The data breach disclosed in March by security firm RSA received worldwide attention because it highlighted the challenges that organizations
face in detecting and blocking intrusions from targeted cyber attacks. The subtext of the story was that if this could happen to one of the largest
and most integral security firms, what hope was there for organizations that aren’t focused on security?
Security experts have said that RSA wasn’t the only corporation victimized in the attack, and that dozens of other multinational companies
were infiltrated using many of the same tools and Internet infrastructure. But so far, no one has been willing to talk publicly about which other
companies may have been hit. Today’s post features a never-before-published list of those victim organizations. The information suggests that
more than 760 other organizations had networks that were compromised with some of the same resources used to hit RSA. Almost 20 percent
of the current Fortune 100 companies are on this list.
Since the RSA incident was disclosed, lawmakers in the U.S. Congress have taken a renewed interest in so-called “advanced persistent threat”
or APT attacks. Some of the industry’s top security experts have been summoned to Capitol Hill to brief lawmakers and staff about the extent of
the damage. The information below was shared with congressional staff.
Below is a list of companies whose networks were shown to have been phoning home to some of the same control infrastructure that was used
in the attack on RSA. The first victims appear to have begun communicating with the attacker’s control networks as early as November 2010.
A few caveats are in order here. First, many of the network owners listed are Internet service providers, and are likely included because some
of their subscribers were hit. Second, it is not clear how many systems in each of these companies or networks were compromised, for how
long those intrusions persisted, or whether the attackers successfully stole sensitive information from all of the victims. Finally, some of these
organizations (there are several antivirus firms mentioned below) may be represented because they intentionally compromised internal systems
in an effort to reverse engineer malware used in these attacks.
Among the more interesting names on the list are Abbott Labs, the Alabama Supercomputer Network, Charles Schwabb & Co., Cisco Systems,
eBay, the European Space Agency, Facebook, Freddie Mac, Google, the General Services Administration, the Inter-American Development
Bank, IBM, Intel Corp., the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Motorola Inc., Northrop Grumman,
Novell, Perot Systems, PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, Research in Motion (RIM) Ltd., Seagate Technology, Thomson Financial, Unisys Corp.,
USAA, Verisign, VMWare, Wachovia Corp., and Wells Fargo & Co.
At the end of the victim list is a pie chart that shows the geographic distribution of the command and control networks used to coordinate the
attacks. The chart indicates that the overwhelming majority of the C&Cs are located in or around Beijing, China.

La molibdenite ha straordinarie proprietà che la renderebbero migliore del silicio e del grafene per le applicazioni in elettronica. L'impiego della
molibdenite permetterà forse in futuro di realizzare celle solari flessibili più efficienti, dispositivi elettronici e microprocessori capaci di elevate
prestazioni a fronte di un ridotto consumo energetico.
La molibdenite è un minerale le cui applicazioni sono state ben lontane dall'elettronica, almeno fino ad oggi, infatti i ricercatori dell'École
Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) hanno pubblicato uno studio sulla rivista Nature Nanotechnology in cui vengono riportate le
straordinarie proprietà del minerale quando viene impiegato in strati bidimensionali dello spessore di un atomo.
I ricercatori del Laboratory of Nanoscale Electronics and Structures (LANES) hanno dimostrato che gli strati bidimensionali di molibdenite hanno
proprietà elettriche e ottiche decisamente migliori rispetto a quelle offerte dal minerale nelle sue forme tridimensionali.
Il silicio viene impiegato in forma tridimensionale mentre la molibdenite in strati bidimensionali, meno voluminosi.
In stanby i transistors in molibdenite consumano 100 mila volte meno energia rispetto a quelli in silicio. Dispositivi più piccoli e più efficienti dal
punto di vista energetico è questa l'idea dei ricercatori svizzeri che hanno usato la molibdenite per mettere a punto transistors con un approccio
simile a quello impiegato nei primi stadi della ricerca sul grafene.
Gli scienziati hanno ottenuto sottilissimi fogli che hanno poi adagiato su un substrato e coperto con uno strato isolante. Con questa base hanno
realizzato transistors che mostrano una mobilità elettrica comparabile a quella dei transistors realizzati con il grafene.
La mobilità elettrica è la capacità delle particelle cariche di muoversi in un solvente in risposta ad un campo elettrico.
Dopo l'introduzione dei dispositivi a grafene nel 2004 da parte di Andre Geim e Kostya Novoselov che hanno vinto per questo il Premio Nobel
per la fisica nel 2010, la ricerca su nuovi materiali capaci di elevate prestazioni in elettronica è decisamente aumentata. Tra i numerosi test
effettuati impiegando materiali in forma bidimensionale è risultata promettente la molibdenite. Prima di poter pensare alle applicazioni del
nuovo materiale serviranno certamente ulteriori studi per capire nel dettaglio le reali potenzialità di questo minerale, ad esempio gli scienziati
devono ancora dimostrare la capacità di amplificare i segnali elettrici, ma i ricercatori ripongono molta fiducia nella molibdenite per rivoluzionare
i dispositivi elettronici nel prossimo futuro.
Se il grafene, individuato come materiale capace di sostituire il silicio all'interno dei microprocessori, non risulta adatto a causa delle grandi
difficoltà che si incontrano per farlo diventare un semiconduttore e quindi è più probabile che venga impiegato in altri tipi di circuiti come ad
esempio quelli usati nel campo delle telecomunicazioni, la molibdenite potrà forse rivelarsi il materiale adatto per ottenere microprocessori ad
elevate prestazioni.
Gli scienziati iniziano a progettare altri possibili usi per la molibdenite come celle solari flessibili e dispositivi elettronici flessibili che ad oggi
usano polimeri meno stabili di quanto promette di essere la molibdenite.
La molibdenite è un semiconduttore dotato di band gap (gap di 1.8 elettron-volt), si tratta di una caratteristica importante per un materiale
impiegato nei transistors digitali. Il grafene ad esempio non ha una band gap pertanto i ricercatori devono realizzare e usare nastri di questo
materiale, ma il procedimento risulta complesso e può portare all'alterazione di altre importanti proprietà del materiale.
La band gap è un intervallo di energia interdetto agli elettroni. Nei semiconduttori gli elettroni si trovano in bande di energia, la band gap è un

Nella seduta di Consiglio Comunale tenutasi ieri, 24 ottobre 2011, ha inizialmente tenuto banco la questione del moltiplicatore. Il gruppo PLR in
seno al Legislativo ha infatti proposto un emendamento proponente l’abbassamento al 59% del moltiplicatore per l’anno 2011. L’emendamento
PLR è stato presentato al Consiglio Comunale immediatamente prima della seduta stessa, quando il messaggio in questione (2011-26 per la
fissazione del moltiplicatore per l’anno 2011) era già stato oggetto di un rapporto da parte della designata Commissione della Gestione, che
approvava la proposta del Municipio (moltiplicatore 62.5%). La Commissione stessa, vista la delicatezza del tema (in ballo vi è l’ammontare
di raccolta per mezzo imposta del nostro Comune…), ha preferito riunirsi brevemente e lo stesso a fatto l’Esecutivo comunale. Perciò, dopo
pochi minuti di seduta, la Presidente ha decretato un’interruzione volta proprio a permttere ai due consessi di riunirsi. Per il moltiplicatore, infine,
fumata nera da parte del Municipio che ritira il messaggio per ulteriori approfondimenti in seguito alle motivazioni addotte dal gruppo PLR in CC.
La seduta del Legislativo è poi continuata senza grandi intoppi, concludendosi con le risposte del Municipio ad alcune interessanti interpellanze
di cui una presentata dal CC USI Ivan Fior (vedi qui: Interpellanza Fior) inerente allo sviluppo dello scalo luganese “Lugano Airport” ed alle
sue presunte mire di estensione verso il territorio del Comune di Bioggio. Un’altra, del CC PPD Marco Poretti, riguardava invece l’annoso
problema dei rifiuti, che pare il Municipio voglia risolvere entro la fine dell’attuale Legislatura. Come si suol dire, affaire a suivre… Per ora è tutto,

Утечка данных, публично признанная в марте компанией RSA, привлекла к себе столь широкое внимание потому, что она ярко
проиллюстрировала масштаб проблем, с которыми сталкиваются организации, имеющие дело с обнаружением и блокированием
направленных на них кибер-атак. Подтекст этой истории заключается в следующем: если это случилось с одной из крупнейших фирм,
специализирующих на безопасности, то на что могут рассчитывать обычные компании?
Эксперты по безопасности говорят, что RSA была не единственной корпорацией, пострадавшей от этой атаки, и что несколько дюжин
других международных компаний подверглись инфильтрации с использованием, во многом, того же самого инструментария и той же
сетевой инфраструктуры. Но пока что никто не выразил желания публично говорить о том, какие еще компании могли быть затронуты.
В сегодняшнем посте содержится никогда ранее не публиковавшийся список организаций, ставших жертвами атаки. Эта информация
позволяет предположить, что сети более 760 других организаций были скомпрометированы с использованием те же ресурсов, которые
применялись в атаке на RSA. В этот список попали 20 процентов компаний из списка «Fortune 100».
Поскольку инцидент с RSA был публично раскрыт, законодатели Конгресса США вновь проявили интерес к так называемым APTатакам (APT - Advanced Persistent Threat - «постоянная угроза повышенной сложности»). Несколько крупнейших в отрасли экспертов
были вызваны на Капитолийский холм для дачи разъяснений по этому поводу. Информация, приведенная ниже, была передана
сотрудникам Конгресса.
Ниже приведен список компаний, чьи сети вышли на связь с той же самой командной инфраструктурой, которая использовалась в
атаке на RSA. Самые первые жертвы начали связываться к командными сетями атакующей стороны, по видимому, еще в ноябре 2010
года.
Тут необходимо сделать несколько оговорок. Во-первых, многие из перечисленных здесь сетей являются Internet-провайдерами и
попали в список потому, что атакован был кто-то из их клиентов. Во-вторых, из списка не явствует, сколько конкретно систем было

Who Else Was Hit by the RSA Attackers?

The data breach disclosed in March by security firm RSA received worldwide attention because it highlighted the challenges that organizations
face in detecting and blocking intrusions from targeted cyber attacks. The subtext of the story was that if this could happen to one of the largest
and most integral security firms, what hope was there for organizations that aren’t focused on security?
Security experts have said that RSA wasn’t the only corporation victimized in the attack, and that dozens of other multinational companies
were infiltrated using many of the same tools and Internet infrastructure. But so far, no one has been willing to talk publicly about which other
companies may have been hit. Today’s post features a never-before-published list of those victim organizations. The information suggests that
more than 760 other organizations had networks that were compromised with some of the same resources used to hit RSA. Almost 20 percent
of the current Fortune 100 companies are on this list.
Since the RSA incident was disclosed, lawmakers in the U.S. Congress have taken a renewed interest in so-called “advanced persistent threat”
or APT attacks. Some of the industry’s top security experts have been summoned to Capitol Hill to brief lawmakers and staff about the extent of
the damage. The information below was shared with congressional staff.
Below is a list of companies whose networks were shown to have been phoning home to some of the same control infrastructure that was used
in the attack on RSA. The first victims appear to have begun communicating with the attacker’s control networks as early as November 2010.
A few caveats are in order here. First, many of the network owners listed are Internet service providers, and are likely included because some
of their subscribers were hit. Second, it is not clear how many systems in each of these companies or networks were compromised, for how
long those intrusions persisted, or whether the attackers successfully stole sensitive information from all of the victims. Finally, some of these
organizations (there are several antivirus firms mentioned below) may be represented because they intentionally compromised internal systems
in an effort to reverse engineer malware used in these attacks.
Among the more interesting names on the list are Abbott Labs, the Alabama Supercomputer Network, Charles Schwabb & Co., Cisco Systems,
eBay, the European Space Agency, Facebook, Freddie Mac, Google, the General Services Administration, the Inter-American Development
Bank, IBM, Intel Corp., the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Motorola Inc., Northrop Grumman,
Novell, Perot Systems, PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, Research in Motion (RIM) Ltd., Seagate Technology, Thomson Financial, Unisys Corp.,
USAA, Verisign, VMWare, Wachovia Corp., and Wells Fargo & Co.

level and ultimately beyond. Continuing the mission of the first three AGI conferences (most recently AGI- 10, held at the University of Lugano,

Brand risk is a key threat to a company's license to do business, as Nike, Toyota, BP and Domino's Pizza have learned to their cost in recent
years. How well they have been able to protect and detoxify their brands has in large part depended on the way senior managers have fought
back.
The importance of the role of the chief executive in repairing brand damage is growing. Robert Phillips, head of Europe, the Middle East and
Africa for Edelman, the public-relations firm, says: "Senior executives need to understand there has been a fundamental shift from accountability
to shareholders towards accountability to stakeholders. CEOs have to understand their stakeholder universe."
If a company's brand is its license to do business, it is its stakeholders who grant it that license to trade. These days a company's stakeholders
are more than just its shareholders, investors and customers. The power of the internet and social media channels such as Facebook and
Twitter mean employees, non-governmental organizations, trade unions and regulators have far more power to damage a brand if they want to.
Determinedly Contrite
When things go wrong it is to these stakeholders that communications have to be targeted, starting with an unreserved apology. That apology
is crucial, and must balance contrition with a determination to get to the root of the problem and make it right. It must also be delivered in a tone
that will be appreciated by those affected by what has gone wrong.

BP's handling of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is often cited as a public-relations disaster from start to finish. Downplaying
the seriousness of the spill as events spiralled meant BP was always chasing the story as ever worse details emerged. To cap it all, when
former BP CEO Tony Hayward told journalists "I would like my life back," his apparent lack of empathy left the U.S. public in disbelief.
Tony Langham, chief executive of Lansons Communications, a London-based public-relations firm says: "BP simply didn't sound sorry
enough early enough. And then with BP already being called 'British Petroleum,' fronting their campaign in Louisiana with a Brit certainly
didn't help." Hayward's apparent lack of empathy with the victims of the BP disaster demonstrates the importance of getting the tone of crisis
communications right, says Sally Costerton, chairman and CEO of Europe Hill & Knowlton. Ms. Costerton says: "Hypocrisy is a danger when
delivering sensitive messages, as was shown when the heads of U.S. motor companies flew to Washington by private jet at the height of the
financial crisis to ask for public cash to prop up their companies."

But when they get it right, senior management can make a positive impact in brand damage limitation. Domino's Pizza president Patrick Doyle
didn't wait for the media to call him when a prank video was posted on YouTube showing staff seemingly distastefully tampering with food
apparently destined for public consumption. Instead he posted a video of his own, apologizing for what had happened and pledging to get to the
bottom of the matter, before the story hit national media.

led to more people hearing about the food tampering video, but Tim McIntyre, vice president, communications at Domino's Pizza, says the

on their contexts, "sampling" the intellectual environment of the time to create something new. Our digital culture has fractured information and
the shards float freely in and out of attribution. Shouldn't our creative practices reflect this reality? Manifestos abound on the Web declare that
ideas "are not owned by an individual or corporation" and should therefore "be freely available as seeds for more ideas, and not bound and

-------------------------------------The success of key human activities ranging from research and business to
everyday services relies on the use of ever more sophisticated,
feature-rich and complex computer systems. These complex computer systems
are regularly required to accomplish more, faster and on a broader scale,
to adapt dynamically to changing workloads, scenarios and objectives, and
to achieve guaranteed levels of performance and dependability. Satisfying
such demanding requirements in the presence of the variability,
heterogeneity and non-linear behaviour that characterise complex computer
systems poses numerous challenges to both their developers and their
users.
The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners
and leading experts from academia and industry, to advance the state of
the art in the specification, development, validation and verification,
and management of complex computer systems.
Scope and topics:

Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, unpublished
research results, case studies and tools. Additionally, submissions of
poster papers are sought for two separate poster sessions: an "ongoing
research" poster session, and a "PhD research" poster session. Topics of
interest include but are not limited to the following aspects of complex
computer systems:

- Reverse engineering and refactoring

Different kinds of contributions are sought, including novel research,
lessons learned, experience reports, and discussions of practical problems
faced by industry and user domains. The ultimate goal is to build a rich
and comprehensive conference program that can fit the interests and needs
of different classes of attendees: professionals, researchers, managers,
and students. A program goal is to organize several sessions that include
both academic and industrial papers on a given topic, and culminate with
panels to discuss relationships between industrial and academic research.
Full papers are divided into two categories: Technical Papers and
Experience Reports. The papers submitted to both categories will be
reviewed by program committee members, and papers accepted in either
category will be published in the conference proceedings. Technical papers
should describe original research, and experience reports should present
practical projects carried out in industry, and reflect on the lessons
learnt from them.
Poster paper submissions should specify in their abstract whether they
describe ongoing or PhD research. Both types of poster papers will be
reviewed by program committee members, and accepted posters will be
published in the conference proceedings

Dayak head ornaments at the Museum of Lugano Switzerland

Dayak head ornaments at the Museum of Lugano Switzerland. Lugano Museo delle Culture Museum in Lugano in collaboration with local
governments of Central Kalimantan Province held an exhibition titled Sapuyung exhibiting a collection of Dayak Ngaju headdress. Five-month
exhibition will end on February 26, 2012 show at the museum Sapuyung widely regarded as paying attention and concern about the extinction
of a cultural icon and a collection of other liturgical objects from indigenous Dayak, says First Secretary Embassy of Indonesia in Bern, Oktavia
Maludin. Visitors can also see the collection of artifacts of Papua, Nias, Batak and Toraja permanently exhibited by the museum. Sapuyung is
the headdress typical of Central Kalimantan, which is used in religious ceremonies Ngaju Dayak communities that occupy the village on the
banks of the River Telangkah Katingan Kaharingan trust and embrace. Sapuyung not function only as a complementary fashion, but also a
cultural icon and symbol of the wealth of Central Kalimantan. Sapuyung made of woven bamboo decorated with motifs depicting gods and the
essential elements of nature. Jobs can only be done by older women in society. The exhibition was opened by Governor Arch Dipl Lugano. ETH
G. Giudici and was attended by academics from several other European countries, students of the Faculty of Anthropology of the University
of Lugano, and residents who have been attracted to the distinctive culture of Borneo since 2007 when the exhibition was first implemented.
Lugano Cultural Museum is located right on the shores of Lake Lugano. The exhibition is divided into three sections: the first room is dedicated
to the weavers Sapuyung, a second room for the priests and religious leaders Kaharingan, while the third room, located in the center is a place
where the weavers and religious leaders united in a religious ceremony. According to Museum Director Francesco Paolo Campione, during
the last five years the museum has been engaged in research on the culture of Borneo and has made a stunning art collection. Supported by

Creating Dramas of Context, Communities of Interest: Using New Media for Interpretation at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
Abstract: Art museums are magnetic destinations for tourists, locals, art lovers and laymen. Yet often once people are inside the museum, they
are bewildered by what they see, and feel unprepared for their experience. How can new technologies help bridge the gap between the artist’s
world and their own, making the values of a distant era, remote location, or unique sensibility co-present with the viewer’s gaze? Selected
strategies developed by SFMOMA’s Interactive Educational Technologies team will be presented.
Bio:
Peter Samis is Associate Curator of Interpretative Media at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). In the early 1990s, he
served as art historian/content expert for the first CD-ROM on modern art, and then spearheaded development of multimedia programs for
SFMOMA’s new building. Points of Departure, the Museum’s 2001 exhibition that experimented with the integration of new technologies directly
alongside the art in the SFMOMA galleries, introduced mobile multimedia devices into the galleries for the first time; it was awarded AAM’s
Gold Muse Award for best use of new technologies in an art museum setting. In 2006, SFMOMA won three more Muse Awards–one of them for
the Museum’s podcast series, “SFMOMA Artcasts,” which also won “Best of the Web” in Museums & the Web’s Innovative and Experimental
category. Since that time, SFMOMA’s IET team has partnered with NOUSguide and Earprint to develop and deploy Making Sense of Modern
Art Mobile, a multimedia guide to the permanent collection offered free to museum visitors on the iPod Touch.
Samis holds a BA in Religion from Columbia College in New York, and an MA in the History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley.

Hi Cyril! Well, at USI most people do speak English, as many master degree courses are taught in this language. There's plenty of activities that
USI students can enjoy - including sports. Many of these activities are free for USI students others will be at reduced fees. there's also plenty of
gyms in Lugano and playing fields (where you can play football, basketball and so on).

Founded in 1996, the Università della Svizzera italiana is a member of the Swiss university system, together with the nine other cantonal
universities and the Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne. It is the only Italian-speaking university in Switzerland and

It was during one of these sunny days ending Spring, on the 7th of October 2011 at The Auditorium of the Bellville Campus of the Cape
Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT); the MELISSA project (Measuring E-Learning Impact in primary Schools in South African
disadvantaged areas) was having an event closing a year of research work. Cape Town school teachers who took part in the project were
acknowledged for their achievements made during the whole process. For the occasion, Prof. Lorenzo Cantoni from the Università della
Svizzera italiana (University of Lugano, Switzerland) was visiting the country and shared his depth on the meanings, importance and benefits of
eLearning for individuals, their communities, educational institutions and teachers. In addition, Madame Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, eLearning
researcher and former deputy president of the Republic of South Africa attended the event and shared with the audience her experience

conducting empirical research in various places including Kwazulu Natal and Eastern Cape. Prof. Cantoni Madame Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka
Prof. Chigona Leading researchers in the MELISSA project, Professor Wallace Chigona of UCT, and Professor Andy Bytheway of CPUT
chaired the session. Prof. Chigona in his address pointed out the importance of the context in the spread of eLearning in Africa; while Prof.
Bytheway presented the findings unveiling unexpected outcomes including the fact that one of the major accomplishment of the project was

più all’anno per i sussidi di cassa malati? In data 3 ottobre il Consiglio di Stato ha indirizzato alle Associazioni dei Comuni ed ai sindaci dei
Comuni urbani una richiesta di incontro sul tema Preventivo cantonale 2012. Incontro previsto per l’11 ottobre, ovvero la settimana successiva
(!). Nell’ambito del Preventivo cantonale 2012 è infatti intenzione del CdS accollare maggiori oneri ai Comuni. Questo avverrebbe in alcuni
campi, tra i quali quello del finanziamento dei sussidi per il pagamento dei premi di cassa malati. Nelle intenzioni governative, a quanto pare la
legge relativa al calcolo del contributo verrebbe modificata a danno dei Comuni, ponendo ancor più l’accento sul gettito. Per quel che riguarda
Lugano si ipotizza un costo supplementare, a seguito della proposta governativa, di 5 milioni di franchi annui in più: un onere che non può
certamente essere considerato irrilevante. Va da sé che, come di consueto, anche questa volta i costi di centralità affrontati dal polo urbano,
diversamente da quel che accade in altri Cantoni, non vengono tenuti nella minima considerazione. Chiedo pertanto al lodevole Consiglio di
Stato: 1. Come si giustifica la proposta di accollare ai Comuni ulteriori ingenti costi relativi ai sussidi di Cassa malati? Per Lugano si tratterebbe
di 5 milioni annui in più – a fronte del non eclatante attivismo del CdS nell’intervenire a livello federale al fine di ottenere, per il Ticino, i doverosi
sconti per i premi 2012 (sconti che come noto non si sono concretizzati)? E’ infatti ovvio che a premi più bassi avrebbe fatto riscontro anche
una minore spesa dell’ente pubblico per i sussidi. 2. Per quanto ancora intende il CdS non affrontare, diversamente da quel che accade
in altri Cantoni (ad esempio Zurigo) la questione dei costi di centralità supportati dai Comuni polo, che irrorano (pagandoli) servizi anche a
beneficio del territorio circostanze? 3. I tempi di “consultazione” (richiesta di incontro il 3 ottobre con convocazione per la settimana successiva)
sono chiaramente inadeguati, non consentendo ai Comuni di prepararsi in maniera appropriata all’incontro con il Governo. E’ intenzione

Lunedì 10 ottobre, l’Università della Svizzera italiana ospiterà una conferenza del diplomatico austriaco Michael Reiterer, ambasciatore delegato
dell’Unione europea per la Svizzera e il Liechtenstein. La conferenza, – organizzata dal NOMES, il Nuovo movimento europeo svizzero –
avrà inizio alle 18h30 e si terrà nella sala conferenze “auditorium” dell’Università. L’ambasciatore Reiterer, che lascerà la sua funzione a fine
anno, parlerà dell’esperienza quale ambasciatore. Al suo intervento farà seguito un dibattito su “II Ticino nei rapporti fra Svizzera ed Europa”
con candidati al Consiglio degli Stati e al Consiglio Nazionale. Il Nuovo movimento europeo svizzera è favorevole all’adesione della Svizzera
all’Unione europea. Per questo sostiene e si fa promotore dei processi di avvicinamento. Notevole è stato – ad esempio – il suo impegno a

I've recently arrived to Lugano and I'm interested in new acquaintances. I'm a PhD student at the USI, making a study in computational
mathematics. Before that I was Software Engineer in Russia. I enjoy gym (couldn't find one there), playing guitar (progressive rock), and
programming. I don't speak Italian and that lead to troubles there because almost nobody speaks English.

Lage, Avaloq selbst zu betreiben. Mit der parametrisierten Standard-Lösung "B-Source Master powered by Avaloq" haben wir nun auch für sehr
kleine Institute ein kostengünstiges Angebot. Das ist ein zusätzliches Marktsegment für Avaloq. Auch die Marktentwicklung spricht für uns. Die
Assets der Banken schrumpfen und die Schweiz steht als Steueroase in Frage. Das Schweizer Offshore-Modell im Banking gibt es in dieser

SHOW (Share/OpenAccess/Worldwide) will be the first-of-its-kind event to celebrate Open Access Week in Croatia, held through October, 26 to
October 27th 2011 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences within the University Campus in Rijeka, Croatia.
The idea is to raise awareness among Croatian students about the importance of free flow of information and open access to research literature,
which is not a familiar term, by raising questions about what students are already well familiar with, i.e., intellectual property.
The students will be introduced to Copyleft movement, Creative Commons licensing, Open Projects, Open Content movement, Open Access
movement and the Right to Research Coalition action and they will be invited to join the debate about the chances for the world of open values.

Together with its partners, the Cairo Regional Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA), the Folke
Bernadotte Academy (FBA) Sweden, Zentrum für Internationalen Friedensdienst (ZIF), Germany, The Center for Crisis Management (CMC),
Finland and the African Peace Support Trainers’ Association, (APSTA), the ICT4Peace Foundation will conduct from 9 to 13 October 2011
a pilot JMAC–Crisis Information Management Course, which aims to strengthen the skills and capabilities of present and future senior level
staff of UN, African Union or other Peacekeeping and Peace-building Mission Analysis Centres, be they civilian, military or police, in collecting,
analysing, assessing and producing information for better crisis management and decision making at UN peace mission level involving a wide
range of stakeholders. It also aims at developing African capacities for peace operations. The Course will also demonstrate the opportunities
and challenges of these new ICTs and social media tools and provide some reality based simulation exercises. The Swiss Government
financially supports the contribution of ICT4Peace. Efficient and timely provision of shared situational awareness (SSA) and professional
crisis information management are essential to enable decision-making in Multi-dimensional Peace Operations and are a prerequisite for
effective action and integrated approach, founding principles of the United Nations and African Union integrated missions. Ultimately, successful
integration and coordination requires a high degree of sensitivity to the interest and operating cultures of a broad set of actors, and efficient
and appropriate Information Management (IM). For this purpose, for instance, the UN has established Joint Mission Analysis Centres (JMAC)
in peace missions that are staffed by civilian, military and police peacekeeping personnel. JMAC’s role is the provision of reliable information
to decision-makers to make accurate and appropriate decisions in crisis situations – whether humanitarian or conflict based – using openly
collected information from a variety of uniformed and civilian sources. These include modern Information and Communication Technologies
(ICTs) using social media, crisis mapping, and crowd sourcing as essential tools already used by the international community in crises. The
Folke Bernadotte Academy has carried out the Information and Intelligence Cooperation in Multifunctional International Operations Course, and
contributed to the Development of the Nordcaps United Nations Joint Mission Analysis Centres Course. The Cairo Regional Center for Training
on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA) and the ICT4Peace Foundation have cooperated in the past, in organizing Training
Programs for Multidisciplinary Integrated Missions in Africa and a Training Programme for Integrated Missions to Overcome the Lack of Shared
Situational Awareness in Peacekeeping Operations. ICT4Peace has supported the Kofi Annan International Peace-keeping Training Center
(KAIPTC) in Ghana to develop a Crisis Information Management Course and carried out a Crisis Information Management Training Course at
