segna “Asti fa Goal” con tutte le eccellenze enogastronomiche del territorio. Ogni sera musica e
spettacoli.
Protagonista di questa grande kermesse sarà il
Barbera d’Asti docg: sulle colline del Monferrato
l’uva da sempre più coltivata è la Barbera e da
questo vino rosso dipende l’economia di una delle
aree più importanti del Piemonte vitivinicolo.
Uno dei momenti più attesi è senz’altro il Festival delle Sagre che andrà in scena domenica 13
settembre in piazza Campo del Palio. Si inizia con
la suggestiva sfilata con oltre 3.000 figuranti: giovani, vecchi e bambini, con gli attrezzi e gli animali della campagna, faranno rivivere un tempo
che sembra perduto per sempre. La festa è un tripudio di odori e sapori: le Pro Loco astigiane sono
pronte a servire a 300 mila turisti agnolotti, salamini, bagnacauda.
A settembre la Festa è ad Asti.

Dici Asti e dici vino ma anche tradizioni millenarie della campagna attorno alla città di San Secondo. A settembre la Camera di Commercio
mette in mostra il meglio dell’enogastronomia locale, il frutto di saperi antichi.
Questo appuntamento è preceduto dal Concorso
Enologico Nazionale “Premio Douja d’Or”: i 506
vini italiani premiati, tra cui i 40 Oscar della Douja
d’Or 2009 saranno in degustazione al Salone nazionale a Palazzo del Collegio, accompagnati ogni
giorno da “piatti d’autore” cucinati dai migliori
chef astigiani e dalle specialità gastronomiche
proposte dalle associazioni di categoria. Ma sono
molte le location dove trovare il meglio della produzione enologica e non solo: a Palazzo Ottolenghi ci sarà la Douja della Barbera e la Rassegna
dell’Alta Langa, a Palazzo Alfieri si terrà la Douja
dell’Asti, lo spumante aromatico più conosciuto
nel mondo. Palazzo dell’Enofila è sede della ras-

Asti, the city of San Secondo,
means wine but even its thousands year old traditions. Every
year in September the local
Chamber of Commerce displays
wines and traditional food at its
best. First, the National Wine
Challenge “Premio Douja d’Or”
will award 506 Italian wines,
and the best 40 of them will be
declared “Oscar della Douja
2009”. All these wines will be
on tasting at the Salone
Nazionale in Palazzo del Collegio, accompanied by “the author’s recipes” daily cooked by
the best chefs of Asti province
together with trade and producer associations.
The best wines and food can be
also tasted at Palazzo Ottolenghi (La Douja della Barbera and the Alta Langa Show),
at Palazzo Alfieri (la Douja dell’Asti, the most famous aromatic spumante in the world).

place Asti fa Goal , where all
the best food specialities will be
displayed for tasting. Every
night people will also enjoy
music and shows.

“Wein”. Im September zeigt die
Handelskammer das Beste, was
die lokale, aus antiker Tradition
hervorgegangene Önogastronomie zu bieten hat.
Voran geht dieser Veranstaltung
der Nationale Weinwettbewerb
“Premio Douja d’Or”: die dabei
506 prämierten italienischen
Weine, darunter die 40 Oscar der
Douja d’Or 2009 können im “Salone nazionale” im Palazzo del
Collegio verkostet werden, jeden
Tag von „Autoren-Gerichten” begleitet, außerdem bieten die
Fachverbände gastronomische
Spezialitäten. Auch an anderen
Stellen kann man finden, was
Wein- und andere Produktionen
an Köstlichkeiten zu bieten
haben: im Palazzo Ottolenghi auf
der Douja della Barbera und der
Rasegna dell’Alta Langa, im Palazzo Alfieri auf der Douja
dell’Asti, mit dem weltweit bekannten aromatischen Spumante. Palazzo dell’Enofila ist
Veranstaltungsort von “Asti fa
Goal” (Tor für Asti), mit allen
önogastronomischen Besonderheiten der Gegend. Dazu jeden
Abend Musik und Vorführungen.
Hauptfigur dieser Schau ist der
Barbera d’Asti docg: Auf den Hügeln des Monferrato ist Barbera
seit jeher die am meisten angebaute Traube und von diesem
Rotwein hängt die Wirtschaft
einer der bedeutendsten Weingegenden des Piemont ab.
Das Festival delle Sagre, das am
13. September auf der Piazza
Campo del Palio stattfindet, gehört sicher zu den am meisten
erwarteten Momente. Es beginnt
mit einem malerischen Umzug
mit mehr als 3.000 Teilnehmern:
Jugendliche, alte Menschen und
auch Kinder, lassen mit Werkzeugen und Tieren eine Zeit wieder auferstehen, die ganz
verloren gegangen zu sein
schien. Ein Freudenfest der Düfte
und Geschmäcker: die Fremdenverkehrsvereine von Asti werden
300.000 Touristen Agnolotti, Salamini, und Bagnacauda bieten.
Im September wird in Asti gefeiert.

Il mare dei bambini che piace a tutti
scorrere una vacanza serena.
Celle Ligure, Città dei Bambini UNICEF dal 1995,
in estate propone tre mesi di iniziative pensate
per chi ha più di 4 anni e meno di 14: il calendario degli spettacoli, animazioni e laboratori di Navicelle è sempre molto coinvolgente, così come La
Corte delle Nuvole, rassegna di Teatro per bambini di Spotorno, giunta alla 16a edizione. A Varigotti, frazione di Finale Ligure, il paese che forse
conta il numero più elevato di hotel dove i bimbi
si sentono come a casa, gli spettacoli per i bambini sono al primo posto nell’organizzazione dell’intrattenimento nel mese clou delle ferie, agosto.
Nei pressi c’è la Baia dei Saraceni, una delle
spiagge più belle della Liguria, frequentata in particolare dai giovani. Questo tratto di mare è proprio per tutti: si inizia a frequentarlo da bambini
e non lo si abbandona più.

In Italia le località di mare che vantano le acque
più pulite e i migliori servizi vengono segnalate
con una bandiera blu. Quest’anno sono ben 227,
equivalenti a 113 località rivierasche. Al top spiccano Toscana, Marche e Liguria. Quest’ultima si
segnala per le spiagge a misura di bambino. Nel
tratto compreso tra Varazze e Finale Ligure, dove
le bandiere blu sono ben nove, da giugno a settembre famiglie e nonni con bambini trovano alberghi adeguati, con orari flessibili per i pasti e
menù-baby, offerte che includono servizi alla
spiaggia per il massimo divertimento dei bambini
e riposo dei genitori. In questa che è chiamata la
Riviera delle Palme le spiagge sono prevalentemente di sabbia e quindi più idonee ai giochi, all’ingresso in acqua senza l’assillo dei sandaletti e

a theatre festival in Spotorno for
children already in its 16th edition.
In Varigotti, a hamlet of Finale Ligure, the town that has perhaps the
most child-friendly hotels, the performances for children are the top
among the entertainment organized during the peak holiday
month of August. Nearby there is
the Saracen Bay, one of the most
beautiful beaches of Liguria, a popular hangout among the youth.
This stretch of sea really has
something for everyone: one starts
out coming here as a child and
doesn’t ever leave it.

L’arte dei Papi e
dei cuochi

Der Gebäudekomplex von Santa Croce umfasst auch zwei schöne Kreuzgänge und ein
wunderbarer Bibliothekssaal, mit drei Schiffen, die von doppelten Säulenreihen mit Klostergewölbe unterteilt werden. Heute ist der
Komplex der permanente Sitz des von Michail Gorbatschow präsidierten World Political Forum.
Pius V pflegte zwar sehr strenge Sitten, liebte
aber die gute Küche und reiste stets in Gesellschaft von Pater Bartolomeo Scappi, seinem
“geheimen
Koch”,
Autor
einer
sechsbändigen Abhandlung über die italienische Küche, mit mehr als 1000 Rezepten und
der ersten Erwähnung und Beschreibung
eines Geräts, das wir heute alle gut kennen:
die Gabel! Vielleicht lässt sich auf seine Einwirkung in Bosco der Beginn einer langen Tradition
der
Qualitätsgastronomie
zurückführen, die dafür gesorgt hat, dass an
den hiesigen Tafeln ganze Generationen von
Gourmets gesessen haben. Eine Tradition, mit
der bis heute nicht gebrochen wurde…

Michele Ghislieri wurde im Jahr 1504 in
Bosco Marengo geboren. 1566 wurde er mit
dem Namen Pius V zum Papst ernannt. In seinen sechs Jahren im Pontifikat hat er eine
starke Spur von sich hinterlassen, die Geschichte Europas wäre anders verlaufen,
wenn es die Schlacht von Lepanto nicht gegeben hätte, in der die von ihm organisierte
Heilige Liga die Ausdehnung des Osmanischen Reichs nach Westen hin verhinderte.
Pius V ließ außerdem in Bosco die mächtige
Basilika Santa Croce errichten, das größte Renaissancegebäude im Piemont und das erste
Beispiel der Kirchenarchitektur der Gegenreform. Die Strenge des Stils hielt nicht davon
ab, die Kirche mit Kunstschätzen anzufüllen:
Teil dieses Vermögens ging verloren, aber
viele Meisterwerke befinden sich auch heute
noch dort, besonders zahlreiche Gemälde von
Giorgio Vasari, darunter das wunderbare
Jüngste Gericht und eine sehr schöne Anbetung der Könige. Wirklich bemerkenswert sind
auch die Werke von Guglielmo Caccia, genannt
der Moncalvo, das Mausoleum Pius V und der

particular many painted by
Giorgio Vasari, among which
the awesome Universal Judgement stands out and the beautiful Adoration of the Magi.
Truly noteworthy are the
works of art by Guglielmo Caccia, nicknamed il Moncalvo,
and even the Mausoleum of
Pius V and the
Gargioli
wooden choir in bass-relief.
The Santa Croce complex includes also two beautiful cloisters and a stupendous library
room of three aisles divided in
two rows by columns with a
groin vault. Today it is the per-
manent seat of the World Political Forum, presided over by
mr. Mikhail Gorbatchev.
Though his morals were rigid,
Pius V loved fine cooking and
he travelled accompanied by
father Bartoleomeo Scappi his
“secret cook”, author in 1570
of a treaty in six volumes of
the Italian cuisine with over
1,000 recipes and the first citation and description of a utensil that today we all know well:
the fork! Perhaps the long, fine
dining tradition that the town
boasts of, that has seen entire
generations of gourmets sit at
these tables, is due to his presence in Bosco. And the tradition continues...

Michele Ghislieri was born in
Bosco Marengo in 1504. In
1566 he became Pope Pius V.
In his six years as pontificate
he left ample traces of himself,
and the history of Europe
would now be different were it
not for the battle of Lepanto, in
which the Holy League organized by him, halted the western expansion of the Turkish
empire. Pius V had the imposing Basilica di Santa Croce built
in Bosco, the greatest Renaissance building in Piedmont; it
was the first Ecclesiastic architectural example of the
Counter-reformation. The austerity of its style didn’t prevent

Marengo nel 1504. Nel 1566 divenne Papa col nome di Pio V.
Nei suoi sei anni di pontificato
lasciò ampie tracce di sé, e la
storia d’Europa sarebbe stata diversa se non ci fosse stata la battaglia di Lepanto, in cui la lega
dei principi da lui organizzata
fermò l’espansione dell’impero
turco verso occidente. Pio V fece
edificare a Bosco l’imponente
Basilica di Santa Croce, la più
grande opera rinascimentale in
Piemonte, primo esempio di architettura ecclesiale della Controriforma. L’austerità dello stile
non impedì che la chiesa si colmasse di tesori d’arte: parte del
patrimonio è andata dispersa,
ma molti capolavori sono ancora
presenti, in particolare numerosi
dipinti di Giorgio Vasari , tra cui
spiccano un mirabile Giudizio
Universale e una bellissima Adorazione dei Magi. Davvero degne
di nota anche le opere di Guglielmo Caccia, detto il Moncalvo, il Mausoleo di Pio V, il coro
ligneo in bassorilievo del Gargioli.
Il complesso di Santa Croce comprende anche due bei chiostri, e
una stupenda sala della libreria,
a tre navate divise da doppie file
di colonne con volte a crociera.
Oggi è sede permanente del
World Political Forum, presieduto da Mikhail Gorbatchev.
Pur essendo di costumi rigidi,
Pio V amava la buona cucina, e
viaggiava accompagnato da
padre Bartolomeo Scappi, il suo
“cuoco segreto”, autore nel 1570
di un trattato in sei volumi sulla
cucina italiana, con oltre 1000
ricette e la prima citazione e descrizione di un attrezzo che
oggi tutti conosciamo bene: la
forchetta! Forse si deve alla sua
presenza a Bosco l’avvio della
lunga tradizione che il paese
vanta nella ristorazione di qualità, che ha visto sedersi a queste tavole intere generazioni di
gourmet di alto livello. E la tradizione continua…

Italy counts 8,000 municipalities, all with a story to tell. Some very
proud of their past propose medieval commemorations whose Leitmotif is their spectacularity. In September the most famous one in
northern Italy is at Asti: On Sunday the 20th, 21 jockeys will compete for the prize in a city draped with flags in the neighbourhood
colours, which also parade with over 1,200 performers. Each neighbourhood recalls a story: that of San Lazzaro as winner of the Palio
commemorates a festive public banquet held in 1498.
In the nearby province of Alessandria there truly are many medieval
festivals, the one in Cassine involves the entire town: the 5th and 6th
of September around the Chiesa di San Francesco one of the most
crazy and exciting performances with the theme Ludendo Intelligere
is held in memoriam of Gian Galeazzo Visconti’s visit.
At Pozzolo Formigaro the leap into the past is made on the 19th
and the 20th of September, with its beautiful castle at its centre: a
medieval dinner on Saturday night, and a medieval-dress parade,
battle scenes and falconry on Sunday. At Gavi on the 26th and 27th
they commemorate the time when the fort was the impregnable
bulwark of the Republic of Genoa. Musketeers, pike men, gunners,
soldiers and officials with families in tow, these are the protagonists of the performance organized by Friends of the Fort of Gavi,
Company of the Pike and Musket of Novi Ligure, the historic group
Spinola County, of Ronco Scrivia and the tourist association of
Gavi. In the antique borough of Monserito there is also an exhibit
of products from the area.
Outside of Piedmont the myth of the Middle Ages is celebrated in
Medicina, at the gates of Bologna, from the 17th to the 21st of September: an unusual medicine healed Federico I referred to as Barbarossa, who was passing through the borough. The prodigious
event saved the life of the Emperor and gave a new name to the village. Between history and legend this is a nice way to live the last
remnants of summer.

Nella vicina provincia di Alessandria sono tante e diverse tra loro
le Feste Medievali, quella di Cassine coinvolge l’intero paese: il 5 e

Intelligere si terrà una delle più
folli ed emozionanti edizioni a ricordo della visita di Gian Galeazzo Visconti.
A Pozzolo Formigaro il tuffo nel
passato ritorna il 19 e 20 settembre ed ha come centro il suo bel
castello: cena medievale il sabato,
spettacoli di falconeria,corteo in
costume e scene di battaglia la domenica. A Gavi il 26 e 27 si rievocano i tempi in cui il Forte era
l’inespugnabile baluardo della Repubblica di Genova. Moschettieri,
picchieri, artiglieri, soldati ed ufficiali con famiglie al seguito sono
i protagonisti delle rappresentazioni organizzate da Amici del
Forte di Gavi, Compagnia della
Picca e del Moschetto di Novi Ligure, gruppo storico Contea Spinola di Ronco Scrivia e la pro loco
di Gavi. Nell’antico borgo di Monserito si tiene anche una rassegna
di prodotti del territorio.
Fuori dal Piemonte il mito del Medioevo è festeggiato a Medicina,
alle porte di Bologna, dal 17 al 21
settembre: un’insolita medicina
guarì Federico I detto il Barbarossa di passaggio nel borgo.
L’evento prodigioso regalò la salvezza all’imperatore ed un nuovo
nome al villaggio.

Südfrüchte am
Lago Maggiore
Man muss nicht ganz bis nach Sizilien reisen, um
den Duft der Orangen zu genießen; halten Sie
doch einfach einmal kurz nach den Alpen, am italienischen Ufer des Lago Maggiore in Cannero Riviera an.
Weniger bekannt als die mondäneren Orte Stresa
und Locarno, liegt dieser kleine Flecken auf der
Piemonteser Seite des Sees, ihm gegenüber die
kleinen Inseln mit den Ruinen der Burgen aus
dem 13. und 14. Jahrhundert, die sich im Wasser
wiederspiegeln.
Zu ihrer faszinierenden, mit den schrecklichen
Brüdern Mazzarditi verbundenen Geschichte, die
diese Küste mit Eisen und Feuer beherrschten, bis
sie 1414 vom Herzog von Mailand besiegt wurden, bietet Cannero Riviera zahlreiche Attraktionen: Das Wasser bietet hier mit der Blauen Flagge
exzellente Bademöglichkeiten und seit 2008 auch
die Orangene Flagge des Touring Clubs für die
Umweltqualitäten mit dem botanischen Erbe der
Zitruspflanzen.
Das Gebiet wird den ganzen Tag über von der
Sonne beschienen und vom hinter ihm liegenden
Monte Morissolo vor den kalten Nordwinden be-
schützt. Deshalb können hier süße und bittere
Orangen, gelbe und rosafarbene Grapefruit, die
Pomeranzenart Chinotto und Zitronen gedeihen:
die “spalliere di agrumi di Cannero’’, die Zitruspflanzenspaliere von Cannero, werden bereits
1603 im Buch von Fra Paolo Moriggia “Historia e
della nobiltà et degne qualità del Lago Maggiore ”
genannt. In Cannero gewachsene Zitronen und
Orangen haben 25% mehr Vitamin C als sizilianische und die Canneresi, die Einwohner des Ortes
sind darauf berechtigterweise stolz. Jedes Jahr
findet am ersten Märzwochenende die traditionelle Zitruspflanzen-Schau statt: Botanische Gärten öffnen ihre Tore, damit das Publikum den
Duft dieser Früchte genießen und die antike Tradition des Ortes erlebt werden kann. Zwei Wochen
später dann die internationale Kamelien-Schau
mit 3.000 ausgestellten Exemplaren. Diese Veranstaltung, mit denen Duft und Geschmack des Sees
gefeiert werden, weihen die schöne Jahreszeit ein,
bis zum Ende des Sommers bietet Cannero seinen
Gästen, die einen erholsamen, genießerischen Urlaub suchen, Wanderungen, Konzerte und Gastronomiefeste.

Less known than the more mundane Stresa and Locarno, this little borough is located on the
Piedmont side of the lake; directly in front there are oxbows
with ruins of Castelli of 1200’s
and 1300’s that mirror off the
water their reflections.
To its fascinating history, tied to
the terrible Mazzarditi brothers
that held the coastline in their
iron grip until 1414 when they
were defeated by the Duke of
Milan, Cannero Riviera added
even more attraction; the waters
boast the Blue Flag for excellent
swimming and since 2008 the
tourist environmental quality
connected to the citrus fruit
botanical heritage has earned
the Orange Flag of the Italian
Touring Club.
The area is exposed the entire
day to the sun and is protected
from behind by the Morissolo
mountains that break the cold
northern winds. In this way they
can bear sweet and bitter oranges, yellow as well as pink
grapefruit, chinotti (a kind of
bitter orange) and lemons: the
“trellis of citrus fruit of Cannero”
were already cited in the book
by Paolo Moriggia “Historia e
della nobilita et degne qualita del
Lago Maggiore”. The lemons
and oranges of Cannero contain
25% more vitamin C compared
to the ones from Sicily and the
Cannerese are rightly proud.
Every year during the first weekend of March the traditional citrus fruit exhibit takes place:
botanical gardens open their
doors to allow visitors to savour
again scent of these fruits and to
convey the age old tradition of
the town. The event is followed
fifteen days later by the international camellia exhibit, with
3,000 samples on
display.
These
events dedicated
to the tastes and
scents of the lake
open the beautiful
season: until the
end of the summer Cannero offers walks and
concerts, gastronomy feasts for
those tourists that
appreciate
the
slower pace for a
really rejuvenating holiday.
Le Arance che non ti aspetti sul Lago Maggiore
Non dobbiamo scendere fino in
Sicilia per godere dei profumi
degli aranci; basta fermarsi a ridosso delle Alpi, sulle rive italiane
del Lago Maggiore, a
Cannero Riviera.
Meno conosciuto delle più mondane Stresa e Locarno, il piccolo
borgo è collocato sulla sponda
piemontese del lago; di fronte ha
i suoi isolotti con le rovine dei
Castelli del 1200 e 1300 che si
specchiano nell’acqua da cui
sembrano uscire per poi rientrarvi con i quei riflessi che restituiscono la loro immagine in
negativo.
Alla sua affascinante storia, legata ai terribili fratelli Mazzarditi che tennero a ferro e fuoco il
litorale fino al 1414 quando furono sconfitti dal Duca di Milano, Cannero Riviera
aggiunge molte attrattive:
le acque si fregiano della
Bandiera Blu di eccellente
balneabilità e dal 2008 le
qualità turistico ambientali collegate al patrimonio botanico degli agrumi
hanno ottenuto la Bandiera Arancione del Touring.
La zona è esposta al sole
per l’intera giornata ed è
riparata alle spalle dal
monte Morissolo che arresta i freddi venti del nord.
Così possono fruttificare
arance dolci e amare,
pompelmi gialli e rosa, chinotti
e limoni: le “spalliere di agrumi
di Cannero’’ sono citate già nel
1603 nel libro di fra Paolo Moriggia “Historia e della nobiltà et
degne qualità del Lago Maggiore
”. I limoni e gli aranci di Cannero
contengono il 25% in più di vitamina C rispetto a quelli siciliani
e i Canneresi ne sono giustamente orgogliosi. Ogni anno, il
primo fine settimana di marzo,
si svolge la tradizionale mostra
degli agrumi: giardini botanici
aprono le porte per far riassaporare i profumi di questi frutti e
trasmettere l’antica tradizione
del paese. Si replica quindici
giorni dopo con la mostra internazionale delle camelie, 3.000
esemplari in esposizione. Questi
eventi dedicati ai sapori e ai profumi del lago aprono la bella stagione: fino al termine dell’estate
Cannero offre camminate e concerti, feste gastronomiche ai turisti che amano il lento scorrere
del tempo per una vacanza davvero rigenerante.

Verdea,
the wine of Milan
Verdea, il vino di Milano
che in passato era raccolta per essere conservata
in fruttaia e consumata sulle tavole invernali,
anche come portafortuna nel pranzo natalizio.
Il nome deriva dal latino “viridens”, cioè verde,
per il colore del grappolo prima della completa
maturazione (poi diventa giallo paglierino intenso, al punto da essere anche chiamata “uva dorata”) e forse anche per i riflessi verdolini del vino
nel bicchiere. La Verdea è oggi vinificata da pochi
produttori nelle tipologie ferma, frizzante e passita. I profumi classici sono quelli citrini, con note
vegetali, e il gusto è fresco e dissetante sia nella
versione ferma che spumante. Ovviamente, il passito è più intenso e zuccherino, e si abbina perfettamente all’eccellente gorgonzola piccante e
agli altri formaggi prodotti in zona.

San Colombano era un monaco irlandese che nel
VI secolo fondò numerose abbazie tra la Borgogna e la Lombardia.
San Colombano al Lambro, cittadina tra Milano,
Lodi e Pavia deve il suo nome a questo Santo, che
passò di qui e probabilmente diede avvio alla coltivazione della vite. La collina di San Colombano
non è molto alta, solo 147 metri s.l.m. , ma è
l’unico punto rilevato nella piatta pianura del Po.
Il suolo è ricco di coralli fossili, per questo si
pensa che originariamente sia stato un atollo corallino. Oggi qui si produce ancora un vino rosso
DOC, l’unico della provincia di Milano.
La Verdea è un vitigno autoctono più che millenario. E’ il più tipico e raro da queste parti, un’ uva
bianca dalla buccia spessa e dalla buona acidità,

San Colombano al Lambro is a
town close to Milan, Lodi and
Pavia. It takes the name from
the holy monk, who probably
also started there the first vineyard. The hill of San Colombano
is not very high, only 147 meters a.s.l., but is the only high
point in the flat Po valley. The
soil is rich in coral fossils, so the
hill is thought to be a former
coral-reef atoll. Nowadays, here
it is still produced a red D.O.C.
wine, the only one in Milan
province.
VERDEA is a more than thousand years old indigenous vine.
It is the most rare and typical
here, a white grape with a strong
skin and good acidity, which in
the past was late harvested to
be saved and eaten in wintertime, even for Christmas lunch
as a good wish.
The name is sounding from the
latin word “viridens”, that
means “green”, because of the
colour of this grape till full
ripening (after, it turns on a full
straw yellow, that’s why it is
also named “the golden grape”)
and maybe the greenish reflections of the wine in the glass.
Verdea is now produced by
some small wineries as a still,
sparkling, or passito white wine.
The natural perfumes are rich in
citrus and vegetable tones, and
the taste is fresh and thirstquenching both for still and
sparkling.
Of course, the passito is richer
in sugars, and it is a perfect
companion for the fantastic gorgonzola blue, and the other
cheeses produced nearby.
Verdea, der Mailänder Wein
Heute wird hier der einzige
DOC-Rotwein der Provinz Mailand angebaut.
Die Verdea dagegen ist eine autochthone, mehr als tausendjährige weiße Rebsorte. Eine seltene
und für diese Gegend sehr typische Traube mit dicker Schale
und schöner Säure, die einstmals nach der Lese in der Obstscheune eingelagert und im
Winter gegessen wurde, beim
Weihnachtsessen kam sie als
Glücksbringer auf den Tisch.
Ihr Name leitet sich vom lateinischen “viridens”,“grün”, ab, der
Farbe der Traube vor der vollen
Reife (dann wird sie intensiv
strohgelb und auch “uva do-
rata”, “goldene Traube” genannt), wahrscheinich auch in
Bezug auf die grünlichen Reflexe des Weins im Glas. Die Verdea wird heute nur noch von
wenigen Winzern zu stillem,
Perlwein oder Trockenbeerenauslese („passito“) verarbeitet.
Typisch sind zitronige Aromen
mit pflanzlichen Noten, im Geschmack ist sowohl der stille als
auch der Perlein frisch und
durststillend, als Passito natürlich intensiver und zuckerhaltiger, er passt dann perfekt zu
dem exzellenten pikanten Gorgonzola und anderen Käsesorten, die hier in der Gegend
hergestellt werden.

San Colombano, der Heilige Kolomban, war ein irischer Mönch,
der im 6. Jh. zahlreiche Abteien
zwischen Burgund und Lombardei gründete.
Der kleine Ort San Colombano al
Lambro zwischen Mailand, Lodi
und Pavia wurde nach dem Heiligen benannt, der hier durchzog und wahrscheinlich den
Weinanbau mitbrachte. Der hiesige Hügel ist zwar nicht sehr
hoch, mit seinen 147 m ü.d.M.
aber doch der höchste Punkt der
flachen Po-Ebene, mit einem an
fossilen Korallen reichen Boden,
durch den man davon ausgeht,
dass sich hier einmal ein Korallatoll befand.

Dutzende Hotels auch Hund
und Katze auf, nicht ganz so
viele gibt es im Aostatal, am
Gardasee ist die Auswahl groß,
recht wenige sind es bisher am
Lago Maggiore, sehr gut sieht
es dagegen mit der Ausstattung an der Küste Romagnas
und den Urlaubsorten des Venetos aus. Auch die Anzahl der
Fido gegenüber gastfreundlichen Gastwirte wächst.
Und wie verhalten sich die
Städte der Kunst? Gut Florenz
und das Gebiet von Neapel
und Pompei; auch Venedig ist
dabei sich auszurüsten, wenig
gibt es bisher in Rom, hier
wurde aber zumindest längs
des Tiberufers das “Bau Village” eingerichtet. Eine gute
Lösung sind immer die Agritourismus-Unterkünfte: Jede
zweite nimmt Gäste auf 4 Pfoten auf.
Hotels und öffentliche Lokale
haben gut auf die Initiative
des Ministeriums für Tourismus reagiert; es ghet hier um
eine kulturelle Angelegenheit,
aber auch um ein interessantes Geschäft, wichtig ist, dass
niemand die Situation missbraucht.
