Specific treatment service provided
The Dermatologic Clinic deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all diseases that affect the
skin/ that have to do with skin.
As a tertiary referall center other than general dermatology, the Clinic include specialized
services including phototherapy, allergological dermatology, autoimmune bullous disease
clinic, capillaroscopy, surgical dermatology, dermatologic emergency counseling, skin cancer
service (including photodynamic therapy and videodermatoscopy), a specialized clinic for
organ transplant recipients, psoriasis, pediatric dermatology and sexually transmitted diseases.
The clinic also carries out research activities with national and international funding particularly
on psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous reactions to drugs, autoimmune
skin diseases, infections and skin cancers in patients with transplanted organ, and on pediatric
dermatology. Clinical trials are also conducted especially of the therapy of psoriasis and atopic
dermatitis.
Brief description of the diseases treated:
Clinical activities of particular relevance are the following:
Diagnosis and follow-up of melanoma and other skin cancers, including photodynamic therapy;
Diagnosis and follow-up of allergic contact dermatitis;
Dermatological monitoring of transplanted organ recipients;
Diagnosis and therapy of photodermatoses;
Reference center for dermatologic adverse reactions to drugs;
Reference center for the treatment of psoriasis;
Reference center for the diagnosis, certification and treatment of rare dermatological diseases;
Reference center for the diagnosis and treatment of mastocytosis in childhood and adulthood;
