The TPT-2000 is a device for the remote control and supervision of the Primary Substation
(conversion from High Voltage to Medium Voltage) by ENEL Distribuzione.
The TPT-2000 communicates with central ENEL equipment (Centre) for:
! forwarding remote controls received from the Centre to the field;
! acquiring and making available to the Centre the information relating to the status of
manoeuvre components and to the safety and check devices installed in the systems;
! send the value of the analog measurements from the system to the Centre.
TPT-2000 implements local processing of medium complexity, aimed at correlating input signals
and transmitting to the Centre the signal of the synthetic event that generated them.

Communication between TPT-2000 and Centre uses standard Internet protocols and is based on
the following types of vector:
! Ethernet on optic fibre;
! modem on dedicated 2- or 4-wire lines.
! modem on dial-up telephone network (PSTN) or GSM.
The TPT-2000 is entirely configurable and programmable via a portable Personal Computer
connected via RS232 serial line or Ethernet. The TPT-2000 application program can also be
updated locally or remotely.
The TPT-2000 comprises the following functional blocks:
! 4 modules for direct interface with the field capable of:
• acquiring 1000 digital input signals at 24 V;
• acquiring 72 analog input signals (measurements) each of which may be selected via S/W
within the ranges –5/+5 mA, 0/20 mA or 4/20 mA;
• controlling 220 digital relay outputs each of which is able to control 5A at 110V;
! a processing module (Industrial Computer) fitted with the following peripheral devices:
• solid state hard disk;
• 100Mb Ethernet card on optic fibre;
• 3 RS232 serial lines;
• 3 RS485 serial lines;
• hardware watch-dog device for automatic reset in event of program crash;
! 24V power supply system with grounded positive;
The TPT-2000 is able to acquire signals from external peripheral devices using the serial lines via
MODBUS protocol (both in ASCII and RTU format).
The TPT-2000 is contained in
a steel cabinet with a
protection rating of IP3x. All
its component parts are fitted
on the normalized 19” frame.
The cables connecting to the
field can be routed from the
bottom (through the false
floor) or from the top
(through the openable false
ceiling).
The
TPT-2000
is
also
available in a reduced
version, which is able to
acquire only 500 input signals
and 32 analog measurements
and control only 120 relay
outputs.
