Uso:
o The ongoing action expressed by English present progressive forms, such as I am
speaking, can be expressed in Italian by the presente indicativo, but also by the presente
progressivo.

Forma:
o The presente progressivo is made up of two separate parts: the present indicative of the
auxiliary verb stare, and il gerundio (the gerund) of the verb.

o The following verbs have irregular gerund forms:
bere  bevendo (drinking)
fare  facendo (doing, making)
venire  venendo (coming)
o Reflexive verbs can also have a progressive form, in which case the reflexive pronouns
can be put either before stare or attached to the gerund. However, it is more common to
put them before stare.
Loro si stanno divertendo.
Luisa ed io ci stiamo annoiando.
Io sto divertendomi.
