Progetti, idee, incontri, battaglie, emozioni – anche contrastanti – hanno permeato il nostro 2013: un anno che

ricorderemo per tanti momenti positivi, per le straordinarie persone che spesso abbiamo incontrato, per la
generosità di tanta gente, ma soprattutto per la gioia che abbiamo provato ogni volta che ci siamo resi conto che il
nostro supporto contribuiva, almeno in parte, a migliorare la vita e il destino di qualche bambino.

Perché, se è vero che aiutare non è facile, è anche vero che poterlo fare è una grandissima fortuna.
Così, ogni giorno, cerchiamo di sostenere situazioni che non tolgano, prima di tutto, la speranza ai bambini e ai
minori in difficoltà e che diano loro nuove prospettive di vita per crescere e imparare ad essere autonomi e portatori
di modelli positivi, anche per le generazioni successive.
Tutti i giorni, nel nostro piccolo, ci muoviamo per provare a costruire un mondo migliore, basato sull’empatia e sulla
solidarietà: una solidarietà che vede uno scambio bidirezionale dove chi dona e chi riceve non sono entità distinte
e distanti.
Concludo con una frase di Madre Teresa di Calcutta, che avevo proposto anche nel report del 2012, ma che ritengo
veramente significativa, soprattutto considerando la nostra missione: “se uno di noi, uno qualsiasi di noi esseri
umani ha fame, questa è cosa che riguarda tutti e che deve riguardare tutti, perché ignorare questa sofferenza
sarebbe un atto di violenza”.
L’augurio è che la Fondazione possa sempre fare la sua parte, nel miglior modo possibile. Una goccia forse, ma
comunque importante, perché unita a quelle delle altre persone e delle altre realtà che, come noi, credono in tutto
questo.

uring a forest fire, while all the animals were running away, a hummingbird was flying in the opposite direction,
carrying a drop of water in its beak. “What do you think you are doing?” asked a lion. “I am going to put the
fire out!” the little bird answered. “With a drop of water?” the lion asked, grinning. And the hummingbird, still flying,
answered with confidence: “I play my part!”.
I wanted to start this letter of mine, addressed to all those people who will read our report, with a short, but
effective, African fable, which uses simple words to illustrate what Fondazione Zanetti Onlus, that I have the honour
to chair, is also trying to do since 2007, to help – in synergy with many non-profit organisations – disadvantaged
minors worldwide.
Also in 2013, the main mission of the Foundation was to fight child hunger and malnutrition in the poorest countries
of the world, but we did not neglect other “fights”, for example to favour access to education, to accommodation
and psychological help and health care in general which are still essential for minors to grow healthy.

el 2013 abbiamo sostenuto in tutto 18
progetti; di questi 4 si sono sviluppati in
Italia e 14 in altri Paesi del mondo. Alcuni
progetti sono stati sostenuti totalmente,
per altri, invece, abbiamo contribuito alla
realizzazione di una parte che si è rilevata
comunque importante per il raggiungimento
dell’obiettivo generale.
Di seguito presentiamo tutti i progetti
internazionali e nazionali che abbiamo
sostenuto descrivendo brevemente l’obiettivo
principale e cos’è stato fatto, nello specifico,
con i contributi da noi erogati.

important part for the general outcome of the project.
All the international and national projects that we
supported are presented in the following pages, with
a short description of their main goal and of what was
specifically accomplished with our grants.

n 2013 we supported a total of 18 projects;
out of these, 4 were developed in Italy
and 14 in other Countries of the world.
PROGETTI INTERNAZIONALI
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
ANGOLA
Lotta alla malnutrizione infantile
attraverso il sostegno all’Ospedale
di Chiulo
Fight against child malnutrition by
supporting the Chiulo Hospital
Il Progetto ha contribuito a combattere la
malnutrizione infantile, causa strisciante della
morte di molti bambini in Angola, agendo
sulla formazione del personale sanitario,
sull’accesso ai servizi di diagnosi e cure di
qualità e sulla formazione e sensibilizzazione
della popolazione locale attraverso incontri
informativi nelle comunità per donne in
gravidanza o con figli piccoli, dimostrazioni
pratiche di preparazione di cibi nutrienti e adatti
ai bambini.
Le attività sopracitate si sono concentrate,
soprattutto, sulla cura della malnutrizione
severa nei bambini sotto i cinque anni d’età che
compromette in modo incisivo la loro capacità
di difesa ed aumenta il rischio di morte causata
da infezioni polmonari, diarrea, malaria, morbillo
e AIDS.
L’Ospedale di Chiulo, dove il progetto si è
sviluppato, è un’importante struttura sanitaria
di riferimento per la popolazione della zona che
ha un bacino di utenza di circa 5.000 bambini e
vede uno dei tassi di mortalità infantile tra i più
alti al mondo.
Il Progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’ONG
Medici Con l’Africa Cuamm di Padova con
la quale collaboriamo da tempo per diversi
progetti e attività.
The Project helped fight child malnutrition,
the creeping cause of death of many children
in Angola, providing training to healthcare
staff, access to diagnosis services and highquality treatments and training and raising the
awareness of the local population by holding
educational meetings at the communities for
pregnant women and/or mothers, hands-on
demonstrations on how to cook nutritious
food suitable for children.
The above-mentioned activities mostly focused on the
treatment of severe malnutrition in children under five which
detrimentally affects their defence systems and increases the
risk of death caused by lung infections, diarrhoea, malaria,
measles and AIDS.
The Chiulo Hospital, where the project was developed, is an
important reference healthcare facility for the local population
with as many as 5,000 young patients and one of the highest
child mortality rates worldwide.
The Project was supported through the NGO Medici Con
l’Africa Cuamm of Padua we have been long working together
with on different projects and activities.
GUINEA-BISSAU
Sviluppo del reparto di pediatria dell’Ospedale
“Raoul Follereau” di Bissau
Development of the paediatric ward of the
Hospital “Raoul Follereau” of Bissau
Questo progetto verrà sostenuto almeno fino al 2015 ed ha
come obiettivo generale quello di accrescere e migliorare
l’attività assistenziale a favore dei minori della Guinea Biassau
colpiti da malattie molto diffuse come la tubercolosi e le altre
malattie infettive, la malnutrizione, l’anemia ad essa correlata,
la malaria e l’AIDS. L’Ospedale “Raoul Follereau” è una struttura
sanitaria importante per il Paese che, come la maggior parte
dei paesi africani, è purtroppo estremamente carente di enti
specializzati per la cura delle malattie pediatriche.
Il sostegno dato nel 2013 ha permesso alla struttura d’iniziare,
con efficacia, una riorganizzazione del reparto dedicato ai
minori (che conta attualmente trenta posti letto) e ha coperto
le spese necessarie per dare ai bambini ricoverati una corretta
alimentazione indispensabile per combattere la malnutrizione
e reagire meglio alle cure somministrate. Una piccola parte
del contributo dato è servita anche per creare nell’ospedale
un’area giochi all’aperto e per rendere più accogliente e “a
misura di bambino” il reparto.
Il progetto è sostenuto attraverso l’Associazione AHEAD Onlus
di Roma che da giugno 2012, grazie ad un accordo con il
Ministero della Salute Pubblica e della Solidarietà Sociale della
Guinea Bissau, gestisce l’ospedale in stretta collaborazione
con il personale sanitario locale.
This project will be supported at least until 2015 and its
general goal is to increase and improve healthcare activities
in favour of the minors of Guinea Biassau hit by widespread
diseases like tuberculosis and other infectious diseases,
malnutrition, related amenorrhea, malaria and AIDS. Hospital
“Raoul Follereau” is an important healthcare facility for the
Country which, like most African countries, is unfortunately
lacking in specialised centres for the treatment of paediatric
illnesses.
The grants we allocated in 2013 allowed the facility to effectively
start a reorganisation of the paediatric ward (which currently
has thirty beds) and covered the necessary expenses to give
hospitalised children a healthy nutrition, essential to fight
malnutrition and respond better to treatments. A small part
of the grant was also used to create an outdoor playground
outside the hospital and to make the ward more comfortable
and “child-friendly”.
The project is supported through the Association AHEAD
Onlus of Rome which since June 2012, under an agreement
with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Solidarity of
Guinea Bissau, manages the hospital in partnership with the
local healthcare staff.
TOGO
Sostegno a distanza di duecento bambini di
Lomè e Avoutokpa
Long-distance sponsorshisp of two-hundred
children from Lom and Avoutokpa
Anche nel corso del 2013, così come nel 2012, abbiamo
sostenuto il progetto denominato “Un tesoro di bambini” che
ha visto l’adozione a distanza di circa duecento bambini sotto i
sei anni presenti in centri d’accoglienza di Lomè e Avoutokpa. Il
sostegno è servito per garantire ai bambini (nella maggior parte
dei casi figli di donne portefaix – “facchini” - che non possono
seguirli durante il giorno e hanno un bassissimo reddito)
protezione, alimentazione sana ed equilibrata, educazione
prescolare e cure sanitarie di base come, ad esempio:
vaccinazioni ed eliminazione dei parassiti intestinali. Il progetto
ha anche visto, per quanto possibile, la sensibilizzazione
delle madri dei bambini che attraverso vari incontri sono state
informate sulle norme igieniche di base, su alcuni aspetti
educativi, sui diritti dei minori e sulle malattie sessualmente
trasmissibili.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’ONG CIFA for
children di Torino.
During 2013, just as 2012, we also supported the project
“Darling children” of long-distance sponsorship of
approximately two-hundred children under six housed in
children’s homes at Lom and Avoutokpa. Our support was
used to give the children (in most cases children of portefaix –
“porter” – women who cannot look after them during the day
and have a very low income) protection, healthy and balanced
nutrition, pre-school education and basic healthcare, such
as vaccination and removal of intestinal parasites. The
project also involved, in as far as possible, raising awareness
of the children’s mothers during meetings at which they
were informed on the basic hygiene standards, educational
aspects, minors’ rights and sexually transmissible diseases.
This project was supported through the NGO CIFA for
children of Turin.

Sostegno per i minori ricoverati presso
l’Istituto del Cancro di Kiev

Costruzione di un pozzo nei pressi di una
scuola e di un dispensario di Las Hanot

dispensary of Las Hanot
Il nostro aiuto a favore dei bambini ricoverati presso l’Istituto del
Cancro di Kiev è iniziato nel 2012 ed ha avuto seguito nel 2013.
Anche in questa occasione, il contributo erogato ha garantito
la fornitura di materiale sanitario di consumo (siringhe, garze,
flebo, etc.) necessario per somministrare le terapie ai piccoli
pazienti. La fornitura è stata estremamente importante per la
salute dei bambini e per aiutare le loro famiglie che, essendo
nella maggior parte dei casi in gravi difficoltà economiche,
con molta probabilità non avrebbero potuto acquistare tale
materiale.
Il Reparto Pediatrico dell’Istituto del Cancro presenta,
purtroppo, percentuali di guarigione inferiori alla media
internazionale e quindi, anche per questo, supportare le cure
dei bambini ucraini è stato estremamente importante.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso la Fondazione
Zaporuka di Kiev.
Questo progetto ha visto la realizzazione di un pozzo profondo,
perforato con trivella e funzionante con pompa elettrica, presso
il villaggio di Las Hanot collocato a circa cento chilometri dalla
cittadina di Jijiga e a dieci chilometri dal confine con la Somalia.
Il pozzo è stato costruito per favorire l’accesso all’acqua
potabile e, di conseguenza, per migliorare le condizioni
igienico-sanitarie della popolazione locale, bambini in primis.
La costruzione del pozzo, situato non a caso vicino ad una
scuola e a un dispensario, ha visto la necessità di costruire
anche una struttura per il generatore, con stanza per il custode,
e una vera e propria rete di distribuzione idrica con cisterna e
quattro postazioni con rubinetti. Il nostro sostegno ha coperto
solo in parte tutte le spese affrontate, ma è comunque stato
importante per rispondere ad una delle necessità principali del
territorio.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’Associazione Gli
Amici di Venezia Onlus di Venezia.
Our aid in favour of children hospitalised at the Kiev Cancer
Institute started in 2012 and continued in 2013. Our grant
also helped ensure the supply of healthcare consumables
(syringes, gauzes, intravenous feeding etc.) required
to administer treatments to little patients. The supply
was especially important for the health of children and
to help their families who, being in most cases in serious
economic distress, were very unlikely to be able to buy said
consumables.
The Paediatric Ward of the Kiev Cancer Institute unfortunately
presents lower healing percentages than the international
average and, as a consequence, financially supporting the
treatments of Ukrainian children was very important.
This project was supported through the Zaporuka Foundation
of Kiev.
TANZANIA
Realizzazione di un Dipartimento Agricolo per
la Scuola Professionale di Njombe
Building of an Agricultural Department for the
Vocational School of Njombe
Il progetto in questione ha visto la costruzione di un piccolo
dipartimento agricolo per la Scuola Professionale di Njombe,
cittadina situata a sud-ovest della Tanzania. Questa scuola è
estremamente importante per i giovani più poveri della zona
che offre scarsissime opportunità di formazione mirata e di
qualità. Possono accedervi giovani che hanno completato
almeno sette anni di scuola primaria e che hanno, quindi, circa
quattordici anni di età. La scuola ha una metodologia didattica
basata su micro-imprese dove gli studenti imparano diverse
attività produttive come falegnameria, edilizia, promozione
turistica e agricoltura. Il dipartimento, che è stato costruito
anche grazie al nostro contributo, serve per preparare i giovani
a svolgere attività agricole e di allevamento.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’ONG ACRA –
CCS di Milano.
The project in question involved the construction of a small
agricultural department for the Vocational School of Njombe,
a city located South-West of Tanzania. This school is very
important for the poorer youth of the area, which offers very
little targeted and high-quality training opportunities. Youth
who have completed at least seven years of primary school
and are approximately fourteen years old may enrol. The
school’s teaching methods are based on micro enterprises
where students learn different production activities such as
woodworking, building, tourist promotion and farming. The
department was also built thanks to our grant, and it helps
train youth on farming and breeding activities.
This project was supported through the NGO ACRA – CCS
of Milan.
This project provided for the construction of a deep well,
bore-drilled and operated by electric pump, at the village of
Las Hanot located approximately one hundred kilometres
from the city of Jijiga and ten kilometres from the borders
with Somalia. The well was built to favour access of drinkable
water and, as a consequence, to improve the health and
hygiene conditions of the local population, children first. The
building of the well, intentionally located next to a school and
a dispensary, also required the construction of a housing for
the power unit, with room for the keeper, and an actual water
distribution system with tank and four positions with taps.
Our support only partly covered all the expenses incurred,
but it was still important to meet one of the main needs of
the territory.
This project was supported through the Association Gli Amici
di Venezia Onlus of Venice.
BURKINA FASO
Spedizione di un container per le famiglie di
Garango
Shipment of a container for the families of
Garango
Garango è una cittadina del Burkina Faso facente parte della
Regione del Centro-Est. Anche nel 2013, così come nel 2012,
abbiamo erogato un contributo necessario per inviare alle
famiglie di questa località un container contenente materiale
didattico, giocattoli e abbigliamento destinato, prima di tutto,
ai minori. La corretta distribuzione del materiale (raccolto da
diverse associazioni del trevigiano) è stata supervisionata in
loco dal coordinatore dell’iniziativa che ha coinvolto anche le
scuole locali e le associazioni di persone diversamente abili.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’Associazione
Educatori Africani-Italiani di Treviso.
Garango is a city of Burkina Faso which is part of the
Central-Eastern Region. In 2013, just as 2012, we allocated
a grant which was used to send the families of this location
a container containing teaching material, toys and clothing,
mostly for minors. The right distribution of the material
(collected from several associations of the Treviso area) was
locally supervised by the coordinator of the initiative which
also involved local schools and associations of people with
disabilities.
This project was supported through the Association Educatori
Africani-Italiani of Treviso.
BURKINA FASO

Farmaci e alimenti per il centro nutrizonale di
Boussè

Sostegno alla casa di prima accoglienza per
minori di Gimbi
Support to the initial reception centre for
minors of Gimbi
Come nel 2012, anche nel 2013 abbiamo sostenuto il
Centro Medico e Nutrizionale Sacro Cuore (denominato
anche C.R.E.N.: Centre de Récupération et d’Education
Nutritionnelle) di Boussè, villaggio che dista circa 35 chilometri
dalla cittadina di Nanorò. In questo centro le suore Apostole
del Sacro Cuore, coordinate da suor Noel Ouedraogo, si
prendono cura dei numerosi bambini malnutriti della zona. Il
centro è stato inaugurato nel 2007 ed è un punto di riferimento
molto importante per le mamme che, oltre a trovare qui cure
adeguate per i loro piccoli, possono anche imparare come
nutrirli correttamente con gli alimenti che hanno a disposizione.
Con il nostro contributo le suore hanno acquistato: medicine e
vitamine, latte, miglio, fagioli, olio e altri alimenti.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’Istituto Suore
Apostole Del Sacro Cuore di Boussè.
La casa di prima accoglienza di Gimbi ospita circa quaranta
bambini orfani o abbandonati dalle famiglie impossibilitate
ad accudirli e a crescerli a causa delle condizioni di estrema
povertà diffuse in quest’area. Molti sono i neonati che
vengono abbandonati dalle loro mamme e portati dalle autorità
governative e dalla polizia locale presso questa struttura nella
quale vengono accolti e accuditi dalle bambinaie. Il nostro
supporto è servito per acquistare gli arredi della struttura;
in particolare per far realizzare da artigiani locali dei lettini in
legno per i neonati e per i bambini di età pre-scolare. I lettini
per neonati possono accoglierne tre insieme e sono dotati di

In 2013, just as 2012, we supported the Medical and Nutritional
Centre of the Sacred Heart (also known as C.R.E.N.: Centre
de Récupération et d’Education Nutritionnelle) of Boussè, a
village which is approximately 35 kilometres far from the city
of Nanorò. Here, the Apostolic Sisters of the Sacred Heart,
supervised by sister Noel Ouedraogo, look after the many
local malnourished children. The centre was opened in 2007
and is a very important reference point for the mothers who,
in addition to finding the right treatments for their children,
can also learn to feed them healthily with the foods they have
available. With our grant the sisters purchased medicines
and vitamins, milk, millet, beans, oil and other foods.
This project was supported through the Institute Apostolic
Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Boussè.
The initial reception centre of Gimbi accommodates
approximately forty orphans or children abandoned by
families who are unable to care for them and bring them up
because of the conditions of extreme poverty of the area.
Many are the new-borns who are abandoned by their mothers
and carried by the governmental authorities and by the local
police to this facility where they are received and tended to
by nursemaids. Our support was used to buy the furniture of
the facility; in particular to have local craftsmen craft wooden
cots for new-borns and preschool children. The cots for newborns can accommodate three together and are equipped
with drawers to place their dresses and bed linen. All beds
were completed with mattresses, pillows, bed sheets and
spares.

Sostegno per il progetto “Costruendo dignità
per un futuro migliore” in Central ed alto Paranà
Support to the project “Building dignity for a
better future” in Central and alto Paranà
Nato per contrastare lo sfruttamento e la marginalità sociale
degli adolescenti/giovani e delle madri capo-famiglia relegati
nel settore del lavoro informale, il progetto ha sviluppato
diverse attività volte da un lato, ad incrementare la formazione
professionale e, dall’altro lato, ad avviare micro-imprese sociali.
Nel corso del 2013 sono state avviate e consolidate sei microimprese con lo scopo di aiutare adolescenti e madri ad uscire
dalla marginalità sociale. Tra le micro-imprese sociali nate grazie
al progetto, è bene ricordare quella di panetteria/pasticceria
che nello specifico è stata, in parte, sostenuta attraverso il
nostro contributo ed è seguita a livello locale dall’Associazione
Callescuela. L’impresa coinvolge sette adolescenti e due madri
capo-famiglia e vanta l’appoggio del panificio Al Pancotto di
Treviso, dal quale ha appreso come preparare nuovi prodotti
da introdurre nel mercato locale.

Established to oppose the exploitation and the social
exclusion of teenagers/youth and of breadwinning mothers
banished to the informal labour sector, the project developed
various activities which on one hand aimed at increase
vocational training and, on the other hand, at starting social
micro-enterprises. During 2013 six micro-enterprises were
established and consolidated with the purpose of helping
teenagers and mothers overcome social exclusion. Out
of the social micro-enterprises established thanks to our
project, we should mention the baker’s/pastry shop which
was partly funded through our grant and is locally supervised
by Association Callescuela. The enterprise involves seven
teenagers and two breadwinning mothers and is supported
by baker’s Al Pancotto of Treviso, from which the staff has
learned how to bake new products to introduce into the local
market.

Liluala at Pointe Noire
Padre Abel Liluala, con l’auto di sei educatori, accoglie e segue
venti bambini orfani presso la sua casa di Pointe Noire. Il nostro
supporto è servito per coprire parte delle spese che ogni giorno
devono essere affrontate per l’acquisto di cibo, materiale
scolastico e farmaci a favore degli stessi. I minori accolti sono
orfani o provengono da famiglie che, per diverse problematiche,
non possono più prendersi cura di loro. Don Abel seguirà i
bambini fino a quando non diventeranno autonomi. Per questo
motivo, ma anche perché molti altri bambini attendono di
essere accolti da lui, è in fase di costruzione, sempre a Pointe
Noire, una struttura più grande e idonea alla sua funzione di
accoglienza.

Our support was used to cover part of the expenses that
every day have to be paid to purchase food, school material
and medicines. The sheltered minors are orphans or come
from families which, for various reasons, cannot look after
them anymore. Father Abel will take care of the children
until they become self-sufficient. For this reason, but also
because many other children wait to be accommodated by
him, a larger and more suitable facility is scheduled to be
built at Pointe Noire.

Il Saint Martin è un’organizzazione che lavora a Nyahururu,
sugli altopiani del nord del Kenya, e offre un sostegno concreto
alle persone più vulnerabili all’interno delle comunità dei territori
coinvolti. Ogni anno i beneficiari sono oltre tremila: bambine
e bambini svantaggiati; vittime di abusi, violenze e ingiustizie;
persone con disabilità; persone affette da HIV o dipendenti
da alcol e droghe. Nato nel 1998, grazie all’intuizione di Don
Gabriele Pipinato, il Saint Martin promuove la solidarietà
all’interno dei territori locali coinvolgendo e formando persone
capaci di prendersi cura direttamente e gratuitamente di coloro
che hanno più bisogno. Attualmente sono più di mille i volontari
che dedicano tempo e risorse personali alle proprie comunità
di appartenenza.
Il nostro supporto ha contribuito a coprire parte delle spese
mediche e delle rette scolastiche a favore dei minori accolti e
seguiti da questa organizzazione.

Saint Martin is an organisation working in Nyahururu, on the
plateaus of Northern Kenya, and offers actual support to the
most vulnerable people from the local communities. Every
year the beneficiaries are over three thousand, including
disadvantaged girls and boys; victims of abuses, violence
and injustices; people with disabilities; HIV-positive people
or alcohol and drug addicts. Established in 1998, thanks to
the insight of Father Gabriele Pipinato, Saint Martin promotes
solidarity in local territories involving and training people to
directly and freely take care of people in need. Currently
over one thousand volunteers give their time and personal
resources to their communities of origin.
Our support helped cover part of medical expenses and
school fees of the minors sheltered and cared for by this
organisation.

Mundolobela è un villaggio vicino alla città di Livingstone, in
Zambia, dove era necessaria la costruzione di una scuola
secondaria pubblica per dare la possibilità ai ragazzi di questo
villaggio, e di altri limitrofi, di continuare a studiare anche dopo la
scuola primaria. La scuola è ancora in fase di completamento,
ma i lavori per la costruzione dei primi tre blocchi separati
sono già a buon punto e presto potranno essere utilizzati dagli
studenti. Al termine di tutti i lavori, previsti per la fine del 2015, i
blocchi scolastici saranno cinque e comprenderanno, oltre alle
aule scolastiche, i servizi igienici, un aula magna, un’infermeria
e gli uffici.
Il nostro sostegno è servito per coprire solo una parte delle
spese per questa nuova struttura scolastica, e, in particolare, è
stato utilizzato per realizzare una parte del blocco con le prime
aule scolastiche.

Laboratorio teatrale per i bambini sordi di
Tirana
Theatre-performance laboratory for deaf
children of Tirana
Nel corso del 2012 e del 2013 abbiamo sostenuto un progetto
che mirava al reinserimento sociale dei bambini sordi facenti
parte del Collegio di Tirana. Questo progetto, era parte di un
ampio programma di cooperazione che ha dato la possibilità a
molti bambini sordi di essere aiutati attraverso la protesizzazione
acustica e la successiva riabilitazione logopedica.
I nostri fondi sono serviti per sostenere un laboratorio teatrale
che ha visto, come traguardo finale, la messa in scena dello
spettacolo “Biancaneve e i sette nani”. Per la realizzazione
di questo spettacolo hanno lavorato insieme bambini sordi
e bambini normodotati coordinati da una regista, da due
assistenti registe e da una ragazza non udente. Il progetto
è stato importante per accrescere l’autostima dei bambini
sordi e per migliorare le loro capacità di apprendimento e
socializzazione.

During 2012 and 2013 we supported a project for the social
re-inclusion of deaf children of the Boarding School of Tirana.
This project was part of a cooperation programme which
allowed many deaf children to be aided through acoustic
prosthetization and subsequent speech rehabilitation.
Our funds were used to financially support a theatreperformance laboratory which ended with the staging of the
show “Snow white and the seven dwarfs”. For the staging
of this show, deaf children and non-disabled children
supervised by a director, two assistant directors and a
hearing impaired woman worked together. The project was
important to increase the self-esteem of deaf children and to
improve their learning and socialization skills.
This project was supported through the Magis Foundation
of Rome.
Mundolobela is a village near the city of Livingstone, in
Zambia, where it was necessary to build a state secondary
school to give the children of this village and of neighbouring
villages the possibility to keep studying, also after primary
school. The school is still being completed, but much
headway has been made on the works for the building of
the first three separate blocks and soon the blocks may be
used by the students. Once the works are completed, at the
end of 2015, the school blocks will be five and will include,
in addition to classrooms, toilets, a home room, an infirmary
and the offices.
Our support was used to cover only part of the expenses for
this new school facility and, in particular, it was used to build
a part of the block with the first classrooms.

Il Villaggio SOS di Vicenza ha come finalità l’accoglienza
temporanea di minori in condizioni di disagio personale,
familiare e sociale, in particolare coloro per i quali il proprio
nucleo familiare è temporaneamente impossibilitato o
incapace ad assolvere il proprio compito. Nel 2013 abbiamo
supportato questo villaggio per contribuire alla ristrutturazione
di tre appartamenti messi a disposizione da IPAB Vicenza
in comodato d’uso gratuito. Gli appartamenti sono stati
ristrutturati ed arredati ed ora sono utilizzati dal Villaggio per
il progetto “Casa papà con bambino”, un progetto innovativo
che offre supporto e ospitalità a padri in difficoltà che, per
diversi motivi, si trovano soli con il loro bambino/a. Il fine del
servizio è che il papà compia un percorso di elaborazione del
proprio ruolo genitoriale in modo da raggiungere un’adeguata
autonomia (anche economica) e un’oggettiva competenza nel
rapporto con il proprio figlio.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’ONG SOS
Villaggi dei Bambini Italia di Milano.
Questo progetto ha visto la cura in Italia, attraverso il
programma umanitario della Regione Emilia Romagna, di
cinque minori provenienti dai Paesi Balcani e dall’Africa affetti
da gravi patologie cardiache. I minori, accompagnati da un
genitore, sono stati curati presso l’ospedale Sant’Orsola di
Bologna e ora sono rientrati nei loro paesi d’origine dove il
servizio sanitario non avrebbe potuto aiutarli adeguatamente.
Le spese di ricovero e intervento sono state coperte dalla
Regione Emilia Romagna e dell’Azienza USL di riferimento,
mentre le altre spese - viaggio aereo, trasporti locali, ospitalità,
medicinali – sono state sostenute grazie al contributo da noi
erogato.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’Associazione
Cosmohelp Onlus di Faenza (RA), con la quale collaboriamo
da diversi anni.
The purpose of Villaggio SOS of Vicenza is to give temporary
accommodation to minors in conditions of personal, family
and social distress, in particular those children whose
family unit is temporarily unable to fulfil its duty. In 2013 we
supported this organisation to help rebuild three flats made
available by IPAB Vicenza as a gratuitous loan for use. The
flats were restructured and furnished and now they are
used by Villaggio for the project “Single Fathers’ home”, an
innovative project which gives support and hospitality to
fathers in difficulty who, for various reasons, are alone with
their children. The purpose of the service is to give fathers
guidance to understand their role as a parent in order to
become self-sufficient (also economically) and gain an
objective expertise in the relationship with their children.
This project was supported through the NGO SOS Villaggi
dei Bambini Italia of Milan.
This project supported the treatment in Italy, through the
humanitarian programme of the Emilia Romagna Region, of
five minors from the Balkan Countries and from Africa suffering
from severe heart diseases. The minors, accompanied by a
parent, were treated at the hospital Sant’Orsola of Bologna
and now they are back in their countries of origin where the
healthcare service would not have been able to cure them
adequately.
The fees for admission and surgery were covered by the Emilia
Romagna Region and by the reference local Healthcare Unit,
while the remaining expenses – plane trip, local transports,
hospitality, medicines – were paid thanks to our financial
support.

Il progetto “Casa Kolbe” segue, nelle ore pomeridiane, alcuni
minori del territorio trevigiano provenienti da famiglie in difficoltà
segnalate dai Servizi Sociali. Il nostro supporto al progetto
è servito per coprire parte delle spese legate al sostegno
didattico competente, per l’acquisto della merenda, di libri di
testo e di dizionari e, infine, per una gita al lago di Garda che
ha permesso ai minori di conoscersi meglio e di passare dei
momenti sereni. I minori seguiti, da un gruppo preparato di
volontari, sono stati in tutto trentacinque e le attività realizzate
dal progetto hanno anche coinvolto i loro genitori per creare
sinergie costruttive tra famiglie.
Questo progetto è stato sostenuto attraverso l’Associazione
Segno di Alleanza Onlus di Treviso.
Anche nel 2013, come nel 2012, abbiamo supportato il
progetto “Bottega Grafica” che si occupa della formazione
di alcuni ragazzi reclusi presso l’I.P.M. (Istituto Penale per
Minori) di Treviso, unico carcere minorile del triveneto. Il nostro
supporto ha permesso di dare, a questi ragazzi, delle “borse
lavoro” per le attività formative svolte nella “Bottega Grafica”
che realizza loghi, locandine, brochure, cartoline e altri progetti
di comunicazione per organizzazioni non profit ed Enti Pubblici.
Questo progetto è stato importante, e lo è tutt’ora, per dare ai
ragazzi una possibilità in più d’inserimento lavorativo dopo la
detenzione e per farli entrare in contatto con realtà positive del
terzo settore.

The project “Casa Kolbe” looks after, in the afternoon hours,
some Treviso-based minors coming from disadvantaged
families as reported by the Social Services. Our support was
used to cover part of the expenses to find qualified teachers,
for the purchase of snacks, of school books and dictionaries
and, finally, for a trip to lake Garda which allowed the minors
to get to know each other better and spend some moments
of peace together. The minors, looked after by a skilled
group of volunteers, were in total thirty-five and the activities
accomplished by the project also involved their parents, in
order to create constructive synergies with the families.
This project was supported through the Association Segno di
Alleanza Onlus of Treviso.
Also in 2013, just as 2012, we supported the project “Bottega
Grafica” to train some young in-mates of the Penal Institution
for Juveniles of Treviso, the only prison for minors of the
Triveneto area. Our support helped give some of these kids
“work bursaries” for the training activities carried out at
“Bottega Grafica” which prints logos, posters, brochures,
postcards and other promotional items for non-profit
organisations and Public Authorities. This project was, and
still is, important to give the kids one more work inclusion
opportunity after imprisonment and to allow them to follow
on the footsteps of positive examples of the third sector.

precedenti, abbiamo realizzato numerosi
eventi gratuiti per informare e riflettere su
tematiche legate al mondo dei minori, ai
progetti che sosteniamo, o, più in generale,
alla cooperazione e alla solidarietà. Gli
eventi, rivolti a tutti i cittadini con particolare
attenzione verso i più giovani, hanno ottenuto
un ottimo riscontro e spesso sono stati
realizzati creando proficue collaborazioni
con diverse realtà non profit e persone che
con noi condividono principi e attenzione
verso i minori in difficoltà.
Nel corso dell’anno abbiamo anche creato
degli eventi di raccolta fondi destinati a

n 2013, as in the past, we also held many free events
to inform and reflect on themes related to the world
of minors, the projects we support or, more in general,
on cooperation and solidarity. The events, addressed
to all citizens with special attention to youth, were
very successful and were often held creating fruitful
partnerships with other non-profit organisations and
people who share our same principles and attention for
disadvantaged minors.
During the year we also held fund-raising events for the
projects we supported.

La proiezione, tenutasi presso l’auditorium di
Villa Zanetti, è stata organizzata grazie alla
collaborazione con l’ONG Medici con l’Africa
Cuamm di Padova. Il film-documentario,
presentato fuori concorso alla Mostra del
Cinema di Venezia con grande successo
di pubblico e critica, racconta le storie
di alcuni medici e operatori sanitari che
lavorano a favore delle popolazioni africane
più svantaggiate attraverso Medici con
l’Africa Cuamm. Nel corso dell’evento, che ha
avuto un ottimo riscontro, è stata effettuata
una raccolta fondi a favore dei progetti del
Cuamm anche grazie alla collaborazione con
l’Associazione Panecinema, che ha preparato
pane e dolci, e con l’azienda vinicola Astoria
che ha fatto degustare al pubblico il suo vino.
Tra i presenti alla serata ricordiamo don Dante Carraro, don
Luigi Mazzucato (rispettivamente direttore ed ex direttore del
Cuamm), il Dott. Claudio Beltramello (un medico protagonista
del documentario) e alcuni rappresentanti del Cuamm in diversi
Paesi africani che hanno potuto commentare il documentario e
rispondere alle domande dei presenti.
The screening, shown at the auditorium of Villa Zanetti, was
organised in partnership with the NGO Medici con l’Africa
Cuamm of Padua. The documentary film, shown out of
competition at the Venice Film Festival to great public and
critical acclaim, tells the stories of some doctors and healthcare
professionals working to help the most disadvantaged African
populations through Medici con l’Africa Cuamm. During
the event, which was very successful, a fund raising was
organised to support the projects of Cuamm, also thanks to
the partnership with Associazione Panecinema, which baked
bread and desserts, and with winery Astoria which offered its
wine to the audience for tasting. Participants included father
Dante Carraro, father Luigi Mazzucato (respectively director
and former director of Cuamm), Doctor Claudio Beltramello
(a doctor who had taken part in the documentary) and some
Cuamm representatives in different African countries who
made comments on the documentary and answered the
questions of participants.

Questa proiezione, tenutasi presso la cedraia del parco di
Villa Margherita, è stata organizzata in collaborazione con
l’Associazione Gruppo 14 Per la Cultura dell’Infanzia ed è
stata la nostra proposta per l’evento “…E tutti giù per terra!
2013”, dedicato ai minori del nostro territorio. Il documentario,
che racconta i primi dodici mesi di vita di quattro bambini di
diverse parti del mondo, è stato presentato e commentato dal

Questa iniziativa, sviluppatasi in collaborazione con i volontari
dell’associazione trevigiana LILT Giocare in Corsia, aveva
tre scopi principali: donare ai bambini del nostro territorio, e
ai loro genitori, delle piacevoli letture di fiabe in un contesto
naturale molto bello; raccogliere fondi a favore delle attività di
LILT Giocare in Corsia per i bambini di Kiev malati di cancro
(l’ingresso era libero, ma chi lo desiderava poteva lasciare
un’offerta per questo fine); far conoscere le iniziative a favore dei
minori realizzate da noi e dall’associazione trevigiana. L’evento
si è tenuto nelle ore pomeridiane e ha visto la partecipazione di
numerosi bambini che hanno anche potuto ascoltare musica,
osservare la natura del parco, disegnare e giocare sul prato.
This initiative, developed in partnership with the volunteers
of the Treviso-based association LILT Giocare in Corsia,
had three main purposes: giving the children of our territory,
and their parents, some pleasant readings of fairy tales in a
very beautiful natural setting; raising funds to support the
activities of LILT Giocare in Corsia for Kiev children suffering
from cancer (the entrance was free, but it was possible
to make a donation to this end); divulging the initiatives in
favour of minors accomplished by us and by the Trevisobased association. The event was held in the afternoon and
was attended by many children who also listened to music,
observed the nature of the park, drew and played on the
grass.

This screening, shown at the orangery of the park of Villa
Margherita, was organised in partnership with Associazione
Gruppo 14 Per la Cultura dell’Infanzia and was our proposal
for the event “…We all fall down! 2013”, for our local minors.
The documentary, which describes the early months in the
life of four children from different parts of the world, was
shown and commented by Doctor Marco Ius, educationalist
of the University of Padua, who helped the audience reflect
on the differences, but mostly on the analogies, present in
the development of children born in different social-economic
settings.

La serata, tenutasi nel bellissimo contesto dell’Hotel Villa
Cipriani, aveva lo scopo principale di supportare le attività
dell’Associazione Ahead Onlus di Roma, che da alcuni anni
gestisce l’Ospedale “Raoul Follereau” di Bissau, in Guinea
Biassau. Questo evento era suddiviso in tre momenti diversi:
aperitivo di benvenuto all’aperto con sottofondo musicale
dal vivo, cena, concerto degli artisti Red Canzian e Chiara
Canzian accompagnati dal quartetto d’archi “Archimia” e dal
chitarrista Ivan Geronazzo. La serata ha ottenuto un ottimo
riscontro e ha visto la partecipazione di più di cento persone.
I fondi raccolti sono serviti all’Associazione Ahead Onlus per
incrementare il supporto alimentare a favore dei bambini
ricoverati e per rendere più accogliente il Reparto di Pediatria

The main purpose of the evening, held in the beautiful
setting of Hotel Villa Cipriani, was to financially support the
activities of Association Ahead Onlus of Rome, that has
been managing the Hospital “Raoul Follereau” of Bissau, in
Guinea Bissau, for some years now. The event was divided
into three parts: outdoor welcome aperitif with live music,
dinner, concert of artists Red Canzian and Chiara Canzian
accompanied by the string quartet “Archimia” and by guitar
player Ivan Geronazzo. The evening was very successful and
was attended by over one hundred people. The funds raised
were used by Association Ahead Onlus to increase food
supply to hospitalised children and to make the Paediatric
Ward of the Hospital more comfortable.

Awareness-raising meetings for Upper
Secondary Schools
Nel corso del 2013 abbiamo realizzato, presso l’auditorium di
Villa Zanetti, sette incontri di sensibilizzazione per le Scuole
Secondarie di Secondo Grado del nostro territorio. Gli incontri
facevano parte di due cicli diversi denominati rispettivamente
“All’inizio del viaggio ho incontrato una montagna - anno
scolastico 2012/2013” (ciclo ideato per sensibilizzare i
partecipanti su alcune gravi problematiche dei minori) e “Passi
verso l’AltroVe – anno scolastico 2013/2014” (ciclo che ha
raccontato storie di persone e realtà che si avvicinano agli altri,
e all’altrove, con rispetto, attenzione e spirito solidale). Questi
incontri, tenutisi la mattina, hanno visto la presenza di circa 1100
studenti, più altre persone non legate direttamente al mondo
della scuola, ma comunque interessate ai temi proposti. Ogni
appuntamento ha affrontato tematiche attuali e interessanti e
ha anche visto la presenza di personaggi noti come: La Pina
e Diego di Radio Deejay, il documentarista della RAI Davide
Demichelis e i registi Alessandro Rocca e Paolo Bianchini.
During 2013 we held, at the auditorium of Villa Zanetti, seven
awareness-raising meetings for local Upper Secondary
Schools. The meetings were part of two different cycles
respectively called “At the beginning of the journey I
encountered a mountain – school year 2012/2013” (a cycle
designed to raise the awareness of participants on some
serious problems of minors) and “Steps to AltroVe – school
year 2013/2014” (a cycle which told stories of people and
organisations which approach other people, and other places,
with respect, attention and solidarity). These meetings,
held in the morning, were attended by approximately 1100
students, and other people who were not directly related
to the school setting, but were still keen on the themes we
dealt with. Every meeting dealt with modern and interesting
themes and was also attended by personalities like La Pina
and Diego from Radio Deejay, the RAI documentary film
maker Davide Demichelis and film makers Alessandro Rocca
and Paolo Bianchini.

utto ciò che anche nel 2013 abbiamo
fatto a favore di alcuni minori in difficoltà
è stato possibile grazie a tante realtà e a
tante persone che con noi hanno camminato
condividendo idee, energie positive, sorrisi,
speranze, momenti a volte anche brevi, ma
sempre intensi e costruttivi.
Elencare tutti coloro che vorremmo ringraziare
è veramente difficile, ma come ogni anno
vogliamo dire grazie di cuore ai nostri donatori;
alle persone delle diverse organizzazioni
non profit che hanno lavorato con amore e
professionalità per i progetti che abbiamo
sostenuto; ai relatori di tutti gli incontri che
abbiamo organizzato; ai dirigenti scolastici, ai
docenti, agli studenti e a tutte le altre persone
che hanno partecipato alle nostre attività di
sensibilizzazione e raccolta fondi; alle stagiste
che ci hanno aiutato durante l’estate; a tutti
coloro che ci hanno donato un po’ del loro
tempo; a chi ci ha incoraggiati a continuare
nonostante le difficoltà; a tutti quelli che
sono rimasti “dietro alle quinte” pur essendo
importanti e, naturalmente, grazie a tutti i
minori in difficoltà che abbiamo incontrato,
direttamente o indirettamente, perché le loro
storie, ma soprattutto i loro sorrisi e le loro
straordinarie risorse, ci hanno sempre spinti a
continuare nella nostra missione con positività.
Forse abbiamo dimenticato qualcuno, e se
è così ci scusiamo molto, ma comunque
vogliamo ribadire che ogni cosa fatta anche
nel corso del 2013 è stata il frutto di bellissime
sinergie, prima di tutto umane, che lasceranno un segno
importante nella storia della Fondazione e di tutti noi che la
componiamo. Grazie.
lso in 2013, all we did to help disadvantaged minors was
possible thanks to many organisations and people that
supported us sharing their ideas, positive energies, smiles,
hopes, and the intense and constructive albeit little time they
had available.
Listing all the people we would like to thank is really hard, but
as every year we would like to say thanks from the bottom
of our heart to our benefactors; to the people from the
different non-profit organisations who worked with love and
professionalism on the projects we financially supported;
to the speakers of all the meetings we held; to the school
managers, teachers, students and all the other people
who were part of our awareness-raising and fund-raising
activities; to the interns who helped us during summer; to
all those people who gave us some of their time; to those
people who encouraged us to keep going despite the
complications; to all those people who remained “behind the
curtains” despite being important and, of course, thanks to
all the disadvantaged minors that we met, either directly or
indirectly, because their stories, but especially their smiles
and their unlimited resources always positively pushed us to
continue our mission.
Maybe we have forgotten someone, if so please forgive us;
still, we would like to stress that all we did during 2013 was
the fruit of beautiful, mostly human, synergies, which will
leave an important mark in the history of the Foundation and
of all of us members. Thank you.
