HOW TO GROOM THE BOLOGNESE
Useful tips and advice to groom this small size breed at best
Bolognese is a small size breed; after having been groomed he should
look compact, with a squared trunk, large and short head compared to
the back and the tail lying curved on the back. The coat is long on the
whole body but on the nose. The hair is never flat but rather raised and
arranged in flocks. The colour must be absolutely pure white: no
shading is admitted. The hair should be well shortened with scissors
(never with a clipper) when the puppy is four-five months old to support
the growth of a more mature and stronger coat, less woolly, arranged in
flocks and that hardly mats.

durante il trattamento con il Super Whitening Gel pulite la
zona con un po’ di Self Rinse Shampoo ogni tre giorni,
uno shampoo autosciacquante che si applica velocemente con uno spruzzino e permette una pulizia veloce.
LA BUONA ASCIUGATURA. Per rispettare l’aspetto tipico
della razza asciugate inizialmente con un soffiatore per
eliminare l’acqua in eccesso, quindi rifinite con un phon
spazzolando con una spazzola Pin Brush. Nella fase terminale spruzzate del 3-D Volumizing Spray e, contemporaneamente, sollecitate il pelo con piccoli colpetti di
pettine (usate il Poodle Comb) alla radice. L’umidità dello
spray favorirà la formazione dei bioccoli, che poi fisserete
con una piccola quantità di Invisible Styling Gel amalgamata nel palmo a applicata con movimenti veloci delle
mani, come per spettinare il pelo. Se il pelo è particolarmente debole e senza corposità, usate l’Hair Revitalizer
Spray, un antistatico che dona sostegno al bioccolo. Se,
infine, il mantello è annodato e infeltrito, durante l’asciugatura lavoratelo con un cardatore morbido tipo #1 All
Systems Slick Brush. Se il mantello è proprio messo male,
usate un taglianodi a nove lame per eliminare i feltri
attaccati alla cute.
IN VISTA DELLA GARA. Se il bagno precede una gara, è
consigliabile eseguire sempre un passaggio con il Product Stabilizer, ricordando di sciacquare completamente il condizionatore Super Rich Conditioner. Dopo avere
MAINTENANCE BATH. In case of a maintenance bath, the Bolognese
should be groomed as follows:
1 wash the coat first with P.F.Whitening Shampoo to cleanse the skin and
hair thoroughly: the vegetable ingredients exalt the white colour thanks
to their natural optical effect.
2 Wash a second time with Super Cleaning Shampoo that contains
nutrients leaving the coat easy to brush and detangle and ensures the
correct pH of skin and hair through a blend of vegetable ingredients.
3 After the shampoo and before the lotion, use Product Stabilizer if the
dog is not washed frequently, if it smells or in case of shedding or
matting. This product offers surprising results: it is a ginger scented
citrus lotion that delicately cleanses the skin and coat and ensures the
correct texture (one spoonful diluted in one litre water, with final
rinsing).
4 Conditioning is very important to ensure a healthy skin and coat: Super
Rich Conditioner nourishes and moisturizes without altering the natural
look. Dilute about two spoonfuls of product in 1 litre of warm water, mix,
pour on the coat and rinse slightly. This procedure is advised for coats
that are particularly tangled or in bad conditions. If on the other hand
you wish to recover the flocks, dilute one spoonful of Super Rich
Conditioner in one glass water and spray it on the coat while drying it.
5 Finish cleaning the ears with Ear So Fresh, a blend of herbs that
cleanses and releases a feeling of wellness.
STAINLESS WHITE. White coats are often yellow-stained because of
corrosion deriving from the acidity of tears, saliva and urine. To gain the
right colour back, while bathing the dog use also the enzymatic P.W.
Lightening Shampoo, applying it pure on the stains or diluted on the
whole coat, if you only need to brighten the white colour.
If the coat is good and the problem is localized, for instance under the
eyes, apply some pure product on the area and use Super Cleaning
Shampoo on the rest of the body. P.W. Lightening Shampoo must be used
at a second stage, leaving it on the coat for five minutes before rinsing.
To preserve the white colour between one bath and the other, apply a
little Super Whitening Gel on the areas that tend to turn yellow, like
around the eyes and the mouth or the private parts: the product builds a
film that protects the hair from acidity and, thanks to the natural
enzymatic action, brightens and preserves the colour.When treating the
hair with Super Whitening Ge, clean the area with a little Self Rinse
Shampoo every three days for quick cleansing.
DRY WELL. To respect the typical aspect of the breed, start drying the
coat with an air blower to eliminate water in excess, then refine with a
hair dryer using the Pin Brush. Before finishing, spray some 3D
Volumizing Spray and ‘stimulate’ the coat with little comb strokes (use the
Poodle Comb) at the root. Spray humidity will favour flocks forming; fix
them with a small amount of Invisible Styling Gel applied with quick hand
movements, as if to mess the hair. If the coat is weak and not full-bodied,
use Hair Revitalizer Spray that adds texture and helps form flocks. If the
coat is tangled or matted, pass a soft slick brush like #1 All Systems Slick
Brush when drying it. If the coat is really in bad conditions, use a nineblade cutter comb to eliminate mats close to the skin.
PREPARING FOR A SHOW. If the bath precedes a dog show, a passage
with Product Stabilizer is advised; remember to rinse Super Rich
Conditioner well. After having eliminated water with an air blower, use a
hair dryer at low temperature and quite close to the skin and give small
strokes at the hair roots with the Poodle Comb. Do remember to give just
little strokes without really combing the hair so as not to straighten it and
lose the typical look of the Bolognese. If the coat is fluffy, pour a small
amount of Pure Cosmetic Conditioner on the hands, spread it on the hair
and, with the help of some potato starch, brush the coat to add volume
and brighten the white colour.
SCISSORS CUT. To tidy the coat with a pair of scissors after the bath, dry
the hair and comb it with the Slick Brush to cut it more easily. Round the
feet shape, tidy the tail base, the head and ears, which must not be too
heavy. Make the body look more compact working on the throat-band
and breast-bone to highlight the neck. After having corrected the coat
line highlight flocks using 3D Volumizing Spray, giving little comb
strokes using the Poodle Comb and refining with a final touch of Invisible
Styling Gel.
WELL MAINTAINED. Between one bath and the other, remove dust from
the hair and nourish it; avoid brushing the hair when totally dry to make
sure not to break it: dilute one spoonful of Self Rinse Shampoo and a
small spoonful of Super Rich Conditioner in one glass water, sprinkle the
mix on the coat and brush. If dirt must be removed, for instance food on
the mouth after meals, sprinkle the mix and pass a cloth.
