DESCRIPTION
On the suggestive landscape of the Chianti hills, wine house with a castle, dating back to the Xth
century, that has been renovated and from which apartments have been obtained. It is between two
historical resort of the Chianti zone: Radda and Gaiole in Chianti. The castle dominates the farm, and
so like the others buildings of the village, enjoys of wonderful views on the chianti hills, between
woods, cypresses, olive groves and vineyards. The farm has a surface of 360 hectares, of which 75
hectares are used as vineyard for the Chianti Gallo Nero wine production and 25 hectares are used as
olive grove for olive oil production. The centre of the village is represented by the castle around
which housing units are developed. The apartments have been renovated according the typical
Tuscan farmhouse style, but keeping the native characteristics. This style melts with all mod cons of
the residence, like air-conditioning, Jacuzzi, large fireplaces and temperature control in every rooms.
On the first level of the tower of the castle a principal apartment of 356 m2 is placed to which we
access thanks to two entrances, one reachable with lift or internal staircases and the other from the
external large square of the castle. The apartments hosts a large living room in XVIth century style
with a beautiful fireplace, a kitchen with a stone fireplace, an elegant dining room, a library with

LOCATION
Before of the year 1000 some people lived in small towns on the hills around Gaiole. People who
came down downstream from Vertine, Montegrossi, S.Donato and S.Piero fed long the river
Masellone that will be Gaiole, the principal centre of the whole town.
In 1215 the birth and the development of an important street market were cause of attraction down.
After, the market was moved to a bigger square today the centre of the village. Beginning from 1300
Gaiole and its community became part of the Chianti’s League together with Radda in Chianti and
Castellina in Chianti.
Leagues were the politic administrative division made from Florence in the country area. From
league flowed to Florence soldier and money or riots during the war.
For four centuries the territory was boundary line and of battle between Florence and Siena. During
this period incursions and reciprocal sacks followed one after the other.
Gaiole was under Florence but in the XIXth century, during the short kingdom of Etruria, Napoleone
enclosed it under the Sienese Department and so it remain until today after the unity of Italy.
