013-2014 she teaches Physiology / Techniques of Awareness and Expression Codd / 07 at
the Conservatory "V. Bellini "of Catania and at the Conservatory of Bolzano Claudio
Monteverdi.
In 2013, together with the public Claudio M. Jacomucci the book "Mastering Accordion
Technique" on taking care of the anatomy and physiology of the movement.
In 2014 she is invited to give a masterclasses at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and at the
Royal Academy in Copenhagen together with Claudio Jacomucci and
again at the
Conservatory of Pescara. th
In 2014-2015 She is Expressive Movement Professor and Alexander Technique Teacher at the
Conservatory of Music in Bologna, Italy.
LECTURES, PUBLICATIONS & OTHER
In 2006 she is invited to give a lecture entitled: “A semiotic approach to performance analysis”
at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia for the Conference "The Performance of the
Arts" at the Dep. Sciences of Communication.
In 2008, she was invited by Prof. Pajoni the International Center for Semiotic and Linguistic
Studies of Urbino to organize a meeting of Semiotics of Dance. The title of the conference
series was: "The sense of dance. Dance research and transmedia practeces", followed by a
publication of the proceedings of the conference and a publication of the same acts for the
magazine Dégres, revue de synthese a orientation semiologique, Brussels, Belgium.
In 2008, she is invited twice to teach as a guest teacher at the Department of Choreography,
University of Amsterdam, where she gave a lecture titled: “Dynamic of the Spirit, a semiotic
approach to choreography” and also she teaches in the Laboratory of video dance, dealing
with text/image interaction. In August of the same year she is invited to teach at the
International Festival The Art of Movement in Yaroslavl, Russia. Again in August 2008, she is
invited to give a lecture at the IIAS, International Association for Cybernetics and System
Research in Baden Baden, where she will present "The Role of the Observer in the Arts and
Sciences" by E. Vaccari, K. Delaney. The article was also published in the Proceedings of the
Symposium.
In March 2010, she is invited to give a lecture entitled: ‘Rhytmical Structures and Expressive

Beyond. She has labs in Sound-Space interaction with Chris Ziegler (ZKM, Germany) and
multimedia performance with Johannes Birringer (DAP-Lab, Professor of Performance
Technologies at Brunel University, UK).
