La ghisa è una lega ferrosa contenente oltre l’1,7% di
carbonio che durante la solidificazione si separa dalla massa
metallica e rimane presente come grafite uniformemente
dispersa. Le caratteristiche fisiche meccaniche della ghisa
possono essere notevolmente variabili in funzione della
presenza più o meno elevata di altri elementi e della struttura
metallografica risultante.

Ghisa Lamellare
Nella ghisa lamellare o ghisa grigia, la grafite si presenta
sotto forma di lamelle; da ciò deriva il nome metallurgico
di “ghisa a grafite lamellare’’. Questa lega presenta buone

caratteristiche di resistenza alla rottura, indeformabilità,
elevata capacità di assorbimento delle vibrazioni ed una
notevole resistenza all’usura e alla corrosione. L’impiego
della ghisa lamellare per la produzione di chiusini e griglie,

La norma EN124 prevede che i prodotti certificati riportino
obbligatoriamente marcature comprovanti la conformità
alle esigenze di normativa, di produzione, distribuzione e
impresa come da seguente dettaglio:
consente di ottenere manufatti con un buon rapporto tra

Grey iron / Cast iron
In the grey cast iron, a large part or all of the carbon is in the
form of flakes. This alloy combines good tensile strength,
low deformation, high capacity to damp vibrations and
an excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. The use
of grey cast iron in the production of access covers and
gully gratings enables the manufacturing of good quality
products in comparison with their high stability, weight and
load resistance; avoiding, in the same time, gaskets and
locking devices.
Spheroidal graphite cast iron / Ductile
iron
In the spheroidal graphite cast iron, better known as
Ductile Iron (D.I.), the graphite is in the form of spheroidal
particles, obtained by adding 0.05 weight % of magnesium.
In addition to the standard qualities of the grey iron, this
alloy improves certain mechanical characteristics such as
tensile strength, elongation, shock resistance and elastic
strength. The crystallization of the graphite in spheroids can
limit possible cracks due to excessive load concentration,
avoiding the propagation of breaking lines occasional in the
grey cast iron. The mechanical characteristics of manhole
covers and gully gratings made in ductile iron enable the
manufacturing of lighter products improving the handling,
installation and maintenance operations, in accordance with
the latest EU requirements and provisions for the safety at
work.
