It was a formal whitetie celebration and gathering that has raised funds for a variety of worthwhile charities over the years. Opening the Christmas season, the event continued its reputation as one of the most glamorous fundraisers of the winter, offering 270 guests an elegant soirée in an opulent setting. The Ballo was part of a three day weekend of events organized by the American Delegation of Savoy Orders and the Savoy Foundation. Savoy Orders’ charities are supported by the knights, dames and friends of the American Delegation of Savoy Orders, part of an international association continuing the ideals, spirit and centuries-old customs of hospitaller care honoring a thousand year history of the Royal House of Savoy. The mission of the Savoy Foundation is to continue the Savoy Orders hospitaller service by supporting medical, educational and hospice care initiatives. Each year the Ballo endeavors to build-on and continue this tradition. Its existence today connects us with our past in a socially relevant way that fosters, in the many people that support the event, a desire to help others. This year’s charity ball chose programs for underprivileged children as the main beneficiary.
