Benetti è uno dei più antichi costruttori mondiali di megayacht. Fondato a Viareggio da Lorenzo
Benetti nel 1873, il cantiere ha iniziato la sua attività costruendo imbarcazioni a vela di legno destinate
ad un uso commerciale per traffici locali ed internazionali, guadagnandosi rapidamente la fama di

Nel 1985, Azimut ha scritto una nuova pagina nella storia di Benetti. Con l’acquisto del cantiere
toscano ha dato inizio ad una nuova era di management e d’investimenti di capitali che hanno
avuto come risultato Benetti così come è oggi: un cantiere moderno e tecnologicamente avanzato,
pronto a recepire le sfide del futuro e in grado di offrire ai suoi armatori gli yacht più raffinati ed
esclusivi al mondo. Da allora Benetti si è sviluppato più di qualunque altro concorrente del segmento
realizzando oltre 130 yacht e specializzandosi nella produzione delle linee semi-custom, dai 93 ai
145 piedi, e nei mega yacht in acciaio ed alluminio, completamente custom oltre i 45 metri. Nel
2003 il Gruppo Azimut-Benetti S.p.A. rileva i Cantieri Navali Fratelli Orlando di Livorno e avvia un
importante piano industriale per la creazione di un polo specializzato nella nautica da diporto, con la
contestuale riconversione di un’area urbana ed un porto turistico. Dal 2004 Benetti è riconosciuto a
livello internazionale quale primo cantiere al mondo in termini di produzione di mega yacht.
Benetti is one of the world’s oldest builders of megayachts. Founded in Viareggio in 1873 by Lorenzo
Benetti, the shipyard started out building wooden, masted barks for local and international commercial
purposes, quickly earning its reputation as an industry leader worldwide.
In 1985, Azimut opened a new chapter in Benetti history. The purchase of the Tuscan boatyard
signalled a new era of management and capital investment that has made Benetti what it is today: a
modern, cutting-edge shipyard ready to meet the challenges of the future, able to offer its owners
the world’s most exclusive and refined yachts.
Since then, Benetti’s growth has outpaced that of any other competitor in the sector; it makes over
130 yachts and specialises in the production of semi-custom ranges from 93 to 145 feet as well as
completely custom steel and aluminium megayachts of over 45 metres. In 2003, the Azimut-Benetti
Group S.p.A. took over the Cantieri Navali Fratelli Orlando in Livorno, launching a major industrial
plan to create a facility specialised in pleasure boating alongside the revitalisation of an urban area
and tourist port. Since 2004 Benetti has been worldwide considered as the leader in mega yacht
production.
