Situation Overview
Background
On August 24 at 01:36:33 UTC (3:36:33 CEST), a magnitude 6.2 earthquake, 10km deep,
occurred 10km from Norcia, Italy. source This has been followed by numerous aftershocks.
There were initial reports of serious damage in the regions of Lazio, Umbria, and Marche,
including reports of fatalities and people trapped. The Italian Red Cross had deployed
ambulances and search and rescue dogs. source
Municipalities 10km from the epicenter are Accumoli (Rieti) and Arquata del Tronto (Ascoli
