Veleria San Giorgio, con i suoi 84 anni di storia, è la più antica e

best-known Italian company in the field of design and production
of lifejackets.
Nel presentare la nuova gamma di prodotti certificati dal Registro
Navale Italiano secondo la ISO 12402 e la IMO Res. MSC 200(80)
- 226(82) la nostra Azienda conferma, per l’ennesima volta, di
essere sempre all’avanguardia.

Dal 1926 ad oggi VSG ha percorso tutto il cammino della nautica
italiana, vivendo da protagonista le diverse tappe che hanno
contraddistinto un mercato in continuo sviluppo, garantendo
sempre innovazione e qualità. Dalla confezione delle vele e delle
cerate per i mercantili in transito nel porto di Genova alle prime
forniture per la Marina Militare e, con la graduale meccanizzazione
dei bastimenti, la diversificazione dei prodotti e le prime realizzazioni
di bandiere e giubbotti di salvataggio. Scelta divenuta strategica
negli anni 60 con lo sviluppo della nautica da diporto.
VSG undertook the whole course of the Italian nautical field from 1926
until today, living the lead role during the different stages of a market in
constant development, guaranteeing innovation and quality. We begun
manufacturing sails and waxed clothes for merchant ships in transit
at the port of Genoa. After that we begun to supply the Navy and
considering the gradual mechanization of ships, we diversified the
production realizing flags and lifejackets. This choice turned out to
be strategic in the 60’s thanks to the development of the pleasure
craft market.
Da allora VSG ha investito le proprie risorse nella progettazione di
articoli in grado di garantire sempre la massima sicurezza in
mare ed il più alto grado di comfort. Innovazione e ricerca hanno
portato negli anni alla creazione di oltre 200 prodotti, certificati dal
RINA, garanzia di qualità e sicurezza, destinati non solo al mercato
diportistico, ma anche al settore militare (Guardia Costiera, reparti
navali della Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri, Polizia, Reparti Speciali
e Croce Rossa) e a quello mercantile-professionale (Costa Crociere,
Grimaldi, Carnival Cruises ecc).
Esperienze significative, in ambito sportivo, quelle con gli equipaggi
di Coppa America e la collaborazione esclusiva con FIV, Federazione
Italiana Vela, come fornitori ufficiali di materiali di sicurezza per la
squadra velica olimpica di Atene 2004 e di Pechino 2008.

Innovation and research leaded to the creation of more than 200
products certified by RINA, representing quality and safety guarantee.
They have been designed for the pleasure craft market, for the
military sector (Coast Guard, naval units of Guardia di Finanza,
Carabinieri, Police Force, special units and Red Cross) and the
mercantile-professional sector (Costa Cruises, Grimaldi, Carnival
Cruises etc.) too.
VSG had important experiences in the sport field like the collaboration
with the crews of America's Cup and the exclusive collaboration
with FIV (Italian Sailing Federation) as official supplier of safety
equipment for the sailing team during Athens 2004 and Beijing
2008 Olympic Games.
Un’attenzione privilegiata è sempre riservata allo sviluppo dei
giubbotti gonfiabili, segmento divenuto distintivo per VSG, una
vera “mission”, nella consapevolezza della crescente richiesta di
qualità nel giubbotto, unita al minor ingombro possibile.
VSG - la prima ad omologare nel 1995 i giubbotti gonfiabili per
la nautica da diporto - ha proseguito il suo cammino negli anni
ideando e producendo giubbotti extra-tecnici per il velista più
esigente, per il pescasportivo, anche per il diportista che ama vestire
prodotti personalizzati o “fashion”, grazie alla collaborazione con
Swarovski; perseguendo la ricerca del minimo ingombro con il
giubbino a marsupio e a cintura, non ultima la creazione di una
gamma dedicata ai Corpi Militari e professionali con i GAP, giubbotti
antiproiettile galleggianti. Molti i brevetti e i modelli industriali di
utilità depositati negli anni.
Nelle ultime stagioni VSG ha ulteriormente assecondato la sua
vocazione per la massima sicurezza in mare sviluppando una linea
dedicata ai bambini; costumini galleggianti e giubbotti di salvataggio
realizzati con i famosi “Simpsons” e “Pimpa”. Il più recente accordo
stipulato per la progettazione e produzione in esclusiva di dotazioni
di sicurezza a marchio “1530 - Capitanerie di Porto - Guardia
Costiera” è l’ennesima conferma di serietà e competenza.
Da questo accordo nascerà una linea di prodotti
dedicata al diportista, particolarmente innovativa
e sviluppata con il contributo di chi vive il mare
quotidianamente.
A particular attention is always paid to the improvement of the
inflatable lifejackets, a distinguishing segment of market for VSG,
representing a real "mission", conscious that high quality and little
encumbrance are more and more requested.
VSG - was the first company to homologate in the 1995 the
inflatable lifejackets for the pleasure craft market- We continued
our course over the years designing and producing extra-technical
lifejackets for the most demanding yachtsmen, for the sport
fishermen and also for people loving to dress personalized or
"fashion" clothes: we collaborated with Swarovski, we created the
pocket-lifejacket and the belt-lifejacket making a search for the little
encumbrance. We also created a range dedicated to professional
and military units: GAP, the floating bullet-proof jacket. We also
deposited many patents and utility models over the years.
In the last years VSG kept looking for the maximum safety in the sea,
creating a line dedicated to children: floating bathing costumes and
lifejackets produced with printed fabrics about the famous
"Simpsons" and "Pimpa" cartoons. The newest agreement
concerning the exclusive design and production of safety
equipment with the trademark "1530 - Port Authorities - Coast Guard"
is a further confirmation of seriousness and skill. This
agreement will open the door to a new line of
products dedicated to the pleasure craft market:
a particularly innovative line developed with the
contribution of people that daily enjoy the sea.

Sono state pubblicate le nuove norme europee che dettano i requisiti di sicurezza e le caratteristiche tecniche per gli aiuti al
galleggiamento ed i giubbotti di salvataggio, le EN ISO 12402 a marcatura CE, che vanno a sostituire le norme che erano in
vigore da ormai più di dieci anni. Esse sono suddivise in dieci parti tutte strettamente correlate tra loro.

La disposizione ottimale della massa galleggiante è individuata all’altezza dello sterno, ma fino ad oggi ciò era ottenibile,
senza impedire significativamente i movimenti dell’utilizzatore, solamente con i giubbotti di salvataggio gonfiabili.
Il nuovo sistema “SPEED-UP” sviluppato e brevettato da Veleria San Giorgio, grazie al particolare taglio e
posizionamento del materiale espanso, garantisce risultati eccezionali anche per i giubbotti di salvataggio cosiddetti
“rigidi” migliorandone la vestibilità grazie alla particolare ergonomia.
For these reasons the optimal placement of the floating masses is at the high of the breastbone but until today it was
possible to let free the movement of the body just using the inflatable lifejackets. The new system “SPEED-UP”
developed and patented by Veleria San Giorgio, thanks to the particular cut and placement of the expanded
material, assure great results for the “rigid” lifejackets too, more easy to wear thanks to the special ergonomic design.

Come evidenziato nel disegno qui sopra le masse che concorrono in maniera preponderante alla spinta rotazionale
e d’inclinazione, sono individuate sul petto dell’utilizzatore.
La giusta sproporzione da destra a sinistra garantisce una sorprendente velocità di rotazione del corpo; l’accentramento della maggior parte della massa galleggiante all’altezza dello sterno e il suo sviluppo verso il basso, garantiscono i gradi corretti d’inclinazione.
As you can notice in the above drawing the masses that mainly combine to the force of the rotation and the inclination are on the bosom of the user. The fair disproportion from the right side to the left side assure a surprising
spreed of the body rotation; the centralising of the floating mass at the high of the breastbone and its development
downward assure the right inclination’s degrees.

Dopo le esperienze con gli equipaggi di Coppa
America, vogliamo sottolineare la storica collaborazione in esclusiva di VSG con la FIV,
Federazione Italiana Vela, nella veste di sponsor tecnico e fornitore ufficiale di attrezzature di
sicurezza per la squadra velica olimpica, prima
di Atene 2004 e poi di Pechino 2008. Queste
sfide ci hanno portato a maturare un'esperienza specifica per la progettazione e realizzazione
delle nuove linee di articoli dedicati ad un uso
sportivo.
After the experiences with America’s Cup
crews, we feel important to point out the
well-established exclusive collaboration of
VSG with FIV (Italian Sailing Federation), as
technical sponsor and official supplier of
safety equipment for the sailing team during
Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. Those
challenges gave us a specific experience to
design and to produce the new sportswear
lines.
Nasce una nuova ed importante collaborazione
tra VSG e Guardia Costiera - Capitanerie di
Porto. L'incontro tra due realtà che vivono il
mare quotidianamente, su due piani differenti
ma a tuttotondo, non può che portare ad una
sinergia progettuale e produttiva di grande
valore. Da questa realtà è scaturita la linea CP
dedicata ai sistemi di protezione individuale
e collettivi a marchio Guardia Costiera Capitanerie di Porto, prodotta e distribuita in
esclusiva da VSG a partire dal 2009. Obiettivo
primario è la diffusione informativa del 1530,
numero di emergenza in mare: l'apposizione
dello stesso sui prodotti della linea CP lo renderà immediatamente fruibile a tutti gli utenti
del mare.
A new and important collaboration between
VSG and the Cost Guard - Port Authorities: the
meeting of two realities daily living the sea in
a different way but creating in the whole an
inevitable and important synergy concerning
design and production. This fact created the
new “CP Line”, dedicated to individual and
collective safety, using the Coast Guard and
the Port Authorities trademarks: it will be
exclusive produced and distributed by VSG
from the 2009. Considering that the first order
of business was the diffusion of the sea
emergency number (1530), it has been affixed
on all the CP Line products immediately
becoming accessible to everybody.

Nel Luglio 2010 entra in vigore la
nuova normativa internazionale
MSC 200(80) emessa dall'IMO
(International Maritime Organisation).
Questa nuova norma rivede e modifica
gli standard esistenti dettati dalla
precedente MSC 81(70) in relazione ai
giubbotti di salvataggio a marcatura SOLAS.
Le principali novità riguardano le caratteristiche
tecniche/strutturali delle materie prime utilizzate
per la costruzione ed i test in acqua dei dispositivi.
Le prove funzionali dei giubbotti sono rapportate
ad una “reference vest”, giubbotto di salvataggio
di riferimento realizzato secondo le indicazioni
di un'apposita commissione internazionale.
La galleggiabilità minima dei nuovi
giubbotti, in funzione ai nuovi test, è
divenuta 150N; la specifica disposizione
delle masse galleggianti (“Speed-Up”)
consente un maggior sostegno in
acqua, una più rapida rotazione del
corpo da prono a supino ed una inclinazione stabile che consenta la massima distanza
dall'acqua delle vie respiratorie. Un'importante
accessorio, previsto per tutti i nuovi giubbotti, è
il sistema di vincolo tra dispositivi di salvataggio,
cioè la possibilità di creare una “cordata” in acqua
in caso di attesa dei soccorsi. Tutti i giubbotti di
“Veleria San Giorgio” sono dotati di tale dispositivo,
denominato “Buddy System”.
The new international regulation MSC 200(80)
issued by IMO (international Maritime
Organisation) come into force on the july 2010.
This new regulation reassess and modify the
pre-existing standards set in the previous
regulation MSC 81(70) concerning SOLAS
lifejackets. The main changes concern the
structural and technical features of raw materials
used for the construction of devices and their
test in the water. The functioning testing is
compared to a reference lifejacket realized
according to the indications of a specific
international committee. The least buoyancy
level of new lifejackets according to the new
tests became 150 N; the specific placement of
floating masses (our Speed-Up design) permits
a greater support in water, a more rapid rotation
of the body from the prone position to the supine
position and a stable inclination permitting a long
distance between the respiratory tracts and
the water. An important accessory provided for
all the new lifejackets is the buddy system,
representing the possibility to create a sort of
roped party in the water in case of wait of
rescue. All Veleria San Giorgio's lifejackets are
equipped with the “Buddy System” device.
