Parco Nazionale di Zion - PC+P
Ore 8: il capogruppo vi incontrerà in albergo per una
riunione introduttiva. Spostamento fino al vicino
Parco Nazionale di Zion con arrivo intorno a
mezzogiorno. L'albergo si trova in posizione centrale
nella storica Springdale, con bei negozi e ristoranti.
Nel pomeriggio visita di Zion in tram e giro nel
famoso canyon. Brevi passeggiate ci porteranno a
diversi punti d'interesse, come The Narrows,
Weeping Rock. Hotel Majestic View Lodge o Best
Western Zion Park Inn, o simili, 3 stelle, 1 notte.

4° giorno Toroweap / Parco Nazionale del Grand

In un paio d'ore di guida per una strada sterrata
meno trafficata raggiungeremo il North Rim del
Grand Canyon. Qui apparirà ai vostri occhi uno dei
più grandiosi panorami al mondo: la vista del Grand
Canyon dal Toroweap. Guarderemo l'abisso del
gigantesco canyon. Sono pochi i turisti che riescono
ad arrivare fino a qui, intimoriti dal percorso piuttosto
accidentato che conduce in questo luogo. Potremo
fare delle passeggiate lungo il bordo del canyon.
Ritorno a Kanab a fine pomeriggio. La ricompensa
per quest'avventura polverosa è un bagno in piscina
(aperta solo d'estate).

La mattina avrete tempo di visitare la cittadina di
Springdale. Se siete interessati, il capogruppo vi
organizzerà un'escursione di 2-3 ore a Emerald
Pools oppure a Angel’s Landing, una fantastica vetta
montana che domina la vallata. Nel tardo pomeriggio
raggiungeremo in un paio d'ore il paese mormone di
Kanab. Passeremo la notte in un comodo lodge dove
hanno alloggiato stelle del cinema, il Parry Lodge o
simili, 2-3 stelle, 2 notti.

Da molti il Bryce Canyon è considerato il più bello dei
parchi americani. Sentieri da passeggiata si snodano
attraverso colonne di roccia di un intenso rosso e
rosa, un bel contrasto con l'azzurro del cielo e il
verde dei pini. Visita al bellissimo Visitor’s Center. Chi
lo desidera potrà fare un giro a cavallo tra le
formazioni rocciose (facoltativo, circa $40), mentre gli
altri potranno seguire la guida a piedi tra le
formazioni. Lasciatevi poi incantare da uno

splendido tramonto tutt'intorno all'Anfiteatro, dove si

destinazione Page, vicino al Lake Powell, dove
alloggeremo in un albergo in posizione centrale,

Parco Nazionale del Bryce Canyon

Highway 12 fino a Moab, PC+P
La Highway 12 è una delle strade più belle degli Stati
Uniti. Attraversando dune di sabbia pietrificata
passeremo per strade strette e canyon scoscesi, con
viste fantastiche di gran parte dello Utah meridionale.
In questa regione selvaggia e arida visiteremo il
Parco Nazionale di Capitol Reef, dove troveremo i
pittogrammi degli antichi Indiani. Potremo poi
fotografare le “Badlands” nere vicino a Hanksville,
prima di arrivare a Moab nel tardo pomeriggio. Ci
godremo la luce pomeridiana nel Parco Nazionale di
Canyonlands dopo una breve camminata verso
luoghi famosi, come il Mesa Arch. Moab Valley Inn o
simili, 3 stelle, 2 notti.

Antelope Canyon e Grand Canyon

Il Lake Powell è stato creato costruendo una diga sul
Colorado River. Pareti di arenaria rossa si riflettono
nell'acqua blu, con uno spettacolo indimenticabile. La
mattina consigliamo escursione in jeep fino
all'Antelope o Corkscrew Canyon o al classico “Slot
Canyon” (facoltativo, a partire da $30), oppure gita in
barca al vicino Antelope Canyon (a partire da $35).
Tempo permettendo, potremo fare una passeggiata
a Horsehoe Bend, uno stupendo punto panoramico
sopra il Colorado River. In 3 ore di guida circa
raggiungeremo poi la prossima meta: il Grand
Canyon, riconosciuto dall'UNESCO Patrimonio
dell'Umanità. Al tramonto potremo fare una
passeggiata lungo il Canyon’s Rim. Red Feather

Passeremo tutta la giornata nel Grand Canyon.
Consigliamo una passeggiata lungo il remoto West
Rim per un panorama in continuo cambiamento del
canyon, oppure potrete immergervi nel canyon e
raggiungere il famoso Plateau Point. Rimarrà tempo
per un giro in elicottero (facoltativo, a partire da
$180).

Ci attende la parte più suggestiva della Highway 1: la
strada lungo i dirupi scoscesi è così stretta che i
pullman turistici grandi non possono percorrere
questo tratto di costiera. (Negli anni molto piovosi le
frane possono interrompere la strada.) Potremo
godere viste magnifiche dei dirupi sotto di noi. Ci sarà
tempo per fermarsi a visitare i piccoli parchi lungo il
percorso. Arriveremo presto a Montery. Il gruppo
potrà scegliere se fare un'escursione al Point Lobos
State Reserve per vedere i leoni marini e le piante
endemiche o visitare il famoso Acquario (circa $15).
Nel tardo pomeriggio raggiungeremo San Francisco.

Avremo davanti una lunga giornata di viaggio, per

Prenderemo la Route 66 fermandoci a fare delle belle
fotografie. A fine pomeriggio raggiungeremo l'albergo
in posizione centrale, Wilshire Plaza o Biltmore, Best
Western Dragon Gate Inn Chinatown o simili, 3
stelle, 2 notti.

Il nostro viaggio si conclude a San Francisco. Vi
consigliamo di passare qualche giorno in questa
magnifica città. Partenza per conto proprio.

Visiteremo il centro della città e Hollywood. Come
prima cosa ci dirigeremo al Walt Disney Music Hall,
famosa opera architettonica. Dalla cima della
struttura si ha l'opportunità di scattare foto incredibili.
A Hollywood percorreremo la Walk of Fame
passando vicino al Chinese Theatre. Chi lo desidera
potrà passare il pomeriggio a Universal Studios (circa
$70 a testa) e tornare in albergo in metropolitana,
oppure trascorrere il pomeriggio a piacere.
13° giorno
Highway 1, PC+P
Ci dirigeremo verso la costa passando per Beverly
Hills. Faremo una breve sosta per ammirare il
quartiere commerciale degli ultra ricchi prima di
raggiungere la costa e la Highway 1 a Malibu. Da qui
ci dirigeremo verso nord per giungere a Santa
Barbara. Avremo tempo di passeggiare per le strade
e fare un picnic sulla famosa spiaggia. Continueremo
verso nord attraversando terreni coltivati e lambendo
vigneti fino al nostro albergo a San Simeon. L'albergo
si trova di fronte alla spiaggia, Silver Surf Motel 2-3

Temperature:
The weather in this region is extremely stable, particularly in spring, summer and fall. Sunshine prevails. Coupled with
very low humidity it makes this region ideal for being outdoors and hiking. In summer (June to mid-September)
temperatures during daytime are very pleasant in Yosemite, Bryce and Grand Canyon (75° - 80°F) due to the altitude of
their mountain locales (3000 - 7500 ft) as well as along the coast of California. In summer, in Utah’s parks, the daytime
temperatures of 75° - 95°F are typical. In August there is often a daily short, heavy rainstorm, which can cool the air quite
nicely. In spring and fall (April to mid-June, mid-September through October) average temperatures drop about 20°.

These are the best seasons for hiking in the deserts of Utah, while in the mountain regions of Yosemite and even in
Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyon chillier days are encountered, particularly when the occasional storm passes through.
The month of May offers outstanding wildflowers, while the soft light of early Fall (mid- to end-September) is favored by
many photography enthusiasts.
Meeting Place:
Please be at the appointed hotel no later than 8 A.M. for the orientation meeting on the first day of the tour.
Please bring a copy of your travel insurance to this meeting. Be aware that all participants must sign a Liability
Waiver. In case your flight has been delayed and you are unable to make it to the Orientation Meeting, it is
essential that you contact us immediately at our toll-free number: 1-888-233-1297. Our office is not staffed on the
weekends, but the toll-free number will get you our current weekend emergency number. At the emergency
number please leave details of your revised travel plans and the telephone number, at which we can reach you to
coordinate an alternative meeting with the tour. In the event that you are delayed more than a few hours the
group can unfortunately not wait. If you neither appear at the orientation meeting nor contact us, we will be
forced to conclude that you have canceled your plan to be with the tour.

You should dress in layers, so that it is easy to add and remove clothing when temperature changes. It can be very chilly
in the morning, but the warm-up is rapid.
If you are doing slide photography, bring all your film supplies with you. It is namely almost impossible in the U.S. to find
slide film outside of big cities. There will also be little or no access to currency exchange, so convert all the cash you need
for the tour to US $ before you join us. We recommend a combination of cash, travelers checks (American Express or
Thomas Cook) and, most preferably, VISA or Mastercard. You will have access to ATM cash machines, so bring your
credit card(s) along together with your PIN Nummer, but note that American cash machines usually will not accept
Eurocard. Otherwise, credit cards are accepted everywhere in the U.S. Small fees are sometimes charged for using them.
Diners Club and American Express are not accepted as universally as Visa or Mastercard.
Baggage Limit: Due to limited space on the tour vans each traveler can bring only two items of luggage on the tour.
During the tour there are washing machines and dryers, where you can do your laundry for a small charge.
Additional Expenses: Each traveler will need app. $5-10/day for postcards, beverages, tips, etc. Be prepared to tip the
tour leader between $42 and $70 per participant, depending on his/her performance. In the U.S. it is the norm to tip for
most every kind of service.
Food: The U.S. generally has a large selection of freshly prepared foods and fresh vegetables. In the country, however,
the variety is more limited. Breakfast is sometimes included with the hotel lodging, other times it must be acquired in a
restaurant. In either case breakfast is included in our tour price. Hotel "continental breakfasts" are usually very basic:
coffee, tea, toast, jam, cereal, though they sometimes include waffles, fruit, muesli and yogurt. Lunch provisions are
provided by your tour leader. You fix your own lunch in advance, so that it can be eaten on the day's outing. Bread,
sausage, cheese, fruit and snacks are provided for this purpose. Beverages are not included. Dinner is taken in the hotel
or in nearby restaurants. Your tour leader will make restaurant recommendations. Dinners typically cost $20-35 per
person, sometimes less, excluding the cost of beverages. A glass of wine costs $5-15 depending on the quality, and beer
runs $3-5/glass.

Booking/ Cancellations
BOOKING
Please use our booking form found on our web site to book your passengers. Indicate if your passenger wants a single
room, a double, or is a single wanting to share. We may or may not have singles sharing. In the case of a single wanting
to share being in a single room, some tours offer a reduced single supplement. We will confirm the booking within 1 day
(longer over the weekend), issuing a booking number. Current booking conditions can be found on our extra net at
www.atwtourinfo.com. Wholesalers can request log in and password information for our extranet site. Bookings are
updated daily at noon.
Tours are either “open” - we accept bookings, “guaranteed” - we have enough bookings to operate the tours, “on request”
- a tour is almost full, “full” - a tour is sold out, or “cancelled”. However what you find on our web site may be outdated if
we receive a lot of requests. Bookings are accepted as received and confirmations must be sent by our office before you
can confirm the booking with your client.
LANGUAGES
Certain tours have language selections pre-set. For other tours the language is determined 2-4 months out depending on
which languages have booked. Once ATW assigns a guide, it is difficult to change the language selection, even if more
people of a certain language book. Short term language changes are very difficult for us to accommodate. Before
promising a certain language to one of your clients we recommend you ask us which tour your client is booked on and
which languages will be offered.
FIT EXTENSION RATES
FIT extension rates are pre-negotiated but if a client reserves their extension with less than 90 day notice we may not be
able to guarantee the rates due to the heavy convention schedule in Las Vegas and San Francisco. In either case
extension rates are not guaranteed until confirmed and accepted by the hotel.
CONFIRMATION OF TOURS
We will confirm the departure of a tour no later than 45 days prior to departure. At that point we will require a nonrefundable deposit of $400 per passenger.
Full payment is due 30 days prior to departure. Once payment is received we will issue a voucher that has to be
presented to our tour director at the start of the tour.
CANCELLATIONS
There will be no refunds for cancellations under 30 days, there will be no refunds for “no shows” or interrupted travel. We
accept name substitution up to 15 days prior to arrival without a fee. Starting 15 days before arrival name changes are
considered cancellations. If you pay with credit card you should add 3% to the above prices to cover any extra costs.
Once full payment is received a voucher will be issued by our office.
DISRUPTIVE PASSENGERS
We reserve the right to remove a passenger from tour if he/she is not fit enough to keep up, a disturbance to the group,
disruptive or sick. We will try to make any possible arrangement to keep passengers from having to leave the group but if
a group member cannot keep up with the schedule they may be asked to stay behind in the hotel.

LATE BOOKINGS
We can accept late bookings up to 1 week prior to arrival. However with late bookings we do require that we receive full
payment before arrival of the client.
HOTEL SUBSTITUTIONS
ATW reserves the right to change hotels when needed. Hotel substitutions are generally of equal or higher value,
however in some instances a lower class hotel is selected if no better alternative is available.
COMPLAINTS
All complaints must be brought to the guide’s attention during the tour. ATW must be given the opportunity to remedy the
situation before any recourse is possible. The complaint therefore should be made in writing to the guide.
