EPIFANIA DEL SIGNORE /EPIPHANY OF OUR LORD
L’Epifania e il prolungamento della celebrazione
del natale del Signore. Il cammino dei Magi,
venuti dall’oriente, e’ da sempre immagine del
cammino di ogni uomo che cerca sinceramente
Dio. Essi ci richiamano alla sapienza del cuore, e
non accontarci del superficiale.
Essi donano oro, incenso e mirra. L’oro puo’
indicare tutto il bene che essi hanno compiuto
nella vita: I moti di bonta, di misericordia e di
carita’.L’incenso indica la nostalgia dell’infinito
che abita nei loro cuori. E mirra indica l’umilta e
sofferenza umana ma che trovano senso solo in
Dio.
Nella carovana dei Magi ci siamo anche noi.
Facendo il punto del cammino siamo invitati a
riflettere il nostro rapporto con Dio; lasciarci
avvolgere nel mistero di Dio nella nostra
soffrenza. Quanto piu scopriamo chi siamo, tanto
piu siamo capaci di condividere cio’ che abbiamo
con gli altri e sopratutto con i bisgnosi.

Epiphany means manifestation (revelation). This
manifestation of God to men is an extraordinary
mystery, a work so full of mercy; it constitutes
one of the characters so essential to the
Incarnation. The Fathers of the Church have seen
in the call of the Magi to Christ's cradle, the
calling of pagan nations to the Faith. The way in
which the Magi acted, shows us the qualities that
our faith ought to have. What is at first apparent is
the generous fidelity of this faith. The Magi's
fidelity to the inspiration of grace is wonderful.
Doubt takes no hold upon their minds; Neither the
indifference nor the skepticism of those who
surround them, nor the disappearance of the star,
nor the difficulties inherent to an expedition of
this kind, nor the length and dangers of the way
stop them. They obey the divine call without
delay or hesitation. If with fidelity we listen to the
divine call, if we generously press onward with
our gaze fixed upon the star, we shall come to
Christ Who is the life of our souls. And whatever
be our sins, our failings, our miseries, Jesus will
welcome us with kindness.

Signore Gesù Cristo, tu ci hai insegnato a
essere misericordiosi come il Padre
celeste, e ci hai detto che chi vede te
vede Lui. Mostraci il tuo volto e saremo
salvi. Il tuo sguardo pieno di amore
liberò Zaccheo e Matteo dalla
schiavitù del denaro; l’adultera e la
Maddalena dal porre la felicità solo in
una creatura; fece piangere Pietro
dopo il tradimento, e assicurò il
Paradiso al ladrone pentito. Fa’ che
ognuno di noi ascolti come rivolta a sé
la parola che dicesti alla samaritana: Se
tu conoscessi il dono di Dio!
Tu sei il volto visibile del Padre invisibile, del
Dio che manifesta la sua onnipotenza soprattutto con il
perdono e la misericordia: fa’ che la Chiesa sia nel
mondo il volto visibile di Te, suo Signore, risorto e nella
gloria. Hai voluto che i tuoi ministri fossero anch’essi
rivestiti di debolezza per sentire giusta compassione per
quelli che sono nell’ignoranza e nell’errore: fa’ che
chiunque si accosti a uno di loro si senta atteso, amato e
perdonato da Dio.
Manda il tuo Spirito e consacraci tutti con la sua unzione
perché il Giubileo della Misericordia sia un anno di grazia
del Signore e la tua Chiesa con rinnovato entusiasmo
possa portare ai poveri il lieto messaggio proclamare ai
prigionieri e agli oppressi la libertà e ai ciechi restituire la
vista.
Lo chiediamo per intercessione di Maria Madre della
Misericordia a te che vivi e regni con il Padre e lo Spirito
Santo per tutti i secoli dei secoli. Amen

Altar Servers Meeting & Training
How have you experienced mercy in your life?
How do we show mercy? What is the underlying
hope and promise of mercy?
We bring our questions, our hearts, even our
anxieties of a world slandered with violence and
apathy... we bring all this into one unified
journey... a journey into a year of Mercy.
Every 2nd & 4th Saturday @ 1-3 pm
Boys and girls who had received First
Communion, and would like to become an
altar server, is welcome to attend.

An engineer dies and reports to the Pearly Gates.

St. Wilfrid’s Chapel
Saint Peter checks his dossier and not seeing his name there,
accidentally sends him to Hell. It doesn't take long before the
engineer becomes rather dissatisfied with the level of comfort in
Hell. He soon begins to design and build improvements. Shortly
thereafter, Hell has air conditioning, flush toilets and escalators.
Needless to say, the engineer is a pretty popular guy.
One day, God calls Satan and says: "So, how are things in
Hell?" Satan replies: "Hey, things are going great. We've got air
conditioning, flush toilets, and escalators. And there's no telling
what this engineer is going to come up with next. "What!" God
exclaims: "You've got an engineer? That's a mistake - he should
never have been sent to Hell. Send him to me."
"Not a chance," Satan replies: "I like having an engineer on the
staff, and I'm keeping him!"
God insists: "Send him back or I'll sue."
Satan laughs uproariously and answers: "Yeah, right. And
where are you going to get a lawyer?”
