Humbug by Tina Barrett Sizes: Size: 3-4(5-6,7- 8,9-10, 11-12) years Finished Chest: 30(32,34,36,40)in 76(81,86,91,102)cm Length: 15(16.5,18,19.5,21) in 38(42,46,50,53)cm Armhole depth: 6(6.5,7,7.5,8) in 15(17,18,19,20)cm Back: Using 3.25mm needles and purple, cast on 82(88,94,100,110)sts, Change to grey and work 4 rows in stocking stitch, Work k2/p2 rib for 8(8,10,10,12) rows. Change to 4mm needles and stocking stitch and work 8 rows in stocking stitch. Materials: Artesano Merino DK Superwash Purple 3(3,4,4,5) x 50g Lime Green 1(1,1,1,1) x 50g Grey 3(4,5,6,7) x 50g balls Pair each of 3.25mm and 4mm needles or size to obtain tension. Stitch holders Begin stripe patt as folls; Knit 2 rows of green. Stocking stitch 10 rows grey. Knit 2 rows of purple. Stocking stitch 10 rows of grey. Tension: 22sts x 30rows 4 ins (10cms) If necessary change needles to get tension. Stitches: Stocking st Knit on RS rows and purl on WS rows. Rib K2,p2 on right side rows. K2,p2 on wrong side rows. Moss st K1,p1 on the right side. P1,k1 on the wrong side. Abbreviations RS – Right side. WS – Wrong side. K – Knit P – Purl. Stocking stitch: Knit on RS rows and purl on WS rows. Shape Neck and Shoulders: Cast off 5sts at the beg of the next 2 rows 56(62,68,74,84) sts K16(18,20,22,26)sts, turn and work on these stitches only P 1 row Cast off 8(9,10,11,13) sts, k to end Cast off rem 8(9,10,11,13)sts Slip centre 24(26,28,30,32) sts onto a holder, rejoin yarn and knit across rem 16(18,20,22,26)sts Shape second side to match first, reversing all shapings. Fold the work with RS facing and cast stitches off together. Finishing: Use a small neat backstitch on edge of work for all seams. Darn in loose yarn ends. Sew right shoulder Collar: With 3.25mm needles and grey, pick up and k13(13,15,15,17)sts down left front neck, knit across the 16(18,20,22,24)sts from front holder, pick up and k 13(13,15,15,17)sts up right front neck, 3sts from back shoulder, 24(26,28,30,32)sts across the stitches on the back holder, then 3 sts from back left shoulder. 72(76,84,88,96)sts Work in k2, p2 rib for for 5(5,7,7,7) rows. Cast off loosely in purple. Sew Left shoulder and collar seam. Sleeve Bands: With RS facing and 3.25mm needles, pick up and k 92(96,104,112,120)sts Work in k2,p2 rib for 5(5,7,7,7) rows. Cast off in grey Hood: Pin hood to inside of collar and slip stitch to inside edge at base of rib with loose slip stitches.
