foot on its holy land. Rich in tradition

It is an island one discovers step-by-step. It is
the island where God chose to speak to John
the Evangelist; here, everyday life becomes
an Apocalypse.
Patmos is also known as Jerusalem of the
Aegean. The Chora and the Holy Cave of the
Apocalypse have been declared
monuments of world heritage.
The criteria for this declaration were
the fact that the Chora has been
developing since the 12th century and
that the Monastery with the Holy
Cave, where the Apocalypse was
written, still maintains the exact same
rituals from the early Christian era.
Thus Patmos became a member of
the Organization of World Heritage
