ABOUT US
SJ Vietnam (www.sjvietnam.org) is an international youth NGO (Non-Governmental
Organization) that promotes values of solidarity, peace, tolerance through young citizenship
projects to improve society during and after the voluntarism. It was set up in 2004 by and for
national and international young volunteers.
SJ Vietnam is a full member of CCVIS (Coordinating committe of international voluntary
services) and NVDA (Network for voluntary development in Asia-Pacific), a partner of
Alliance. SJ Vietnam is a non-political and non-religious organization which opens to
everybody without any distinction of nationality, race, philosophy, financial resources, and
education or sex.
OUR ACTIVITIES
1. Workcamps
Workcamps organized by SJ Vietnam seek to provide an experience that connects solidarity,
intercultural learning, and community life to help disadvantaged, street, poor people and blind
children, needy children in paediatrics hospital and disabled, old, homeless people for
community development and capacity building for our partners/target groups.
2. Long-term volunteer projects and European Volunteer Service (EVS):
Long-term (LTV) and EVS projects (from 2 to 12 months) are organized in Hanoi, Nam Dinh,
Phu Yen, Hoa Binh, Hai Duong, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh city, Ben Tre and around Vietnam
with topics related to environment, education, disadvantaged people and society to support
sustainable development. Long-term volunteers will live and work like local people.
3. Training courses, seminars and conferences
SJ Vietnam organizes regular workshops, seminars, conferences and training for its members,
which provide young volunteers with knowledge in global education including conflict
management, leadership, intercultural learning and volunteering skills, etc.
4. Sending Vietnamese volunteers abroad
Through a network of international partners, SJ Vietnam offers Vietnamese volunteers chances
to join in workcamps, projects and EVS abroad.

We are NOT going to have projects these days. Therefore, kindly keep your eyes on this and
inform your volunteers before sending. During the time, our volunteers working in the period
would have holidays as well. Thank you so much!
REMARKS
* Insurance: volunteers have to prepare their own insurance in advanced.
* LMTV project: we ONLY welcome volunteers on Monday of every the second and the forth
week a month.
For example: if your volunteer arrived earlier, he/she will stay in guesthouse by themselves.

Work: Teach English and organize leisure activities for poor and disadvantaged children living
on float boats in Red River. Help local volunteers to keep the Youth Center clean and prepare
free lunch for the children; participate in promoting activities such as giving English lessons,
organizing workshop/ give foreigner languages in private school/ university to raise funds for
school’s fee of the children here.

they can have culture exchange. Meals are provided by the host family.

level of motivation and patience as children are disadvantaged and street children who are very
stubborn.

Work: To take care and organize leisure activities for children patients in hospital to help them
forget the physical painful, encourage children to communicate or concentrate daily activity in
class and organize performances/ sport/ game for them every day. Switching by day, volunteers
can also work at orphanage which is close to the hospital.

use computer, prepare performances with the children for special events and encourage them to

Work: work with PR coordinator; manage and update the website of SJ Vietnam, design flyers,

staffs and cooperate with humanity and non-profit organizations to organize social activities for
students (such as charity/voluntary work in the community, fundraise for those activities, etc)

pictures of your country. Volunteers with Bachelor degree in fields of Social Science, Social
Administration, Social Planning and Development, international relations, public relations,
development studies or equivalent are preferred.

Work: Work in the lab of the site; organize trainings and English classes for staffs of the park to
improve their English skills; raise awareness of the local people in protecting environment
through workshops; participate in the elaboration of books gathering information about the
