Terlano - Connoisseur Wines
cantina Terlano A lt o Adige Rudi Kofler winemaker With a mild Mediterranean-type microclimate imparting unique viticultural character, the South Tyrolean province of Terlano can boast vinegrowing and winemaking traditions dating back more than 2,000 years. Located in Alto Adige’s Dolomite Mountains, in the foothills of the Alps, Terlano’s distinctive site and extraordinary terroir are the key to these stunning wines. Situated in a sheltered hollow, Terlano benefits from ideal southern exposure. Slopes ranging from 820–3,000 feet ASL allow for the prime cultivation of many indigenous grapes. Vineyards composed of red porphyric rocks with high mineral content accumulate each day’s warmth, taking the edge off cool evening temperatures, while porous soils allow for optimum drainage. To insure high viticultural standards, Terlano compensates growers according to grape quality, not quantity, placing vineyard emphasis on reducing yields to ensure concentrated fruit. “To say that an Italian cooperative winery produces some of the best white wines in its region, if not the whole of the country, may raise an eyebrow or two. But having recently blind-tasted the white wines of Cantina Terlano, from the Alto Adige region in Italy’s northeast, I have no doubt that this is the case.” – James Suckling Pinot Grigio Pinot Bianco Pinot Bianco Riserva “Vorberg Vineyard” Weissburgunder Classico (Pinot Bianco) Gewürztraminer Gewürztraminer “Lunare” Sauvignon “Winkl Vineyard” Sauvignon “Quarz” Müller-Thurgau Chardonnay Chardonnay “Kreuth Vineyard” Terlaner Classico Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Nova Domus Terlaner Riserva Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon “I” Grand Cuvée Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Lagrein Rosé Pinot Nero/Noir Pinot Nero/Noir Riserva “Montigl” St. Magdalener “Hausler” Schiava and Lagrein Lagrein Riserva “Gries Vineyard” Lagrein Riserva “Porphyr” Thank you for your time and for your interest in Connoisseur wines.
