In particolare si è voluta tracciare una linea di continuità tra la figura del santo patrono d’Irlanda, Dante e il poeta irlandese Seamus Heaney; dalla raccolta Station Island, si è proposta l’analisi della poesia VII dalla sezione che dà il titolo all’opera, guidando gli studenti al riconoscimento dei riferimenti intertestuali alla Divina Commedia e in particolare al Purgatorio dantesco e del parallelo individuato da Heaney tra la Firenze medievale lacerata da lotte intestine e l’Irlanda dei Troubles.
