Gauge: 28 sts = approx. 10 cm/4 in over St st using needles size
3 mm. Check your gauge to ensure success.
When working a patt with 2 clrs, it’s important to maintain the
order of yarns over your finger. Always hold the darker clr in
front throughout the whole project.
Using needles size 2½ mm and charcoal clr yarn, cast on 396 –
432 – 468 – 468 sts. Work back and forth 10 rows in Garter st.
Divide work into 22 – 24 – 26 – 26 sections, 18 sts for each
section. Change to needles size 3 mm. Cont working in rnds as
foll: *P14, inc 2 sts over next 4 sts = patt I *, rep *-* across the
rnd = 440 – 480 – 520 – 520 sts on a rnd, 20 sts for each section.
Cont working as established and P2tog both sides of each patt I
( = 44 – 48 – 52 – 52 sts dec across the rnd ), rep dec approx.
every 7 – 7 ½ – 7 ½ – 8 cm/2.8-3-3-3.1 in until 176 – 192 –
208 – 208 sts rem, and skirt measures approx. 42 – 45 – 47 – 50
cm/16.5-17.7-18.5-19.7 in. Knit 1 rnd over all sts, and dec at the
same time all purl-sts as foll: Knit first patt I st tog with purl-st,
K4, sl last st over purl-st = 132 – 144 – 156 – 156 sts on a rnd.
Place markers each side, 66 – 72 – 78 – 78 sts for both back and
front.
Leave work aside.
Apron: Using needles size 2½ mm and white yarn, cast on 80 –
80 – 96 – 96 sts. Work back and forth in patt II. When patt II is
ready, sl first and last 8 sts on holder ( = edges along sides of the
apron). Change to needles size 3 mm. Work in rnds in patt A,
and inc across 1st rnd to 65 – 65 – 81 – 81 sts ( edge sts are not
included ). Cast on 4 sts at the end of the row. Purl these new sts
each rnd ( = will be cut open later on, not included in the number
of sts). Rep patt A until work measures approx. 34 – 38 – 39 – 42
cm/13.4-15-15.4-16.5 in. Dec evenly across last rnd number of
sts to be 40 – 40 – 50 – 50 sts.
Change to white, and knit the side sts. Slip 8 sts from one side
over needles size 2½ mm. Cast on 5 new sts with white yarn to
the side facing the apron (= work in St st for seam allowance).
Work patt II over rem sts until edge measures approx. 29 – 35 –
36 – 39 cm/11.4-13.8-14.2-15.4 in. End with a complete square.
Take care that the edge doesn’t turn out too long. Bind off 5 St
sts, and slip rem 8 sts on holder. Work same for the other edge.
Finishing: Dampen pieces slightly from WS. Sew 2 smallest zig
zag seams over the purl-sts. Cut open between seams. Sew
normal zig zag over cut edges.
Sew on edges, and sew seam allowance over the cut edges.
Combine apron and skirt: Using white yarn, work St st over 5 – 8
– 6 – 6 sts. Knit tog 1 st from apron and 1 st from skirt. When all
sts from apron are knit tog with skirt, work St st over rem skirt
sts. Cont working in patt B.
When patt B is ready, beg row from mid front. Cont working
back and forth using charcoal clr yarn. Place markers each side,
33 – 36 – 39 – 39 sts for each front and 66 – 72 – 78 – 78 sts for
back. Inc for cable patt as foll: P2, inc 2 sts over next 4 sts = patt
I, P27 – 30 – 33 – 33 sts. Inc evenly across next 66-72-78-78 sts
number of sts to be 88 – 96 – 104 – 104 sts = back, and work
patt III over these sts. P27 – 30 – 33 – 33, inc 2 sts over next 4
sts = patt I, and end with P2. Cont working as established. When
work measures approx. 8 – 9 – 10 – 11 cm/3.1-3.5-4-4.3 in (
measured from patt B ), bind off 10 sts at each side ( 5 sts both
sides of the markers ). Finish each side separately.
Back : Cont working back and forth in patt III, and bind off at
each edge every 2nd row 1 – 2 – 2 – 2x3 sts, 1 – 2 – 2 – 2x2 sts,
and 2 – 1 – 1 – 1x1 st. When back measures approx. 18 – 20 – 22
– 25 cm/7.1-7.9-8.7-9.8 in ( measured from patt B ), work 1 row
over all sts, and dec all purl-sts: *K2tog, K4, sl 1 st, K1, psso*,
rep *-* across the row. Bind off.
Right front: Bind off at armhole edge every 2nd row 2x2 sts, and
1 – 1 – 2 – 2x1 st, same time bind off for V-neck: P2tog after
patt I, rep until 13 – 13 – 15 – 15 sts rem, and front measures
same as back. Last row: Dec 1 purl-st both sides of patt I same as
for patt III on back = 11 – 11 – 13 – 13 sts rem for shoulder.
Bind off.
Left front: Work same as for right front, rev all shaping .
Finishing: Sew shoulder seams.
Arm bands: Beg mid under arm, using needles size 2½ mm and
charcoal clr yarn, knit or pick up approx. 76 – 82 – 88 – 100 sts.
Work 8 rows in Garter st, and bind off 1 st beg and end off every
2nd row, altog. 3 times. Bind off.

Work 1 row in St st. Change to needles size3 mm. Inc for cable

328 sts. Work in patt I. When patt I is ready, slip first and last 16
sts over holders (front edges). Work 1 rnd in St st and dec all
purl-sts = 192 – 192 – 222 – 222 sts rem. Cast on 4 new sts at the
end of the row. Purl these new sts every rnd ( = will be cut open
later on, not included in the number of sts). Inc number of sts to
be 193 – 193 – 225 – 225 sts, and work patt C, and after that in
St st with charcoal clr yarn until work measures 35 – 38 – 41 –
45 cm/13.8-15-16.1-17.7 in.
Knit the front edges. Slip 16 sts from one holder over needles
size 3 mm. Cast on 5 new sts with charcoal clr yarn to the side
facing the cape. Work in St st over the 5 new sts (= seam
allowance). Work in patt I until front edge reaches up to the neck
edge. End cable as charted (take care that front edge doesn’t turn
to be too long). Bind off sts for seam allowance, and slip rem 16
sts on holder. Work same for the other front edge.
Finishing: Dampen the work slightly from WS. Sew 2 smallest
zig zag seam over purl-sts. Cut open between seams. Sew normal
zig zag over cut edges. Sew front edges, and seam allowance
over the cut edges.
Slip sts from holders over needles. Work 8 folds around the neck
edge as foll: Dec 4 sts over 16 sts of patt I, St st over 0-0-2-2 sts
Fold 1 (to left) : Slip next 7 – 7 – 8 – 8 sts over a dpn, and next 7
– 7 – 8 – 8 sts over another dpn. Turn 2nd dpn behind 1st dpn (WS
to WS ), turn the work behind 2nd dpn (RS to RS). Beg from
where the yarn is ( after patt I ), and knit 7 – 7 – 8 – 8 sts 3folded tog ( 1 st from main needle, 1 from 1 st and 2nd dpn = 1
fold). Make another fold same as 1st one = shoulder.
Fold 2 ( to right ) : Slip next 7 – 7 – 8 – 8 sts over a dpn, and
next 7 – 7 – 8 – 8 sts over another dpn. Turn 2nd dpn in front of
1st dpn (RS to RS), turn the work in front of 2 nd dpn (WS to WS).
Beg from where the yarn is, and knit 7 – 7 – 8 – 8 sts 3-folded
tog (1 st from main needle, 1 from 1st dpn, and 2nd dpn). Work
same for another fold.
Work St st over 25 – 25 – 29 – 29 sts ( = mid back). Work 2

Change to needles size 2 ½ mm, and work back and forth in patt

93 sts rem. When patt D is ready, purl 1 row 1 ( = folding edge).
Work 4 cm/1.6 in in St st. Bind off. Fold neck edge in double,
and sew on WS.

Seam allowance, mid front: Using needles size 2½ mm and

Work 4 rows in St st. Change to white yarn, and work as foll:
*K45, turn, P45. Turn K40, turn, P35, turn, K30, turn P25, turn,
K20, turn, P15, turn, K10, turn, P25, turn K20, turn, P20*, rep ** altog. 22 times. Unravel left-over yarn, and join unraveled and
live sts. Close the hole on top. Change to needles size 2½ mm.

neck edge. Next rnd: Cast on 4 new sts over bound-off sts. Purl
these sts every rnd (= will be cut open later on). From now on,
beg each rnd from mid front. After patt II, work in patt III. When
patt III is ready, cont working in St st with charcoal clr yarn until

Purl 1 row over all sts (= folding edge). There is now 59 – 59 –
63 – 63 – 67 – 67 - 67 sts on a row. Work patt I over 6 sts (=
buttonband), St st over 46 – 46 – 50 – 50 – 54 – 54 - 54 sts, P1
(= folding edge), and St st over 6 sts. When work measures
approx. 1 ½ – 1 ½ – 1 ½ – 1 ½ – 2 – 2 -2 cm/ 0.6-0.6-0.6-0.60.8-0.8-0.8 in, measured from folding edge, make 2 buttonholes,

½ - 1 ½ cm/2.2-1.2-1.2-0.8-1.2-0.6-0.6 in. When patt IV is
ready, cont working in St st with charcoal clr yarn until there is
51 – 55 – 61 – 67 – 67 – 79 - 83 sts on a rnd, and sleeve
measures 16 – 18 – 20 – 22 – 24 – 28 - 31 cm/6.3-7.1-7.9-8.79.4-11-12.2 in. Turn inside out, and work 6 rnds for seam
allowance. Bind off.
Finishing, cuffs: Fold in double from folding edge on WS, and
sew to 1st rnd of patt IV. Fold buttonhole band from purl st. Sew
round buttonholes. Place patt I under buttonholes, and sew
towards patt IV.
Work same for the other cuff, but in reverse.

sides of the markers every 2nd row. When neck band measures
approx. 2 – 2 – 2 – 2 – 2 ½ – 2 ½ - 2 ½ cm/0.8-0.8-0.8-0.8-1-11 in, purl 1 row from RS (= folding edge). Work same for the

Yoke: Slip all pieces over same circular needle size 3 mm. Place
sleeves over the bound-off sts = 195 – 223 – 243 – 267 – 287 –
315 sts ( 5 purl-sts are not incl. ). Place markers at each 4
seamline. Cont working in patt A ( patt B ) ( beg from arrow on
right front, and work in rev for left front ), same time beg
raglan-dec: Work until 2 sts rem before the marker, sl 1 st, K1,
psso, K2tog. Rep dec at each 4 seamline every 2 nd rnd. When
patt A is ready, cont working in St st with red (white) yarn until

Finishing: Dampen the work slightly from WS. Sew 2 smallest

zigzag over cut edges.
Left front band: Using needles size 2½ mm, pick or knit up
with navy blue (grey) yarn along left front edge approx.82 – 86 –
88 – 92 – 98 – 104 sts. Work 4 rows in St st. Bind off. Take care
that front band doesn’t turn out to be too tight. Turn work inside
out, and pick or knit up from WS approx. 82 – 86 – 88 – 92 – 98

Work same for right front band.
Hood: Beg from right front band, using needles size 2½ mm and
red (white) yarn, pick or knit up 3 st, knit st from holder, and

If you don’t want to make a hood, bind off sts now. Change to

Place a marker round mid back st. When hood measures
approx.1 cm/0.4 in ( measured after rib ), inc 1 st both sides of

Using needles size 2 ½ mm, cast on 51 – 54 – 54 – 57 – 60 sts.
Work back and forth in patt I. Change to needles size 3 mm.
Work as foll: Patt I over 6 sts, St st over 39 – 42 – 42 – 45 – 48
sts, and patt I over 6 sts. Work as established until work
measures approx. 5 – 5 – 5 – 6 – 6 cm/2-2-2-2.4-2.4 in.
Leave work aside, and knit same for another piece.
Take both pieces on same circular needle size 3 mm, and cast on
10 – 10 – 12 – 12 – 14 sts at each side between the pieces. Place
markers both sides of cast-on 10 – 10 – 12 – 12 – 14 sts.
Work in St st over all sts. After 4 rnds, beg raglan-dec: Work
until 2 sts rem before a marker, sl 1 st, K1,psso, K2tog. Rep dec

Sew 2 smallest zigzag seams inside neck band. Cut off all extras.
Sew normal zigzag over cut off edges.
Pick up from WS approx. 20 – 22 – 22 – 24 – 24 sts along the
curve of the neck edge, and work 4 rows in St st for seam
allowance. Bind off rather loosely. Sew seam allowance over cut
of edge.
Finishing : Sew on front bands, and sew on seam allowance over
cut edges on WS.
Sew on sleeves, and seam allowances over cut edges. Sew on
buttons. Weave in all ends on WS.

holder (= borders along sides ). Change to needles size 3 mm.
Work in rnds in patt A, and inc 1 st on 1 st rnd = 289 sts ( borders
not incl. ). Cast on 4 new sts to the end off row. Purl these sts
every rnd ( = to be cut open later, not incl in the number of sts).
After patt A, cont working in St st with charcoal yarn, until work
measures approx. 20 cm/7.9 in. Work in patt B, and after that in
St st with charcoal yarn, until work measures approx. 47 cm/18.5
in. Work in patt C. After patt C, work in St st with charcoal yarn

Work in patt D.
Change to grey yarn, and knit borders for sides. Slip 12 sts from

cm/41.2 in. End with a complete square. ( Take care that the
border doesn’t turn out to be too long). Bind off sts for seam
allowance, and slip rem 12 sts on holder. Work same for the
other border.

upper edge. Using needles size 2½ mm and white yarn, pick or
knit up approx. 41 – 43 – 47 – 49 – 55 – 57 sts along marked line
( check that patt is same both sides of neck edge ).
Slip shoulder sts from holders on needles. Place markers
between neck edge and shoulder sts. Beg from left shoulder,
work 1 row in St st, and then in K1,P1 rib. Inc same time 1 st
both sides of the markers every 2nd row. When rib measures
approx. 1 cm/ in, make 2 buttonholes over each shoulder
(Buttonhole: Bind off 3 sts. Next row: Cast on 3 sts over the
bound-off ones). Make first and last buttonhole 2 – 2 – 3 – 3 – 4
– 4 sts inside the edges, and the others close to the neck edge.
Cont working until rib measures approx. 2 cm/0.8 in. Bind off in

Place front rib over back rib, and sew on sleeves.
Lower edge band : Beg from back, using needles size 2½ mm
and white yarn, knit or pick up approx. 160 – 168 – 176 – 184 –
192 – 200 sts along lower edge. Place markers both sides of caston sts, front and back. Work 1 row in St st, and ten in K1,P1 rib.
Inc same time 1 st both sides of each marker every 2nd row.
After approx. 1cm/ in, make 2 buttonholes on front over 3 sts,
