Stefania Bonfadelli was born in Verona, she started as child to play piano, with 14 years she
began to study singing, later on she continued at the Conservatory of Mantoa, she won the
voice competition „Mattia Battistini“ and made her opera debut in Rieti as Lucia and Gilda.
Her first contracts brought her to Basel, Dijon, Helsinki, Stockholm, Philadelphia, Buenos
Aires, Bordeaux as Manon, Adina, Lucia, Giovanna d’Arco, Violetta, Olympia.
She auditioned at Staatsoper Vienna and got engaged to sing the following day “Puritani”,
since then she has sung there the new productions of “Sonnambula” and “Romeo et Juliette”,
Despina with Mo. Muti and Mo. Ozawa as well as Traviata, Gilda, Lucia, Olympia, Rosina.
Her international career brought her to theatres like Monte Carlo, Staatsoper Hamburg,
Santiago de Chile, Detroit, Marseille, Bordeaux, Tel Aviv, Frankfurt.
She sang in almost all important Italian theatres like Naples, Bergamo, Cagliari, Palermo,
Catania, Pesaro, Turin, Bologna, Trieste new productions of “Traviata”, ”Sonnambula”,
”Lucia”, “Manon”, “Don Pasquale”, “Comte Ory”, “La Gazetta”, “Elisir d’amore”, she made
her Scala Milano debut in „Dialogues des Carmelites“ (Mo. Muti) with new contract for
“Sonnambula”.
She sang in Munich Traviata with Mo. Mehta and “Romeo et Juliette”, in Berlin Lucia and
Traviata, in Tokyo Marie in “Fille du régiment” and Amina in “Sonnambula”, in Covent
Garden Traviata, in Hamburg Gilda and Traviata, in Zurich Traviata and Lucia, in
Frankfurt Gilda and Traviata, in Detroit Manon, in Liège Elvira in “Puritani” and Lucia, in
Washington “Fille du régiment”, in Avignon “Viaggio a Reims” and Lucia, in Amsterdam
Traviata, in Santiago de Chile Rosina.
Due to health reasons and also her pregnancy Ms. Bonfadelli had to stop her career for some
time.
She was heard in the farewell concert of Mr. Holender at Staatsoper Vienna with big personal
success as Linda di Chamounix, other contracts include “Viaggio a Reims” in Tel Aviv,
“Signor Bruschino” in Bad Wildbad, “Sonnambula” in Irun/San Sebastian, a Verdi concert
in Naples, “Mozart Requiem” and Gilda in Verona, Traviata in Taormina, “Convenienze ed
inconvenienze teatrali” in Catania with new contract as Countess in “Nozze di Figaro".
Last contracts till 2017 include "Crispino e la Comare" in Martina Franca, "Matrimonio
segreto" in Novara, "Fledermaus" Rosalinde in Catania, Adina in Cyprus, concerts in St.
Petersburg, "Matrimonio segreto" in Cosenza, "Traviata" and Verdi Requiem in Beijing,
Gilda in Seoul, concerts in Brasile, Donna Anna in Trapani and "Viaggio a Reims" in
Novara.
Ms. Bonfadelli can be heard on CD productions of “Traviata”, “Puritani”, “La Gazetta” as
well as on the CD of a gala concert from Staatsoper Vienna ( with Netrebko, Damrau, Frittoli,
Domingo, Vargas, Hampson, Furlanetto).
