Job description: This project will study the potential of Trentino foods to improve
human health. Whole plant foods, certain dairy products and probiotics are emerging
as components of a healthy diet, but as yet, much debate remains concerning their
mode of action. Considering recent studies convincingly showing the important
contribution of the intestinal microbiome to human health and disease risk, this
project will investigate how certain foods may modulate both the composition and
activity of the human gut microbiota. Moreover, the study aims to design specific
“functional foods” with tailored activity to stimulate the metabolic activity of
beneficial microorganisms within the human microbiome. Duties: The post holder
will provide molecular microbiological support for studies examining the ability of
whole plant foods or their derivatives, certain dairy products and probiotics, to
modulate the composition and activity of the human gut microbiota. Using samples
collected from human dietary interventions and in vitro models of the human gut
microbiota, the successful applicant will apply a range of molecular microbiological
tools, including but not restricted to FISH, qPCR, ARISA and 16S rRNA targeted
next generation sequencing, to characterise the human gut microbiota. The candidate
will also assess the biotechnological potential of putative probiotic strains and their

Descrizione
A postdoc position is available in the Chemical Ecology unit, Sustainable Agro-Ecosystems and
Bioresources department of the Research and Innovation Centre. The successful candidate will
work on genomics and evolution of two insects (hemipterans C. melanoneura and C. picta) which
are the main vectors of the “apple proliferation”, phytoplasma causing illness in the apple trees.
Successful candidate will apply bioinformatics tools to get new insights in the biology and ecology
of these insect vectors. DUTIES: Initial tasks will be to assemble and analyse the draft genomes
and transcriptomes of C. melanoneura and C. picta the two putative psyllid vectors of the apple
proliferation Candidatus Phytoplasma mali. Sequencing will be done on individuals sampled from
Trentino populations, and may be extended to other unknown hosts of the phytoplasma. The
draft genome of the carried phytoplasmas, and those of likely endosymbionts such as Wolbachia,
will be extracted and compared to available ones. The main duty will be to undertake
comparative genomic studies (between the two psyllids and against other hemipterans) aimed at
highlighting some of the differences between the two hosts focusing on: their evolutionary
history, their evolutionary genetics, and their repertoire of chemosensory genes used to sense
apple trees. The postdoc will join a large interdepartmental project involving various researchers
and students (including entomologists, molecular evolutionists, bioinformaticians, microbiologists)
whose final goal is to disentangle the biology of the vector-phytoplasma-host biology. One of the
objective is to find which are the phytoplasma host (vectors and plants) during the winter cycle,
characterise their biology and eventually defining species specific field trapping. The successful
candidate is expected to actively interact with the other members of the hosting lab (Chemical
Ecology) as well as other member of project, help planning research, propose his/her idea, and
help (or guide, depending on his/her attitude) in article preparation. Applicants must be an
enthusiast postdoc with previous expertise in comparative genomics/transcriptomics using nextgeneration sequencing data and bioinformatics tools. Unix environment and some programming
is required. The position is available for two years. REQUIREMENTS: PhD in Bioinformatics, Plant
Science, Agricultural Sciences, Genomics, Evolution, Biology, Entomology, Zoology. Experience in
the scientific themes of the project. Fluent in spoken and written English (C1). IT knowledge:
Unix/Linux environment, Python Perl or other programming, analysis of next-generation
sequencing data. • Independent and self-motivated attitude • Strong teamwork ability • Capable

Information about the position: We are looking for 4 Senior NDT inspectors in fulltime permanent possition for our
department in Sarpsborg, Stokke, Bergen and Rogaland
Position demands: The applicant must have certificates according to the EN- 473, ISO 9712 standard. Methods: RT/
UT. It’s an advantage if the applicants speak a Scandinavian language. As the position is permanent all employers must
relocate in Norway.
Wages: NOK 400.000 – 480.000 (app. EURO 49.192- 59.030) gross pr. year, depending on experience and
qualifications. Private use of telephone included (NOK 1200 per month). Norwegian language classes will be offered.
Housing: Inspecta will help to find temporary housing for 3- 6 month
Family: The employer will assist you if you bring your family. It is important that the whole family settles in a good
way. We assist you to find good school/ kindergarden for your children. Inspecta assist you to understand the
Norwegian tax system and other public systems.
