ZAFFERANO nasce nel 2001 da un’idea di
Federico de Majo, la cui storia ha inizio
nella vetreria muranese di famiglia. È qui
che a metà degli anni Settanta, inizia a
dedicarsi con passione al vetro soffiato ed
artistico. Partendo così da una profonda
conoscenza dei segreti della lavorazione del
vetro, l’imprenditore e designer, dà vita a
collezioni di calici da degustazione, bicchieri
artistici, accessori per la tavola, lampade
e complementi. L’obiettivo dichiarato è di
offrire una proposta completa rivolta tanto
agli ambienti privati quanto alle strutture
destinate all’accoglienza e all’ospitalità, per
conferire all’arredo della tavola e degli interni una forte connotazione estetica.
Scelta dei materiali, funzionalità, studio
delle forme, innovative e tecniche allo stesso
tempo - come il brevetto della linea Esperienze - attestano la forte attenzione alla
progettualità e alla ricerca dei prodotti che
contraddistinguono il marchio ZAFFERANO.

come la materia che plasmano. Oggetti che
nascono da un’idea creativa, realizzati con

The story of ZAFFERANO has its beginnings
in 2001 from the long experience of Federico de Majo, businessman and designer,
who has worked in the family business on
the island of Murano, in the field of blown
and artistic glass since the Seventies.
ZAFFERANO stems from Federico de Majo’s
profound awareness of the secrets of glass
shaping and experience in the creation of
objects of design that will result in multifarious collections of wine-tasting glasses,
art glasses, tableware accessories, lighting
fixtures and decorative accessories.
The company aims at offering both the
private and hospitality environments a complete range of products, in order to provide
the table and the interior decoration with a
strong aesthetic style.
Specifically selected materials, researched
and innovative technical shapes - such as
the patented collection Esperienze - reveal a
strong focus on design and product research.

ESPERIENZE
“ Parlare dell’ideazione e della lavorazione di questi bicchieri è forse per me il piacere più grande. Ho cercato un’idea che non ripetesse la consuetudine solo
formalmente piacevole di tanti calici già esistenti. Mi venne così, seduto alla scrivania di una stanza del Morgan’s, che sta sulla Madison. Fuori pioveva, una miriade
di cerchi concentrici vibrava nello specchio delle pozzanghere: un pensiero concreto, immediato, realizzato”.
Federico de Majo.
Sono esperienze uniche quelle che si assaporano grazie a questi calici dalla estesa superficie di contatto e dalla particolare ondulazione
alla base del bevante. L’ampiezza della superficie, aumentata dalle ondulazioni, favorisce la centrifugazione, l’ossigenazione, ed il percorso
evolutivo del vino, che dall’ambiente ridotto della bottiglia, in cui è rimasto a lungo, si porta verso una condizione di perfetta bevibilità.
Queste stesse ondulazioni consentono di osservare le tonalità e i riflessi del vino senza dover inclinare il calice. La collezione Esperienze,
il cui brevetto è depositato, è disegnata da Federico de Majo, realizzata in vetro sonoro superiore e disponibile in due versioni: soffiata a
bocca e con esecuzione meccanica. Per le specifiche tecniche, oltre che estetiche, i calici Esperienze sono un apprezzato strumento per
la degustazione, frequentemente selezionati per valorizzare le eccellenze della produzione enologica internazionale e per accompagnare
prestigiose manifestazioni enogastronomiche tra le quali Vinitaly a Verona.

“To talk about the conception and rafting of these glasses – Esperienze – gives me great pleasure. I looked for an idea that did not follow the behavior
of being merely pleasant to the eye, which is the case with so many existing wine glasses. The idea came to me while I was sitting at the table in a
charming room at Morgan’s, Madison Avenue. It was raining outside, a myriad of concentric rings vibrated in the mirrors created by the puddles; a concrete,
immediate, fulfilled idea”.

It is a unique set of experiences that the taster enjoys when drinking from these glasses, with their generous surface area and rippled bowl.The
surface area in contact with wine is increased by the ripples, allowing the taster to swirl, oxygenate and develop the wine to best advantage
once freed from the restrictions imposed by the bottle, bringing it to a condition ideal for drinking. And these same ripples show up the hues
and reflections in the liquid without having to tilt the glass.
The Esperienze collection (patent pending) is designed by Federico de Majo and crafted in crystal glass and available in two version: mouth blow
and machine-made. Esperienze wine-tasting glasses are an appropriate tasting stemware appreciated by wine professionals and connoisseurs.
Designed to enhance the finest distinctive characteristics of each wine they are recommended for, and secondly, to combine excellent
technical features and functional qualities of design, the Esperienze collection has been selected by the leading international wine-tasting
events, such as Vinitaly.
