Failure to request updating of the CdP and the registration certificate will bring about the application, in case of a roadside check, of monetary fines as well as withdrawal of the registration certificate according to art 94 of the Highway Code. This certificate relieves the vehicle’s owner of any (civil, penal, and administrative) responsibility. The obligation for the registered owner to pay the motor vehicle tax (bollo auto) also ceases from the date the vehicle is handed over, as stated in the certificate.
