European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 The Path Through Generations New spaces to facilitate and encourage a lasting and growing relationship between the aged and children Parrocchia di Santa Maria di Feletto Comune di San Pietro di Feletto - Treviso La Fondazione De Lozzo-Dalto Childcare centre “Girotondo delle Età” The two centres, are indipendent , however they come together to work on specific projects INTERGENERATIONAL EXCHANGES Mission • The wellbeing and dignity of all persons regardless of age, sex, race, social or economic status, physical or mental condition. • Person-centred care • High quality education, family, parenting and carer support • Exchange of ideas and experiences • Intergenerational solidarity • Promoting Active Aging • Strengthen the bridge that links our stuctures and develops a lasting and growing partnership with the local community. THE PARTICIPANTS • The aged of our local community • Guests of the nursing home • Our children’s grandparents Anyone can join us regardless of family, gender, age or physical or mental condition • • • • The infants in the nursery The children from the kindergarden Older siblings who attend the local school The children and families of our not so young helpers Lunch with the grandparents in the nursing home Other activities Special lunches with grandparents, at school Theatrical activities Gardening The celebration of the most important festivities The chestnut party Various activities in the wood All the above, facilitate a positive, serene, constructive exchange between the main participants and in so doing this special relation improves the SENSE OF WELLBEING and SELF ESTEEM in the aged, who feel needed, and able to give help and support to the children and families. The children have the feeling of a comforting companion by their side in their discoveries . Families benefit from the person centred activities that are only possible with the help and support of older carers and qualified staff, all working together in a nurturing environment. An environment founded on the values of solidarity and respect.
